AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAh!:helpy
I just realzed it is just a few weeks away. Thanksgiving.
We are having a housefull of peeps, and I have gotten nothing!:imok
I'm buying and my kids are cooking, but I think I may have just freaked myself out!
:sense

Most of us aren't meat eaters in our house ... so our free "Shoprite" turkey will be donated to a needy family! How fun that the kids are doing the cooking this year Anne! Is that a first? Oh can't wait to see the fun photos of those moments. Sounds lovely!

I am walking down 5 houses to our thanksgiving dinner! We are in charge of potato salad, mashed potatoes, and pasta salad. I might try to add in there a dessert.... maybe some cupcakes. Poor Bianca never eats dessert on Thanksgiving unless I bring some non-pumpkin, non-apple something. LOL!!!

I have not... only because I'm not cooking. My mom is this year! Yay! I get to bring a side, dessert and an appetizer! :)

There will only be three of us this year, and I have to work a 1/2 day - I'll probably just get a turkey breast to put in the crockpot & do some dressing & a couple veggies, that'll be enough for us.

There will be around 12 adults, and at least 6 kids at our house. It is Pot Luck style, but I am not in charge of turkey. But now that I've actually counted, I can relay that number to my Sister in law, who is in charge of it. Haha.

This year we are traveling during Thanksgiving week. We just have to show up with our appetites. :giggle

Actually, I do help with meal prep most of the time.

It's just the four of us and our turkey is already purchased. We travel to our place in Michigan for Thanksgiving, so we bought early and my husband put it in the freezer up there when we went to winterize a couple of weeks ago. We discovered the roast from frozen turkeys (no thawing) last year, so that's what we get. If I was fixing for company, I would probably do different, but for just us, they're perfect!

Uggghh Please don't make me think about it. I am hosting over 25 people this year. Yes 25!! I dont even know where I am going to put all these people in my house as I do not have one room that will hold this many people. The majority of these peeps are my brothers girlfriend and her entire family who all happen to live with her. Therefore I am told I cannot have him and her and not invite them as well. So.....I have told him he is cooking the turkey, he is going to deep fry it. (Yes i sure did) and I will do the rest of the items except for a few which I will delegate to others who are also coming. So i bought a HUGE apple pie at Costco and put it in the freezer and a ham as well. I also already have rolls and plates napkins and utensils. ( I am going plastic for easy clean up) I have to rent tables and chairs and figure out how I am going to distribute them so we can all sit and feel together without being cramped. I cannot tell you what my stress level is right now just thinking about it all. I think I need a Xanax........Calgon take me away..........

We are sort of done with the big Thanksgivings for the time being, but haven't bought our turkey yet. This year, I think it will just be me, Tim, Kennedy and my grandma for dinner. Jessica has to work. Tim's dad has Alzheimers and it is getting to the point where he doesn't do well at our house, so I think we'll just visit him, but not have him over. Tim's brother/sis-in-law and family aren't coming this year (so far...yay!). My mom/brother/sister don't come to my house on Thanksgiving because my grandma does. So it will be very low-key this year. And I am totally excited about it being that way. :)

aaaaaaaaaaargh! It was on my list for today! and nope, didn't get it...Friday for sure! lol

My SIL does the turkey: thank goodness! The beauty of a big family is that we all "take" certain holidays. I do Halloween and 4th of July...

We go to a friend's house each year for the last 5-6 - it's their thing and don't want to rotate. Even when my in-laws come to town they are invited there too. The husband smokes one turkey, roasts another... so delicious! Normally I make all the pies and a couple of sides. I'm having surgery on the 17th, so I'm not certain I'll be even able to join in, but at least I know my family is well fed:) And I'll get a to-go box, which is perfect timing because I prefer early dinner and they do lunch.

We are heading to family in California for T'giving but my MIL has already informed me that I will be making the casseroles (corn, squash, broccoli). They don't understand casseroles there :giggle

Nope, no turkey. We are a total ham household. It must be out love of the bacon and being Southern.
I do have an extensive list this year as we always host other fire family and our own kids. Seriously, it will take me 2 days to cook....love. it. ♡

Husband and I both took Wednesday prior off to bake/prepare our house. We bought an extra table, which I think should be set up in the garage for ease of access and buffet style line. We'll see. :)

I never buy the turkey because my MIL is picky about getting a fresh turkey, not frozen and always wants to buy and cook the turkey. I do all the other stuff and host at my house and that's is perfect for everyone! :)

We've had so many different Thanksgiving meal arrangements over the past several years it's tough to remember, divorces, kids in college and moved out etc. This year, my daughter will be home the 18th and stay until the 25th. Her boyfriend will be here on the 23rd. She asked for Thanksgiving on Tuesday with him here and to invite family. So we'll do sort of a mini Thanksgiving here (and OMG I DO have to buy a turkey! that I hadn't thought about). Then on Thursday the family will gather again at my cousin's new home for it's first big family party and I only have about 4 things to bring for that one. My daughter will celebrate Thanksgiving with her boyfriend's family Thursday after he and his dad are off work (police officers). And then she is hosting a Friendsgiving potluck typ event at their apartment on Saturday. She is busily trying to figure out how to decorate on a budget yet still include the crafty things she likes to do, how to guesstimate portions for big guys, how to assign items so that you don't end up with holes in the menu. She's forgoing a turkey and they are going to grill chicken wings, I think!

So now I have to think about frozen turkey or fresh again... I haven't made the turkey in years.

Thankfully, we are heading home to Arkansas for Thanksgiving this year. So, my mom will be getting the Turkey. Happy to help her cook it but I'm glad I don't have to buy it, store it, and thaw it this year!!! :)

I can't imagine what size you need for your brood, Anne!
