Tonsils?

Oh no! I'm so sorry! I was so happy that your experience was going to be better than mine. Shoot! I sure hope it doesn't last much longer for you. I can't remember when I started to feel normal again. But even after the pain tapered I know it took a long time before my voice sounded normal.

Remember resembling Richard Nixon for about a week. Jowl city. And praising the good Lord for jello. Speedy, and as jowl-less and less pain as possible recovery to you.

I had mine out last year.. at 30.. I have to tell you it was a ROUGH recovery..almost 3 weeks before I could eat well.. and I got a severe infection a few weeks after.. my throat split open in the back and I had to have to go in and be put under AGAIN to seal the wound.. NOT A FAN!!! but since I have had them out.. I have been strep free.. and actually had better results with less ear issues as well

How are you feeling today, Melissa? I've heard it is super rough. I get tonsillitis at least once a year and it is so miserable, they have mentioned taking mine out but I'm trying to hold off.

Jakers had them out at age 3 (he had sleep apnea) and it was such a piece of cake for him. Wish it was the same for adults!

Well this is day 11 and I'd call it a win that I used mostly Tylenol instead of lortab. Mostly. :) I never imagined things would hurt this long. For instance, talking for any length of time is excruciating. And I have a husband and a 10 and 7 year old. :).

I'm also not eating much, just a very limited diet of scrambled eggs. Sweet rice, and applesauce. Anything else is like sending gravel down my throat. I'm very ready to eat some real food again! One positive thing is that I've weaned myself off coffee and soft drinks. Now, I don't have any intention of permanently giving up coffee but I will take this opportunity to give up soft drinks!

Oh and you're right about a strange voice! It's all nasally and thick and hopefully temporary. I have also become a snoring machine. My poor husband had been escaping to the couch. I'm assuming this little slide effect will go away as well.

I still have mine...my oldest DS had them out a week before he started 2nd grade. His tonsils were so bad that he was constantly infected...the ENT said he has never seen worse. :( He had his out within a week of seeing the doctor. My DS had a rough time recovering and it was weeks before he talked "normal".

I had mine taken out when I was 13...I don't remember too much pain...but I do remember getting to eat as much ice cream as I wanted!!!
