Size does matter in scrapbooking. You have the power to modify the size of the items you use and I think that is the wonderful thing about digital and hybrid scrapbooking. Think about how a big title engages and makes a bigger impact on a page than a smaller one. How about the size of an element?

In this page I decided to make the "eye chart" paper blend into the background paper but left it at it's full size. Why? I wanted to put emphasis on going to the Optometrist and getting Bianca's eyes checked and how important that is for us (every 4 months).

Think about the scale of your pictures, the bigger the picture the more impact it has. The smaller the picture, the more subtle and delicate it will be. Check Ana's picture, it just makes your smile immediately, because that big smile is front and center and BIG!

Titles or fonts, specially the size of it will help your story and ground your feelings of the page.

Remember just as textures can help you portray your feelings so do patterns. I usually relate small prints to either babies or kitchens. Let the patterns on your papers or elements help you tell the story too. I love pattern papers and the trick to using a nice array of pattern papers in the same page is all in the scales and proportions you use.

    A. START with a tone-on-tone pattern paper as your background. Even a "BUSY" or "HUGE" flowers will be tone down if you are using tone-on-tone colors.

    B. THINK SMALL – Everything in small doses is good, at least that is what people tells you, right? This is true about pattern papers. Find a template that has at least 3 small shapes and clip them to your pattern papers. Try to use odd number of shapes, it’s just more pleasing to the eyes.

    C. MIX-SCALES – Mix the scales in your pattern papers. Use pieces that have a big scale, next to a small scale pattern paper. If your main focal point is a BIG FLORAL paper, then try a more geometric pattern with a smaller scale as your second pattern paper. For the third pattern it can be another floral but in a much smaller scale than the first one.

Petra's page: Her mix of patterns speak baby to me, then she mixed those HUGE pink watercolor hearts to depict the immense love she has for this precious little girl!

    Here's your challenge:
    * Scrap a story mixing scales on pattern papers or elements or even fonts.
    * Scrap them in a layout that has at least 50% of any TLP products. Journaling is optional since the photos should be the primary storyteller.
    * Post your layout in this thread and in our gallery.

The deadline for this challenge is September 1st at 11 pm EDT.
The Pollys will choose one layout as our Storyteller Standout from this challenge for a $10 prize.
One random layout will receive a $5 participation prize.

I did mine as a two page spread, the first being a bunch of small photos to tell the story, and then the second page as a full photo to emphasize the "win" over Darth Vader.
