(i hope it's Thursday over there somewhere still!)

So because it's wintery here, it's also cold and flu season and i've been in various local chemists/pharmacies throughout the week.
Apart from a Berocca-type dissolving multi-vitamin drink a few times a week and the odd Vitamin D when I remember throughout the year, we don't really buy anything from the supplement aisles and i'm always amazed at the staggering amount and variety in them but I figure someone has to be buying them to have any business being on the shelves. Do you use any of these products regularly? Any specific ones?

Growing up we were given vitamin C chewable tablets all the time (they ended up being hidden down the side of the lounge etc) and garlic and echinacea tablets at winter time so maybe this has shaped my reluctance to use them - i did give gummy omega-3s & multivitamins to DD for a while at her fussiest but they aren't supposedly supereffective anyway and I wondered if it was reinforcing to her 'if i don't eat, then i get candy' basically.

I take a multivitamin (they're gummy, so I never forget to take them since they're like candy :giggle), vitamin D (as per my doctor's instruction) and a probiotic each day. In the winter I take a supplement for dry eye, but I don't need it during the summer. I should probably take a fish oil and/or calcium, but I haven't been motivated to do it yet.

My daughter decided to go vegan in March, so she has a multivitamin and she takes the same probiotics as me. My son takes nothing and my husband takes fish oil, gingko (I think) and turmeric.

I take Biotin 10,000 mcg 2 x daily and D3 50mcg 2,000 IU - both "prescribed - OTC" by my Endocronologist three years ago.

I take a daily multivitamin as does my husband and daughter. Originally I just started my daughter on one because she is vegetarian. But now we all take them. I am also anemic and have to take iron supplements daily.

There’s what I should do......daily multi vitamin, iron and vitamin d and then there’s what I do.....none of it.

I probably should... but the vitamin/supplement aisle is scary intimidating, so I just avoid it all and eat my fruits and veggies. :giggle I'm at the age I really should be taking calcium I think. oops!

The only time I took vitamins on the regular was when I was pregnant with Sonnet and that's because I found an iron free prenatal gummy that didn't make my all day sickness worse.

When I was little, my mom would give me an iron pill, fluoride pill, calcium and a multivitamin...lets just say they ended up in game boxes, dresser drawers and down the toilet!!

I try. I'm not perfect at taking everything daily. I think I avg. remembering to take my vits about 4, 5 days per week. I take 1 (out of the 2 per day recommended) multi vitamin. I also take Vit D and a calcium (just started that this month). Sometimes I pop an Omega 3 or some B12 as well. I'm pretty good at eating lots of fruits and veggies though.

I’m taking extra vitamin C because of multiple bladder infections in the previous months, sometimes I take some multi vitamins but I forget them often...

I'm on a low carb diet and no longer have a thyroid so I take several vitamins. Calcium, Vit D3, B12, Magnesium and Probiotic.

I'm so bad about it. I get on a kick where I'll take a multivitamin for a while and then forget for a while.

scary and intimidating is exactly right! it was a little tempting to buy 'sleep' in a jar though but i thought maybe just giving my money to the kids as a bribe to keep the tv down on a weekend morning might be more effective!

i dont think you're alone, i think sales and M/V use must go way up in January and dip significantly by Feb :giggle

i imagine you would be and i'd rather spend money on them too - although DH just pulled over 4 and half kilos of sweet potatoes out of the ground the other day & we have butternuts everywhere at the moment too so the spending & variety isn't as great right now - i have the 'orange group' covered at least; lucky the kids eat pasta sauce and think tacos are all about veggies!

it's like we were separated at birth! (eletrolyte drinks pretty much got me through pregnancies) - does tap water not have fluoride routinely added to it there?? it's not in bottled water but it's in the 'town water' supply here (good for dental health etc)
