what are you getting your SO's for christmas?

so far I have bought my boyfriend a puzzle. but not just ANY puzzle, a 4d model of New York City puzzle! But it's not enough. He is obsessed with this grocery store in the south called Publix, so maybe I'll pay a friend to mail me some publix cookies to give to him. I gave my mom the cool idea I had which was to make some personalized hand towels that pay homage to all the states he has lived in, mixed with his all time favorite thing..trains! Eventually though I need to figure out some of his other favorite things because I have done train themed and/or NYC themed gifts for the last 3 years! lol

Some past gifts (if this is at all helpful) were homemade coasters with the NYC subway map on them, a large "triptych" wall hanging of a really cool train picture, and actually one time I just gave him a pillow and told him it was a hug :yup (seen here https://the-lilypad.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=50266&title=a-long-distance-hug&cat=500)

My husband isn't difficult... just too practical. This year, he's been dropping hints like crazy that he needs a new cordless drill. CHECK! Seems I got him his old one for his birthday about 15 years ago. The batteries are no longer any good and too expensive to replace. Then he will get his usual socks and underwear... yep, he actually expects them and gets excited about it. LOL

Mine always gives me the "you" or "nothing" answers and it drives me nutty. But by now I realize he'll never tell me anything that is actually helpful. I buy him cologne, clothes, movies. And he'd love a lego set LOL, but I'm not spending that much on him. This year I actually think we are going to go with just gifting the kids though.

He loves Ray Harryhausen, etc. He's bought himself two alien 12" dolls that were featured in an old Outer Limits show (Ikar & one of Ikar's soldiers). Heck, he buys himself Star Trek ship toys! So I think I'm covered there. If I could find him something cool from Dr. Who, like a Tardis, I think he'd love that.

Ok, I've never had to write plural Tardis before, that was just awkward....
 
My hubby is getting a custom made t-shirt. He is the ultimate computer geek and does web design and programming for a living, so I created this graphic for him:

I tried to get Zazzle to throw it on a tshirt, but they rejected it for copyright reasons (pshaw!!!) hehe but a friend of mine has a crazy cool embroidery machine and she is going to do it for me :)
I also made him a jacket at Zazzle for his birthday that says "The Laminator" in the Terminator font, in celebration of his love of laminating anything that is paper. Other than that, I'm out of ideas. He always wants games and movies, but that's so booooring.
 
what are you getting your SO's for christmas?

Mine wants something a little ridiculous this year... a 60inch TV. I think buying a $1,000 tv a month after we moved into a bigger more expensive house is ridiculous, but he has it in his head that 42 inches is just not enough (insert eye roll).

His birthday is a week before Christmas, so for his bday I have so far gotten him a bluetooth speaker for his car, and Sons of Anarchy Season 3 on DVD.

Normal gifts include clothes, cologne, DVDs, etc. I hate buying for men.
