I have been to three weddings in the last 8 days.

Labor Day weekend, we had a wedding in St. Louis on Saturday (we live outside of Tulsa), then on Sunday a wedding in Denver. Then this past Saturday we had another wedding outside of St. Louis. I do love to go to weddings, but 3 weddings in 8 days all involving lengthy drives/flights has given me my fill for a bit.

Also, there seems to be a new trend that I hadn't experienced before. Two of the three weddings were early afternoon with a reception that night like 3-5 hours later. Is this a new thing that I was unaware of? It gave the bridal party time to go take some fun photos, but was kind of a long day.

What about you guys? When was the last wedding you attended?

You are amazing to attend that many, over so many miles and times.

The last wedding I went to was when I was a bridesmaid. My friend got married in 2006. :giggle

That does seem like a strange gap in the day to leave people waiting for that long.

When we got married, it was in the evening (in January), and everyone started the reception without us so we could have pictures taken. I think I'd do it differently now. Like not have it in the evening (bad lighting) and do photos before.

The last one I attended was when my son got married last Halloween, and my niece 2 weeks before that. My other niece got married around Thanksgiving the year before. I was just thinking yesterday about all the anniversaries coming up, including my own, which is this week...one day...neither of us ever remember the date LOL
I could see where that gap would make for a really long day.

The first wedding I went to where there was a big gap between the service and the reception was in the late 80's when we were still at uni. They made the rookie mistake of having the bar open during the time they were getting their photos done...Uni students (and to be honest all the guests) and free alcohol was never going too end well - we weren't bad just very loud...

Last wedding I went to was my brothers about 7 years ago. We were expecting to go to our best friends this year but they eloped (sigh) and had their first baby yesterday!

I suspect the next wedding will be our eldest son's - he is 23 and been with his gf for 5 years, luckily we love her and she practically lives with us so all good.

My brother and sister in law got married at the court house late January, and had their reception in February. My old boss told me today that she and her long time bf got married over the weekend, and will be having their actual wedding later in October. Last actual ceremony I went to was June last year. Husband and I traveled to California and he was one of the groomsmen. The reception was slightly a gap after the ceremony. .... not too long.

For our wedding in 2010, we had a really small ceremony, and then did pictures and then showed up to our reception. We intended the reception to be a "come and go", but everyone was there waiting for us all at once.

That is a lot in 8 days. Man... a lot with the big delays in between. Way back when, DH and I had 9 weddings in one year - and two were on the same day where we were both in the wedding parties. We split up that day, needless to say!

We have a wedding in about 2 weeks, and then a couple next year, I think. Probably add a couple more. Now, our cousins are getting older and getting married. First it was us and our friends... then babies... now cousins getting married... then their babies. LOL!

Nearly all of the weddings I have been to in the UK are early afternoon for the ceremony, 12-1PM. Then a meal (called the wedding breakfast but actually a three course dinner) at about 3-4PM then a party after the meal usually lasting most of the night! l spent most of the day starving, not being able to have lunch seems really cruel...I haven't been to a wedding since 2002, though.

I think the last wedding I went to was two years ago in June and I was a bridesmaid for my Sister-in-law. I'm too old to be a bridesmaid, but it was a fun wedding.

Ummm... I don't remember! I haven't been to all that many weddings as an adult. I fell off the radar for awhile when I was with my ex, and that's when all my friends got married.

It must have been my sister's in 2009. I was 6 months pregnant at the time so we made it an early non-alcoholic night. :)

Good grief! That's a LOT of weddings in 8 days. And I've never heard of having that space in between. I think that's awful for the guests!

I believe the last wedding I attended was over 10 years ago . . . wow. I guess since I've been married for 21 years that most of my friends have already gotten married or given up. LOL
