Me - it's a toss up. I guess my main camera is my Google Pixel 7 phone. Since I carry it everywhere! But I use my Canon T6i a fair amount too. Sports, outside, around the house. I keep it on my desk so it's easy access. But it's not in my pocket, and doesn't go as easily to events like the Philharmonic and such. Those end up being phone photos. What about you?
I just bought the Canon mirrorless R5 and love it. And of course I shoot a lot with my phone. And then I have about 20 other cameras for various reasons, mostly old film cameras that I love the play with.
It's hard to say, like you Courtney (@bestcee) I would say that my main camera is my phone just because it is always with me. However, since switching to a mirrorless camera... I take it with me any time I think there might be photos to take And since switching to the lighter mirrorless and the cross body strap, I find myself carrying it more days of a trip than I normally would have. On a multi-day trip to Disney, I would generally abandon my big camera after a couple of days, this new set up, I carry every day.
I have a nikon P520, it's a coolpix with a super zoom of 42x, I use it mostly when I travel around here and to the countryside. And I use a lot my cell camera, a Samsung.
I have a Canon SX740 HS that lives in my purse. It is also small enough to take on a walk and I can hold it in one hand to take a photo (other hand is controlling the dog). It is heavy enough that my hand doesn't shake when using it. I have a Canon SX540 HS that sits on my desk. Most of the time it is the camera I use to take photos inside the house. I have a Canon Rebel T5 that lives on a shelf in my dining room. The long lens is right there with it. It is the one that I use the most to take photos out my sliding door or large picture window. If I am going somewhere specifically to take photos (like the tornado damage in town on Apr 1), I will take it and the extra lens. Phone is only used if I don't have the SX740 with me and photos are usually blurry since my hands shake when trying to take photos with it.
I have a Canon upscale P&S one of the bigger ones that kinda looks like a DSLR, and has a bit of the manual modes but not a full on DSLR. I was supposed to be learning so that I could invest in a real DSLR.... but as phone cameras get better and more sophisticated and my kids are now actual adult age *cry* I no longer truly need anything except my phone. Perhaps one day if I can retire and travel I will invest in a DSLR. By then, who knows what they'll be like.
The Canon T1i DSLR that I bought in 2010, on which I learned photography, and which I carried everywhere in the early 2010's, sat on my desk where I always kept it, gathering dust more and more in the years around 2020 and finally, early this year, I put it in a drawer. I'm not ready to get rid of it; I still think it takes better pictures than my iPhone. But since I photographed the Grand Canyon on my 2021 road trip, I have only used the DSLR once or twice more. I don't have much interest or time for photography anymore. I still document my life on a daily basis though, and for that, I'm using my iPhone 12 Mini. If I'm so fortunate as to have my contract renewed and get to continue working for the school I've now worked at for 2 years, then I plan to buy a new phone this summer . . . and I plan to go PRO to get the best camera. I'll keep holding on to my DSLR for a while though . . . just in case.
I use my iPhone a lot for candids and quick snaps when out and about, it's so convenient. But when I am out for a photo walk I will take my sony full frame mirrorless (a7r iv). When on vacation I take a smaller mirrorless (rx10 iv) and/or nikon p950. Each fulfills a different need and use them all.
I mostly use my Samsung Galaxy 22 Ultra for all photos, as it is my phone I always have it with me. I also have a dSLR, a Canon 5D mark ii, which is getting kinda old (I bought it way back in 2010!) but still is a great full frame camera. I use either a 50mm lens or an 85mm lens with my dSLR. Here are a couple photos from my dSLR and phone to show the difference: Canon 5D mark ii (dSLR) Samsung Galaxy 22 Ultra (phone)
I use my Iphone 8 plus. I get my daughter's Iphones when she is buying a new one I've some great Canon and Panasonic somewhere but I never use them at this time.
I have an older Cannon Rebel I shoot with , but I really need a new camera. when I win the lottery! *L* otherwise I shoot with my phone... which takes pretty darn good photos as well
Update on my post above (number 12). I did get my contract renewed and for a couple of weeks now I've been learning to use my iPhone 14 Pro. It's still not awesome when compared to my old Canon Rebel T1i, but it is much better than the iPhone 12 Mini. I haven't managed to do any scrapping yet this summer -- I've been surprisingly busy -- but I do intend to, so then you may see an improvement in my photos. Or maybe not, at the size in the gallery.
