August is National Wellness Month!

What does "wellness" mean to you?
Do you have a wellness routine at all?
What was the last thing you did to keep your wellness in check?
When were you last unwell?
Why were you unwell?

What does "wellness" mean to you?
Being both physically and mentally healthy & stable

Do you have a wellness routine at all?
Not really, it's something I should be much better at doing

What was the last thing you did to keep your wellness in check?
Modify my diet a bit - I had a few trigger foods that I liked but deep down knew at the quantity I was having them it wasn't great and that's why my IBS symptoms kept flaring up way too often. Those foods weren't essential so I'm now working on reducing them over time and hopefully eliminating them all together.

When were you last unwell?
Physically - last month for about 10 days
Mentally - I'd say ongoing since end of June with hopefully an end date very soon fingers crossed

Why were you unwell?
Physically - I ate four french fries that I didn't realize had flour (gluten) in their seasoning until I had sores and aching fingers for days come out of nowhere. I had been 100% gluten free for so long my body went into attack mode.
Mentally - Not fully knowing or being in control of a potential house foreclosure and not knowing if I/my mum might be homeless soon....still doing all the things to stop the sale but we just don't know yet

Wellness to me is being the best version of me as I can be.
That includes intermittent fasting, eating low carb, or at least decreasing my glucose spikes so as to avoid feeling hungry and having cravings. Pilates twice a week and a daily walk when the weather permits.

I'd say wellness to me is combining both exercise with the mental health aspects. My company has a really good wellness program where they reward us for exercising regularly and have fun challenges with prizes related to that. They also include tasks about eating well, drinking water and trying new things. They even have things like "do something creative" or "read for 20 minutes" as tasks for some of the days during the challenge weeks. I love that!

My wellness routine includes working out with a friend of mine. We make each other go, which is super important and we always say that going to the gym has just as much to do with having the friend therapy of talking as it does about the wonderful stress relief of working out.

What does "wellness" mean to you?
Being as healthy and fit as I can be

Do you have a wellness routine at all?
I try. I get in a good routine and start going to the gym and then something derails me and I have to get back in the routine again lol I also try to eat pretty healthy.

What was the last thing you did to keep your wellness in check?
I see a nutritionist a few times a year and keep my bloodwork up to date. I try to get to the gym at least 3 days a week...that's my goal anyway :) We have a wellness program at work with monthly challenges and things to keep us motivated.

When were you last unwell? Why were you unwell?
Sick? I can't even remember. I always say that after working in a public school for 35 years, I have iron clad immune system lol.
My cholesterol is always high and I've been battling my triglycerides with the diet and exercise.

What does "wellness" mean to you? i guess overall being healthly
Do you have a wellness routine at all? I try to eat well and keep in shape the best I can
What was the last thing you did to keep your wellness in check? I ate a good breakfest does that count?
When were you last unwell? May.. I had a nasty cold while I was in morocco :( otherwise I do suffer from some depression now and than
Why were you unwell? I was sick.. with a nasty cold.. *L*

What does "wellness" mean to you?
Feeling stable mentally and physically

Do you have a wellness routine at all?
I do in recent years and it's essential. I do an hour of a mix of yoga and weights and zumba-type dancing most mornings. The one thing I miss about moving last year is the dance group I left behind :-(. We ocean swim a lot, even in winter. I have auto-immune issues which mean I can't drink, and I need to eat a very low carb diet and not much of it, which is a bit boring.

What was the last thing you did to keep your wellness in check?
LOL - finally admitted I should talk to the doctor about the horrible post-viral sinus pain I've been suffering for the past two weeks. Now on steroids and heavy duty cold meds, and feeling rather weird as a result ;-). I had an MRI a few weeks ago to screen for issues arising from my auto-immune issues and crossing fingers on that one.

When were you last unwell?
Physically - for the past month with a virus then the post-viral stuff above .. grrr. My baseline is rumbling-along chronic autoimmune issues and chronic pain so it's super annoying if I get sick on top of that.

Mentally - Not too happy a couple of weeks ago when daughter was wobbly (that's my remaining weak spot) but I have become a master at not dwelling on stuff in recent years.

Why were you unwell?
Ah … collected a friend from the ferry and hung out with her while she was on the island. She was sniffling and coughing when she arrived so no surprise I got my first cold in five years (I've worn a Kn95 mask on planes, trains, buses and in zoo-like indoor places since 2020).

Overall health in all aspects of life (physical, mental, social, spiritual).

Do you have a wellness routine at all?
Yes. Physical & mental - cold plunge, lift weights, walk. Social - Lilypad, family time. Spiritual - read, serve.

What was the last thing you did to keep your wellness in check?
Cold plunge, weights, and service this morning.

When were you last unwell?
I feel sick to my stomach today.

Why were you unwell?
Might be something I ate or stress.

For me, it’s feeling like I can handle my day without my body fighting me. It’s about having a little peace in the chaos.

Do you have a wellness routine at all?
Yeah, I keep it simple. Light stretches, staying active, and using cannabis for dystonia to keep the spasms under control.

What was the last thing you did to keep your wellness in check?
I stuck to my treatment schedule and made time for some stretches. The cannabis helps with the pain, so I can actually relax after.

When were you last unwell?
A few months ago when the spasms were so bad I could barely hold a pen. It was miserable.

Why were you unwell?
Because I wasn’t using the right treatment. Nothing I tried was really helping until I started using plant-based treatments for dystonia, and that’s when things finally started to improve
