when you aren't online and see something, smell something or even taste something that brings a certain person or a certain event to mind, hose that make you smile when realize ...

For example.... every time I see Ed Sheeran on Tv in an interview or that he comes on the radio when I'm driving, Ed Sheeran brings to mind Julie @mrs2a50
I remember her posting she loved him a few years back.... I know it shouldn't surprise me as music is a traveler and even more so in our technological, world wide style, but I remember it surprised me a bit, but in the best of ways....

Then when the theme song for Cheers the TV show plays, no matter where I am, the image ro me now is The Lilypad, as Laura once said that this was what we are: (and nailed it!!!)
"you wanna go where everybody knows your name"
I had watched the show years ago and loved it, but now definitively means The Pad/ Laura @lmccandless

every time we cook my mum's recipes or eat out some Syrian or Greek or Moroccan food, my mind brings Maureen @cookingmylife
there are many, many more, but would love to know.....
so, do you have that kind of thing?
what is it for you? and who is the person that comes to mind and make you smile?

This happens to me just about every day!

Most recent example, because I just finished folding and putting away some laundry . . . while doing chores I often think of my husband's mother, because she scorned me for my easygoing nature about housekeeping.

Seeing an El Camino reminds me of my college boyfriend because that's what he drove when we met.

I'll hear songs on the radio that take me back to hearing my daughter sing them on stage.

I'm having trouble thinking of examples, but I know this happens to me all the time.

For me, it's usually a song that reminds me of someone.

Duran Duran - my oldest brother

Boyz II Men - another brother

The Humpty Dance reminds me of my brother Dominic. He put on an afro wig at my wedding and danced to this song. LOL

Ice Ice Baby reminds me of my bestie.

I could go on....ha!

ohhh don't even remind me of my mother in law!!!!!
she tried to tell me of because she saids I wasted lots of water when washing lettuce....and I was already 40 when this was happening, Andy sad it was because she was post 2nd world war and they had to ration everything, but this was happening in 96/97....so...we moved on, plus pesticides are a lot more than after the war, so, yes, I wash lettuce leaf by leaf!!!
:perfect

and yes, so many examples I lost count too...
Every time I see a new you tuber girl at the piano I think of you because of Rhiannon (not sure I spelled it right?) because I remember learning about her being a performer at some point :)

I understand older people expressing their opinions about how things should be done based on their experiences. The can have great advice for us. But the manner in which they express those opinions can be a problem. I never even got a chance to talk about my different choices in life. She just complained to my husband and eventually decided she'd rather never see us than learn about us.

You spelled Rhiannon perfectly! :love She has a new recording up on Sound Cloud. I hope this embed code works . . .

Well, it doesn't actually embed here, but you can click and it opens in a new tab or window.

yay! I spelled right!!!! I remember either you talking in a chat or you making a page and then us talking about her...
I ll go have a look!!!
regarding the "advice" I don't mind if an older person approaches me with nice manners and explains why they do it the other why...in that case I may even contemplate if it is better.... but she was .... a bit over the top..she grabbed the lettuce from my hands, got in the sink and showed me that if you pass water lightly in the bunch and then shake it to take away the water you use less water... I'm all up for saving the earth, but not at the cost of me eating earth with pesticides because I didn't wash my lettuce properly!!! :giggle

I think of you whenever I hear this song. Or the "The Girl from Ipanema".

Oh I sung Girl from Ipanema so , so much that I ended up kind of disliking it.... I LOVE the Barry Manilow Copacabana, I remember when I was pregnant (1995) my best friend cam,e over to visit it wasn't Andy's cup of tea so I took the advantage that Gullermo loved musicals, so we went together to see the show, was amazing!!

There are many things that remind me of you, but on all the LDS people's encounters I have been having... you, Kayla & Linda have been in my mind a lot!

I took a bite of a peppermint flavored salt water taffy one day and it was an instant trip back to my childhood! Just like that! I was back in Salt Lake City at Christmas time with my family in my great Aunts' home. The memories just flowed thru me so fast and so vivid. It was such a delightful experience. The smell of cucumbers, sliced onions and vinegar takes me back to dinners with my grandparents and great grandparents. Potatoes and gravy, roast beef, and my great grandma's dinner rolls. And the smell and taste of watermelon takes me back to times with my Dad's brother and his family and our summer vacations together. I love these little trips back thru time to such wonderful places!

Smells:
Carmex (I have his last tube that I finished off that I cannot bring myself to throw away), pipe tobacco and wood shavings will ALWAYS and forever remind me of my dad...
The smell of coffee always remind me of my hubby, he works for a coffee company!
Aqua di Gio reminds me of my ex...thankfully it's not popular anymore LOL
The perfume Poison will always remind me of my mom.

Songs:
Any Willie Nelson song will always remind me of my dad.
Gary Allan's song Best I Ever Had and GNR will always remind me of my hubby.
Acon's song Don't Matter will always take me back to my pregnancy with Rileigh...she would stomp on my bladder anytime that song came on!
A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera's song Say Something will always remind me of Sonnet
Elvis songs will always remind me of my mom

We were just talking about the smells & memories thing today at work! There was a certain disinfectant the first office I worked at used & we got some today. TOTAL memories!

Also- My mom was a finance manager for car dealerships my entire childhood & she always had a new 'demo' or loaner car from work. But she also ALWAYS made me car sick- SO new car smell now INSTANTLY makes me carsick! lol! :D

Whenever I think of London or South America I think of @MrsPeel, whenever I’m struggling in pain or with health issues I often think of @MrsPeel again or @gonewiththewind. Whenever I think about Vancouver, Canada or going to a scrapping retreat (where I met Rae) I think of @bcgal00

I hate you have pain/health issues, but I agree, when I'm feeling alone and scared and tired and hurting, it's a comfort to know that I'm not struggling alone. Not that I want y'all to hurt, as I often pray for y'all, but it encourages me to know that y'all are doing it, too, and making it, and then I know I can do it, too! ((HUGS))

Fairy gardens make me think of @lmccandless. Every time I see that stuff on sale, I think of her.

Napa, Bodega Bay, & cheeseburgers grilled on a car make me think of @AnneofAlamo.

Funny Southern stuff makes me think of @gonewiththewind @Danyale. I never did buy that Kentucky Fried Chicken candle!

Avocado recipes make think of @Lena Gardner & I feel so guilty every single time I let an avocado go rotten.

There's tons of stuff I associate with @MrsPeel. I'm not kidding, I don't know how many times I've bragged on her about all the languages she speaks (but always apologizes for).

I'm sure there's more, but that's what's coming to my head right now.

i was thinking this the other day! it's like if i leave the computer, even for a second, to go to the shops and such, it's like the universe is telling me i really need to go home...

Whenever I hear about South Africa and running out of water, I think of @Eyeore :cry:pray
I also think of her when I see Winnie the Pooh though. :thumbsups

okay, funny, I was in a skit with our drama troupe at church...it was called dancing with the devil, and I was Carmen MIranda...and well, I thought of @MrsPeel thru my whole chica chica boom chic dance! I just could see Cynthia, with fruit in her head, a cute top and boom boom! lol here is a page of the outfit
