What do you do while on Hold

Tear my hair out?

Seriously though, this is a well-timed question. Last night, jetlagged and exhausted, I was glad to see the grocery order I had made online (while in a Japanese hotel!) arrive. Unfortunately, alongside all the stuff I ordered, they had accidentally given me one bag containing a few things presumably ordered by someone else. So I sighed and did the right thing and rang the store, explained twice that if they were missing a bag it was outside my door, and gave them the address - twice. After all that, the person asked me to hold - why I do not know! After a minute or two, I thought 'nope, I'm done' hmphand hung up … now I feel bad … but also still annoyed

If at home in my office, I put the phone speaker on, put my phone down and browse forums/galleries, pinterest or youtube on my PC. If my hubs is watching TV and I have kitchen stuff to do, I put in my earbuds and putter while waiting. I find that's a good time to do some mindless organizing, fold laundry, prepare shopping list/meal planning, etc. I like when we get the option for a call-back so just need to keep my phone handy.

I usually end up cleaning/organizing the paperwork on my desk. Chances are, one of them is the reason I'm on hold anyway.

I put it on speaker phone and keep scrapping/staying productive :)

I usually put the phone on loudspeaker and do whatever is on ... but I hate it, especially when you get thrown off the line after a certain waiting time.

Get angry if it takes too long. On Thursday, after an hour on hold, I was not in a good mood.

I always multi-task. If it's not convenient for me to multi-task, I hang up and call back when it is, lol.

When I’m on hold, I just sit there scrolling through this forum, reading everyone’s posts and thinking, “Wow, you guys are way more interesting than the hold music.”

Sometimes I’ll even reply to a thread mid-hold, like multitasking queen vibes. If it’s a really long wait, though, I’ll grab snacks because, let’s be honest, nothing makes hold time better than chips

I either mindlessly doodle or I scrap. If it's not an important call I'm hold for then I might put away dishes or clean up around the house but I'm always nervous I won't hear the person come on the line over the noises I'm making. (I'm never that loud but it's a side effect of losing much of my hearing as an adult I think. It's been years but I still haven't adjusted/found a new normal.)
