Happy Thursday everyone!

I just took my gummy vitamins for the day so let’s talk vitamins and supplements.

Do you take any daily vitamins or supplements?
How do you keep track of what you take and when?
Are there any vitamins or supplements you highly recommend?

I grew up taking one C vitamin every day.

I took the most vitamins while I was pregnant.

Now I eat gummy multivitamins once a day (or probably twice sometimes because I forget…).

Do you take any daily vitamins or supplements? I have taken a multi-vitamin my whole life. Started as a child on recommendation of my doctor and still do to this day. Only now it is a "senior" vitamin! I also take an EFA (essential fatty acid) supplement. It was recommended by my eye doctor to help with chronic dry eye. I ran out in April and didn't reorder it. By June, the chronic dry eye was horrible. My eyes were itchy all the time. Even the hot eye compresses didn't help much. Got the EFA's ordered and now that I'm taking 2 pills a day the eyes are much better. I did take 6 pills a day for the first week then dropped to 4 pills for a few days. The EFA's have kept me from having to have prescription eye drops which are really expensive. I do have OTC eye drops that are used if needed.

How do you keep track of what you take and when? I have one of the AM/PM pill boxes for a week. I have to take a med twice a day so this works to keep me on track. So in the morning when I brush my teeth, I have to take the med. I just take the vitamin and the EFA's at the same time.

I do. I take a multivitamin and then I supplement with Iron, a probiotic, apple cider vinegar tablet, and an Omega 3. I'm old lol

I have one of those daily pill keepers. Most I take all at one time, and then a couple other later. I try to time it for breakfast and lunch, but sometimes it's dinner when I remember. They all are supposed to be taken with food.

A couple of years ago, my triglycerides were super high. Normal levels are under 150, and anything over 200 is high. Mine was 300. I did some reading on things that could bring it down and saw several suggestions to eat more fish or supplement with Omega 3s. I like fish, but don't have it super often, so I opted for the supplement. When I had my bloodwork done again in May, my triglycerides were 127! I don't know if I can contribute it all to the supplement, because I also did basically give up soda as well, but it was enough for me to keep taking them!!

Also, fun fact... my dad was a Pharmacist, and he always told me that if you can opt for a prenatal vitamin, they are the best multivitamin.

My triglycerides go up and down like a roller coaster and have for years. One time they were extremely high (not like yours though) and at my next doctor visit, she let me have it and asked what in the heck I had been eating. Well, a lot of candy the week before the blood test. I had been at a scrapbook retreat and everyone had lots of candy. My candy of choice that weekend was Brach's pumpkins (it was October). I ate 3 of the packages over the 4 day weekend and drank a lot of pop. Another time when they were high we talked about what I had been eating for 2 weeks before the blood test. At that time I had been eating a lot of potatoes especially a potato loaded with gravy and cheese recipe that I have. She looked at me and said, did you know that starch turns to sugar in your body? Triglycerides are very dependent on what you eat and how your body breaks down the food, especially the sugar in the foods. My last blood test the level was at 160 (year before was 198) and I had been off pop and candy for about 3 weeks. Will be interesting to see if it comes down even more the next time I have a blood test since I can't have pop or chocolate anymore.

I take omega 3 liquid when I remember, usually 3-4 times a week, along with a multi (again, I forget but try to take it at least 2-4 times a week. I eat very clean and little sugar/starches and lots of healthy fats so I feel I am doing ok with my sporadic consumption. I take magnesium every night before bed.

Do you take any daily vitamins or supplements? Yep! Cranberry, Zinc, Vitamin D3 and Elderberry
How do you keep track of what you take and when? I have a pill keeper and I have an alarm on my phone because I have some Rx I have to take daily.
Are there any vitamins or supplements you highly recommend? Nothing highly recommended, but I think the cranberry pills help!

I don't take anything. I probably should, but I don't. I did take the prenatal vitamins when I was pregnant though.

I feel like my eyes are always dry and itchy so thanks for the info about EFAs!

I might have to take your dad’s advice! I just remember prenatal vitamins never agreeing with my stomach…

I’ve always been impressed by your healthy eating Rae. Good work!

I don't take anything on a regular basis, though occasionally I happen to buy a bottle of something and finish it. I have just finished a bottle of primrose oil capsules and collagen pills. About a year ago I was taking Omega 3 fish oil, and I'm thinking of getting a bottle of multivitamins for winter.

I take zinc when I want to kick a cold. I’ll have to look into the cranberry. Congrats on that “Designer” tag above your name! I’m happy to have you stay at The Lilypad! :)

This is basically me. I was only diligent about vitamins while pregnant.

I’m sure a little something is better than nothing.

I only take vitamin D right now, but I should probably add B12 and a vegan omega supplement. I'm trying to get those with lots of nutritional yeast and flax and chia and some seaweed, but probably not enough, especially of the seaweed.

I need to add vitamin D and omegas. I’ve been enjoying chia pudding lately.

And I'm so happy to stay! :D thank you!

My routine is that at breakfast, I take 2 Fish oil capsules, Magnesium ( for leg cramps), Quercetin (helps your immune system), a Hair Skin Nail pill and Olive Leaf Extract.
In my morning smoothie ( celery, beetroot, frozen berries) I add Maca powder and some greens powder ( I am not great at eating green vegetables).

At my night meal - Powdered Calcium ( from seaweed), Vit D3 and K2, Vit C.
