My mother in law is visiting right now. So it made me think: do you get many visitors? Or are you the one that visits others?

We rarely do these days. Our parents are getting to the point that they don't like to drive in the city. We get a ton of visitors at our place in Michigan though.

Nope and nope.

Both parents deceased. When my father was still alive, he only came once a year the last 5 to 7 years. The previous 10 years was twice a year. I was working so could not get away to see him. Went 3 times in 17 years. Other family I'm close to are right here in town. FL cousins I am close to I do try to see when they come to Michigan for 2 weeks during the summer. 3 hour drive is better than 18. Once I get some life things taken care of, I hope to be able to travel more which includes visiting family and various friends I've met online through scrapbooking.

We hardly got any visitors when we were down in Mesa. Since we have moved to Washington, our little grandkids come over every day as well as our son and daughter-in-law. They live right next door to us here. And we also get peacock and deer visitors! Awesome critters!! They come right into our yard. One of the male peacocks with his long beautiful feathers came right to our porch and almost to the front door this afternoon. The females come often, also. They don't have the long feathers. But their necks have the pretty colors on them. We are so loving it here!

My mom comes around once a week or so for an hour or two. Other than that no real visitors other than kids and grandkids, who have been here for 2 days :)

I love that people would rather visit Michigan than Chicago!

That would be so fun! I hope you are able to travel more soon.

That must be nice to have her visit once week. Is it always the same day?

Usually on Sunday afternoons. When the kids were little, she and my dad would come over on weekend because they knew it was easier for them to visit us than it was for us to visit them. It just became sort of a thing and she hates staying home lol.

No visitors here - my friends and I usually meet up for lunch (we are actually doing that tomorrow) or I am visiting my grandmother at her house (I'm going this weekend to help her with her laptop)

We get some visitors, living where we do. My sister was here for one night recently, she flew into Sarasota to visit her daughter and drove down to stay. My step grandsons were here for a week, too. We don't have to entertain them - they just sleep here. LOL We've having company this weekend.

When we first moved here (a tourist town), we had a lot of visitors, but over the years the flow has fallen off! My mom comes for dinner once a week and often stays over night. We also have quite a few people come to stay at our cabin. I enjoy having company as long as they don't stay too long!!! :crazy3

My parents live 3 Streets away from my house, I see them almost every day (they come to my house just to chat and drink some coffe and then they go home) kids can go to them on their own.
My parents in law live in a small village next to ours, I see them once a week, sometimes more depents on my workschedule.

We have lots of friends visiting for a coffee or a drink, in summer time for a BBQ, but since they are all living in our neigbourhood it's only for a couple of hours

Not for long periods of time...like sleeping at our house. All of our family and friends are here.

No we rarely get visitors, though this year we've had my 2nd son & dil visit for 4 days and my daughter and grand-d come for 2 days. 2 is the max# we can sleep so when Dick's Mesa 4 come we get a Residence Inn or the like for them. They usually come to DC and we see them for a day or so. This time Dick went to Antietam Battlefield with them while I did the DE meet up with @Tree City and @jk703.

Dick is more likely to visit his CA son and yearly he stops in to see his 89 yo sister & bil out in WA on his way to his Alaska fishing trip. His daughter is not the visiting type and also works nights. I am usually the one to visit NC son & family though Dick will sometimes stop in on his way to or from FL in the winter. Both of my parents have been dead since I was 31 and I'm an only child so there's never been that kind of family visiting. I usually saw my inlaws every other year for all the years we were out of the US.

We live away from extended family, so we usually visit them. (I wish people came to visit us more often, but it's just not a battle I wish to take on right now. And yes, I do think it'd be a "battle" to get my Midwest family to head to the East coast. This isn't a whine but just a statement.)

In fact, when I first mentioned getting together with @jk703 and @cookingmylife, I even said that we don't normally host lol! I have a few friends here in the neighborhood, and of course they come over for coffee every once in awhile, but it's not like I'm really Hosting Visitors when they're here. We sit at the dining table and have our snacks and gripe about our kids and DHs lol. What's funny is, all day Jenn, Maureen, and I just sat at my dining table too. I barely got up except to get more food from the kitchen a few feet away. When we bought our house, my main concern was getting comfortable sofas so people could sit and chat...now I realize my worry should have been comfortable dining chairs so we can sit and chat...and eat. :giggle

We usually visit others. Occaisionally my brother and Sister in law will visit or my BFF but that is about it. I was thrilled last weekend my nephew visited for a bit.

The population of our house as much as doubles every weekend with my kids' friends visiting. I love having people over despite being an introvert because it's easier than going out, and I'm also a bit of a homebody. Also, since the visitors are mostly my kids' or husband's friends, I don't have to be entertaining (I'm not an entertainer) and I can escape for some alone time if needed.

This!!! My husband and kids (almost all grown up now) have people over every Sunday night to watch movies. I usually sit in the other room and do my thing, which often is scrapping.

I see my parents about once a month - they live 40 minutes away. My sisters live in Michigan and I only see them when they travel to see my parents. We also travel a couple of times a year to visit my in-laws in Ky. So in general, we are the visitors instead of the hosts.

I totally get this. DD had a friend over yesterday afternoon, and she's the younger child so she was happy to have DS tag along with them lol. Since the 3 kids played nicely together, it let me hide in my office and scrap. It was lovely! I'm going to steal the Friday night movie idea from you. ;)

We are a bit of both. We are the only ones in our immediate family to have a car, so we do most of the visiting. But our family all live within a 20 minute bus journey of us so they often come to us too... They visit our house a lot more since we had the girls.
