How often do you upgrade?
Not very often due to lack of money
Do you do planned upgrades or just when things break, stop working or are too expensive to repair?
When things stop working and/or are too expensive to repair.
What was the last thing you upgraded?
My iPhone - I went from a 6s to an 8. Previous upgrade to that was when I upgraded my laptop to my desktop that I’ve had for 14 months now.
Do you do planned upgrades or just when things break, stop working or are too expensive to repair? I would say when things stop working or break.
What was the last thing you upgraded? A laptop. I took my laptop with me to the church to work on the history project with my cousin in January. It was so dang slow and all I was doing was word processing. I came home and searched to find when I bought it. It was a Win7 laptop with 4GB of memory that had been updated to Win10 in 2016 that had been purchased in 2011. As for desktop computers I do keep them a long time. 2019 a power outage during a tornado killed one that was over 7 years old so got a new one. It had issues almost from the beginning so I got this one March 2022. I keep monitors forever but did upgrade in December. The 2 monitors were not bought at the same time and the oldest one was giving me problems so I got 2 new ones at the same time (and upgraded in size). As for cell phone, since I don't use it much, I tend to keep them a few years. Current one is almost 4 years old. Was going to upgrade last fall and didn't but may do it this year since the new Samsung flip phone has been made even better.
I've only had two smartphones - an iPhone 6 (June 2015) which I replaced with an iPhone SE (2020) in Oct/Nov 2020 mostly b/c I wanted a better camera.
I upgraded my iPad Mini 2 (Nov 2013) to the Mini 6 (Fall 2021) b/c I could no longer update certain apps that I frequently used.
I'm still using WIN 7 desktops at work (July 2012) and at home. I did replace my 15+ year old monitors for flat widescreens about 3 years ago. My laptop is WIN 10, and is 4 or so years old, but still runs well (it's a gaming model) so I won't be replacing it for now.
I really dislike replacing my computers ... moving programs and data is a PITA, plus I invariably lose software programs that won't run on the newer operating systems.
How often do you upgrade? Usually only when we have to. My husband tends to go through phones much faster than anyone else! His is probably the newest... but my son has just started having his own phone, so we will see which one of them can take care of one the longest!

yep- usually broken and unable to repair. My ear buds were not working well and I did manage to take them apart completely and clean them all up and they are working again so hopefully I can get some more time out of them!
What was the last thing you upgraded? Husbands phone I think. My son saved up all his Christmas and Birthday money to get an Occulus. It's pretty fun actually and we've all been playing with it!
How often do you upgrade? Only when I absolutely have to!
Do you do planned upgrades or just when things break, stop working or are too expensive to repair? No planned upgrades here, it's all done on an ad hoc basis
What was the last thing you upgraded? I got a new laptop in January. I'm still dealing with some annoying little glitches with Photoshop, all of which remind me of how much I hate upgrading...
I upgrade my phone about every 2 years. I've been pretty lucky that I can usually sell my old phone for the out of pocket cost for a new one, so I upgrade since it doesn't tend to cost much.
With my macbook I tend to upgrade just when things go wrong. I'm on my second, my first I bought in 2012 - so about every 5 years?
How often do you upgrade?
As seldom as possible because I hate change. My last phone started making all my photos blurry and I still didn't want to upgrade!
Do you do planned upgrades or just when things break, stop working or are too expensive to repair?
Just when things break or stop working (like battery life).
What was the last thing you upgraded?
My laptop. I now have a laptop attached to monitors on a desk and I love having two big screens!
How often do you upgrade?
I try to get as much as I can for my money, but I do love to have the latest tech. It just depends on our finances and how the current tech is behaving.
Do you do planned upgrades or just when things break, stop working or are too expensive to repair?
I prefer to upgrade before things break or stop working, but sometimes things break unexpectedly and then I just try to be calm (and I'm usually not LOL) and repair or replace.
What was the last thing you upgraded?
I just moved to the Google Pixel 7 from the Google Pixel 3A because there was a great trade-in. My last computer purchase was in 2019 if I'm remembering correctly.
How often do you upgrade?
I upgrade because something isn't working right, is super slow, doesn't hold a battery charge, or won't work with new tech (like when apps I need won't work on an older phone). Also, if something is too expensive to repair, or it's close to the same price to upgrade rather than repair. There are some times that I plan an upgrade, but it's usually something that I know is getting close to end of life, like when I upgraded my Kindle Fire to a Kindle paperwhite.
What was the last thing you upgraded?
Hm. I changed ACDSee to a new program (Eagle) last week that's an upgrade to me. But, not a true upgrade since it's a different program. I did go from my old Moto Power to a Google Pixel 7 in November. I wanted to upgrade, and my kid needed an upgrade phone since his old phone (my old phone!) was not working well and wouldn't upgrade OS anymore. And since I don't trust him with a brand new phone yet...I got the upgrade, and he got an "upgrade".
The only thing that stands between me and constant upgrades is money. I love getting new tech and seeing it all up. I love it.
I don't really have a set upgrade plan. Normally I hold on to things until a must-have feature arrives. But I am a sucker for a new phone. I got my first smartphone in 2009, a Palm Pre and I'm now on my 10th phone. (I wish Palm had succeeded with WebOS. All my phones would have been WebOS phones.) I have a Galaxy S21 Ultra and I'm itching to buy a new phone.
I also love being at the front of something new. I was so happy when I finally got my invites to buy the OnePlus One phone and the original Echo. Yes, I'm nuts. Lol
