I haven't traveled a lot.
Of course I know California and Virginia the best because those are the two states I've lived in.
I've been to all the states west of the Rockies except Montana or Idaho, but I don't remember Colorado, Wyoming, or New Mexico at all because I went there when I was only 4. When I was still a kid my family went to Nevada and Arizona a couple of times, up through my teen years, so I remember those. Especially Arizona, because I've been back there as an adult. I was also an adult before I saw Washington. In fact it was my first time flying in a commercial plane in 1996 when my husband and a couple of our friends flew up to Seattle for a weekend. (I'd flown with my sister's husband in a small plane a couple of times to get to Phoenix).
My first time leaving the western half of the U.S. was also in 1996, for Christmas, when my husband and I met his family in New Jersey. We also drove in to New York City the evening after we arrived to Madison Square Garden to see a hockey game. I vaguely remember tall buildings in the dark, and a lot of steps, but I was so tired, I fell asleep in our box seats at the game and remember none of it!
Since we moved to Virginia in 2000, I've added two countries and several more states to my list of places I've been:
Paris, France
Stockholm, Sweden
Washington, D.C.
Maryland
Pennsylvania
(and of course, we've driven through a bit of West Virginia on the way)
upstate New York
North Carolina
South Carolina
I think that's all. But it's midnight and I should be getting to bed so this might not be 100% accurate.
My husband's travels would be a much much longer list! He was well traveled before we even met, having lived in several places growing up -- New York, Louisiana, Ohio, Utah-- and he also went on a couple of study abroad types of programs in high school or college, one to New Zealand, the other to Paris. He started college in Washington, D.C. and finished in California (where we met!). And then he started traveling on business. Some trips to China, and to many of the states including New Jersey, Rhode Island, Oregon and Idaho.
