So, about 5 minutes ago, when I logged into the forum, I had a weird pop-up thing happen. I was so shocked that I deleted everything that happened. A sound like a phone ringing popped up and something like "Congratulations, you have been picked to answer some questions in our new survey and you will receive a nice gift for you efforts." Then some weird things started downloading. I've deleted them already, though, it was something about buying stuff and then a bunch of Wal-mart ads starting popping up in the side bar. And it kept popping up and popping up, maybe 5 times within 30 seconds. That's about as long as it took me to realize that it might not me legit. Not sure if it was just me and my laptop, or everyone?
Haven't had anything happen on this site today. It sounds like you may have picked up a virus or something. I would do a virus scan on your laptop if you can. Good luck!
That's the thing, I have a MAC, and these things don't usually happen to MACs. After I deleted everything that downloaded, I did a restart, and things seem to be fine for now.
that's strange, I've never seen anything like that here. I hope it was a one-time thing and it never happens again!
Not for me. It sounds like a browser thing - not sure if it's a hijack or virus! Sadly, they are easy to pick up regardless of your computer. Especially since people like to send them through emails now!
I'll check my laptop again this morning, but I think I've deleted al the offending things that caused the problem.
