Uhm? Did you get the Turkey yet? - Pad Patter 11.11.2015

My mom is hosting. I'm making sweet potatoes, green beans, rolls and apple pie. Mom is making the turkey, cornbread dressing, gravy, pumpkin pie and a veggie platter along with appetizers. We just have to drive to their house, which is about 90 miles from us. I'm having an injection for the bulging disc in my neck this Friday (11/20), so hoping I will recover from the anesthesia quickly so I can feel up to making all the stuff and driving to their house. I just got back from picking up the groceries, and I went ahead and got the sweet potatoes, the apples and the rolls. I think I will boil and mash the sweet potatoes, mix in the cream and cinnamon and brown sugar, then freeze them until next week. The rolls are frozen, (gotta love Sister Schubert!), and the pie crust is refrigerated. I have an apple peeler/corer/slicer so getting the apple pie made goes really quickly.

I'm just blessed beyond!! We are having a houseful, a whole lot of single men from the church, I told them, no worries, pick up a pie from the store if ya want, but just come. ONe of the men came yesterday with a 22 pound turkey, just dropped it off. I almost cried. So precious to my heart!

It's just the three of us so I'm thinking we're going to keep it simple and just make a ham and potato casserole with some salad. There will of course still be pumpkin pie though.

Wow, Anne, that is so thoughtful of him. And something you can cross of your to do list.

This has been a crazy month. My dad fell ill and had no one to take care of him, so I had to go up north and bring him home to live with me. My husband is working out of town, and my allergies are kicking my bootie...like seriously kicking it. SO..... I ordered most of it from a local restaurant to be cooked and ready to pick up on Wednesday. The boys and I will all make a little something too and some deserts...and we're calling it good.

Anne, that's so awesome that he brought the turkey. Definitely a blessing!

Debra, how are things going with your dad being with you? I've thought about you quite a few times recently.

No Thanksgiving turkey to cook for us . . . we leave for DISNEY and we'll get a turkey meal out at a resort restaurant (or if someone isn't feeling the turkey, they can get whatever else is on the menu).

Anne, I will tell my Emma to come to your house for Thanksgiving dinner if that is where all the single church men are going to be!!! She is a fantastic cook too so she can help you with your dinner............ she is 25, any around her age for her?

I already have our Turkey 21lbs and picking up a ham also for those that like ham. It will be just our family there, which means 9. This totally reminds me to take that turkey out of the freezer and put into the frig once it is a week out.
