What do you do while you wait for downloads?

  • Start a new page (I can deal with having several layouts on the go at one time)

  • Walk away from the computer - Clean/Eat/Do real life stuff

  • Stare at the download bar and use mind tricks to hurry it up

  • Browse & comment in the gallery and threads

  • Something else - you'll have to exlain, i can't think of any other options exisiting right now

Well I am definitely jealous; I live in a rural area and cannot get "cable internet" so I must wait while it downloads. Some kits take a total of 5-10 minutes which I guess is good but I hate it. I normally will do some "housework" which keeps hubby happy so that I can scrap more.

I love the idea "Bec" of doing the credits while the store is still open -- I have never thought of doing that.

:giggle... yes. By the time I've clicked on all the DL links and headed over to the downloads folder, it's all downloaded and extracted.

It's automatic to extract for Mac... is this not true for Windows too?
if it is, I don't know how to make it happen!

Automatic extraction...I'm going to have to check that out on the Windows platform.

We are on satellite internet here where I live downunder as we can not get any other type. We were moved over to a new satellite last Nov and now we are pretty fast! yay! downside is that we still have limited data so I still need to keep an eye on what I download as hubby uses the internet here as well. I ended up getting a program called IDM (Internet Download Manager) where I can schedule downloads to happen between the hours of 1.00am - 6.00am which is our Bonus Data time.

But when I do download a kit during our 'normal' time I am busy working on another layout or in the forum/gallery :)

It usually takes less than a minute to download multiple downloads, and that's even with Daniel on the computer and hubby either on his as well or watching Netflix/Amazon/Hulu/Sling. I'm usually always doing something else, though . . . like editing my photo, grabbing a template, etc.

I switched from PC to Mac in 2011 and that difference -- automatic unzipping -- was one of my favorite things about the change!

I've never really thought of this since my things download very quickly.

Mine downloads pretty quick but sometimes it may be slow and I take advantage of that time to do something around the house. Next load of laundry, dishes, sweep, little chores.

Ok so clearly I am the only one that makes tea or goes to shower?
How I envy you your fast internet speeds.
PS: I did customer service for internet in Australia last year. I feel so bad for your speed! It's so slow compared to ours. :shakehead
I blink once or twice. And then I unzip. *giggle*
i'm starting to think that i wouldnt get any real life stuff done (or drink as much coffee) if i had US speed downloads

The good thing is, you can check the forums or your email while wait. But yeah, this thread made me realize how fast my speed is. I knew it was fast, but I guess I didn't know how "not fast" other places have it. But maybe our fast speeds are why some people do "tech free days," which forces them to get that real life stuff done! Cuz it is easy to get sucked into the InterWebs when it's basically always there and always reliably fast.

It took me 90 seconds on my laptop (not hard wired) :giggle And I was watching Netflix at the same time.

what Jenn said. it's so fast many open and are extracted (with zip files auto dumped) before I even get to the downloads folder.

Omigoodness.... I guess you're right! I would get a lot more done around the house! We usually have at least 4-5 things connected to the internet too... between phones, laptops, tablets, etc.

Im super fast here but there are still many areas here in the USA that still only have dial up. Or No Internet. Our family cottage in the Upper Michigan has that, dial up. And only 10 miles west of where I live here their access to internet is the same I have a girlfriend who will drive up to our church to use their wifi. All the libarys here too have computers you can use or bring your computer for wifi use.

My ILs have a place in the northern part of the lower peninsula in MI. They don't have cable TV/Internet. So, they bought this little gadget, a mifi, I think it's called? Anyway, it's mobile data from Verizon so they can have Internet at home. But they only get a few GB per month. That is NOT enough data for me!

Add me to the fast internet list. It doesn't take long at all for me to download thankfully. I remember the days where I'd have to sit and wait and it was torture! Plus I'd get distracted and forget to click the next download. No fun!
