Do you like tomato juice? It's a simple question, but one that can spark a lot of debate in. Some people love it, while others can't stand the thought of it. Personally, I'm a huge fan of tomato juice on planes, but not at home. There's something about being in the air that makes tomato juice taste better, and I'm not alone in thinking this. According to a survey by the airline Lufthansa, tomato juice is the most popular drink among passengers, with over 40% of respondents saying they order it while flying. But why does tomato juice taste better on planes? There are a few theories. One is that the dry cabin air affects our sense of taste, making sweet and salty flavors more intense. Another is that the low air pressure at altitude makes our taste buds less sensitive to certain flavors, and tomato juice is one of the few things that still tastes good. Of course, not everyone agrees with this. Some people love tomato juice no matter where they are, while others can't stand it no matter what. So, what do you think? Do you like tomato juice? And if so, do you prefer it on planes or at home? P.S. I spent about 20 min trying to write this post, wording and re-wording it... and then decided to run it through chatGPT... and voila - AI is cool
I tend to go with apple juice on planes. Interesting though, so many details I had no idea of. I need to try it next time.
I like tomato juice.. don't always drink it but I think I prefer it warm than cold and sprinkle a little salt on it... We drink V8 more than just tomato juice but I love either And it does taste good on a plane or on a buffet at hotels
I totally agree with you, every time we travel by Lufthansa, the best is the tomato juice, I think they add a little bit lime, not sure, but taste a little bit like lime to my mind. In another hand, I really love cold tomato juice, with celery and lime, or something that it's called gazpacho andaluz, that doesn't includes bread, and cheap version is able to find in Lidl, but the original recipe taste 100 thousands times better, by the way my favorite drink during hot summer days.
As a child I always drank tomato juice when we were on vacation and eating at a restaurant for breakfast. Disliked orange juice in those days because of the pulp that was in it. These days I'll drink either although I buy apple juice to drink at home. As for a plane, it has been 10 years since I've been on one and I honestly don't remember if I even had a drink!
It's been several years since I've flown, but I suffer from motion sickness. Needless to say, tomato juice isn't a great option. I don't care for V8 juice, but I do love tomato juice. I prefer it cold from the fridge, poured into an equally cold glass. It's something I generally drink on its own and not paired with any food. Now I want some tomato juice!
Not a fan of tomato juice, it simply doesn't appeal to me. Funny thing is I LOVE creamy tomato soup with crushed crackers. That said, I don't make it often, maybe a few time a year. Of course, now I want some soup!
YES!!! I am exactly the same way! I do occasionally have a tomato juice otherwise, but it's a must on a plane. I think part of it for me is that is kind of filling if I'm flying over a normal meal time. I think now, more than anything, it's habit and just part of the journey!
I never buy tomato juice at the grocery store to drink at home, but I do often order a tomato juice on a flight. In part because, unless you're flying first-class (which I never do: too expensive!), most airlines no longer provide meal service. I mean, if you're flying economy, you're lucky to be tossed a bag of peanuts or pretzels, nowadays. And tomato juice is filling, as @tkradtke points out, it's like a cross between a beverage and a food group!...
I don't like tomato juice unless it's in the form of a Bloody Mary. Part of my issue is I have reflux and tomatoes are are big no-no. But I don't consider it a big loss.
I LOVE tomato juice!! Funny thing is, I rarely buy it. Most of the time when I have it, it's out somewhere. Not sure why that is lol. I also love a good Bloody Mary or Bloody Maria!!
I've never wanted to drink tomato juice. Even now, despite my tastebuds having evolved as I've become vegan, it still doesn't interest me. I do like tomato soup though. Is there a difference other than the temperature? I haven't even tried it since I was a child. My dad drank it a lot.
gazpacho is the best soup ever... I can't believe I competely forgot it existed... now I know what to cook this weekend!!!
