Are you a trend follower?

I'm not much of a trend follower and some trends I just don't get, but if I do, I usually adopt things a bit (or a lot) late and don't appreciate the trend until it's 'so last year', in pretty much all aspects of my life.
Like this week, I used the Veggie Spiral cutting machine thingy I bought when they were just past what would be considered 'the latest trend' (ie. some other new product had come out that was on every second tv ad) and I'm admitting it has stayed in the box since then but NOW the whole family have enjoyed zucchini noodles (or Zoodles (what a fun word!)) for the first time - so we are on trend, but a little late. I see lots of zucchini and spiral everything in our future.

Scrapwise, it took me a while to get into gold foil look, chalky stuff, and i shake my head now but I didn't understand chevron to start with (it's just a zig zag, i thought, it won't be as useful as stripes or polkadots, i thought).

me either Justine.. I have never been a trender.. if I like I get etc. I kept clothes from the 80's I liked and was able to get back in them a few years ago and they were back in style! I buy if I like something .. I never need to be "first" lol!

I fall into the
someone says, ooh you are so trendy, where did you find that shirt? I answer in the back of my closet!? lol
but...........that being said, when the bright neon color shirts came out...I jumped on that trend, like crazy...and it may pass, heck it could be gone..and I will hang with it forever! I love BRIGHT and wild colors!
and songs, oh my poor children....I will hear a song that is on top months, sometimes years too late and sing it loud in the store..and people laugh, my children cringe
"my momma don't like you and she likes everyone" comes to mind..and oh my "hey soul sistah, I don't wanna miss ah single thing you do you..."
ghahha
and funny about the zoodler, I bought one for me and one for my Dad. I used mine once. My Dad all the time! lol

I will never as long as I live understand the owl trend that went through digital a couple of years ago.

The only page I've ever made with owls on it talked abt how much I hated owls! :giggle

I usually adopt things late or not at all. I will never accept leggings as outerwear, without a LONG, very long shirt that covers all the bits.
I love Zoodles and have even enjoyed butternut tagliatelli with an awesome pasta sauce.
Scrapping wise, chevrons too, never really understood them, and yet I love Lynn's and use them as arrows all the time. I don't love the chalkboards either, unless it's back to school. I love sequins though and scatters. Dotty paper will always be a last resort, a great stripe though, that would be a first choice.

Nope, I don't pay much attention to trends. My fashion is "comfy." My scrapping style is to fill the page with lots of pictures and journaling and few colorful embellishments that enhance my story.

:giggle That's basically my take on leggings, too!

I discovered maxi skirts just as they were fading out of style, but they are SO comfy (how did I not find them before?!?!) that I wear them all the time now and don't care!

ohh I think I have always been a trend rebel LOL I never wanted to wear what other people wore (much to my mother desperation LOL) and I think trends in so many things are financially motivated....

sometimes there are things that are almost inevitable, but I try to keep to what i love, and to always keep as unique as possible.... I wanted to try the spirilizer but the good machines were so expensive....so I just forgot about it....

I'm too tired to think about trends.

I told myself (when I was much younger) that I would never be that person who wasn't on top of the latest trends, music and movies.

Then I had kids. Need I say more? I've only heard of 3 of the Academy Award best picture nominees. I'm so out of it!

LOL owls are so divise, they are definitely a love or hate thing and i know my MIL is in the hate camp and i'm in the love camp so i often dress DD in owl shirts and use owl gift wrap and such LOL (and i actually love your page!)

:compcoffee Neon made me cringe seeing it in the adult size, not exercise clothes section but DD was happy to wear it and i'm not a fan of kids dressed in all black like they're in mourning all the time so we went with it - it makes me sad that DS has moved into the 'older boys' section where so much is black and bland

I'm known as a trendsetter in my circle. Basically, I'm the only one willing to try some crazy stuff. We went to Chuck E. Cheese's a few weeks ago. I wore this ridiculously high top knot on my head. I liked it & you know I have to stand out from the other soccer moms. Anyway, the next week, the new Simply Be ad comes out & the girl is dressed exactly how I dress with the ridiculously high top knot hairdo. We all got a good laugh out of that.

I love maxi skirts and wore one to church this morning. I would like to buy more, but can't find them! Leggings aren't pants...period! They look cute when worn with a long tunic. But they look horrible when worn with a short shirt. I work on a college campus and so many times, I want to sing "those aren't pants". I would also like to ask some people if they looked in a full length mirror before leaving their home. I don't care if you've done your hair -- all I want is for students to be dressed decently! I know I'm old! (Fortunately, my students are mostly mature adults because I don't teach credit classes.)

i don't own a maxi skirt yet - how many years am i behind on that one?! LOL!
Maxi dresses were pretty popular in 2010, and I know that because I had one or two on my "rewards" list for my wedding weightloss. But the style evolved a bit, and moved to different types of maxi dresses, and then just skirts. The one I bought was on a clearance rack at Walmart in July '16 before I went on my business trip last year. So.... knowing I'm late to the game always, the skirts/dresses probably started being popular in 2008 or 9, and that makes you... 8-9 years late. :giggle

I have to see a trend for a long time before I start to like it & I'll try it.

Take skinny jeans for example. When they first came out. I was like, no way! I will NEVER wear those. Well, what am I wearing right now?

That pretty much sums it up for me.
