Hey gang! TGIF! I hope everyone has a great weekend.

What do you have planned?

Tonight, I am going to a benefit dinner for the assistant director of my daughter's theater group. She's a young college student who was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. The benefit is to help raise money for her care. She's been such a fighter...we're so glad to support her in any way we can. Then, tomorrow, I am going with my dad to the Cleveland Clinic. He and I have been asked to meet with a group of medical professionals about the role of family advocacy in the integrative care of laryngectomy patients. As many of you know, my dad has battled cancer twice in the last few years. I've been deeply involved in his care, so tomorrow is real opportunity to help make things better for other people facing this life-altering surgery. Sounds like heavy stuff, but I really feel so blessed to be able to make a difference in this small way! Of course, Sunday is Mother's Day. I can't wait to celebrate with my mom and grandmother. It's rare that we get to be together on this holiday, but since I am visiting this week, it worked out for me to share it with them.

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there. Enjoy the weekend!

My Goodness. You go girl! Awesomeness that you do so much and still have time for us.

I'm thinking my weekend is boring in comparison. The immediate family is gathering for a barbecue with my mother-in-law on Sunday :pigout and my mothers day treat from my sons is they help me with all the yard work tomorrow. :yesss So things should be spiffy for Mom's day. I'm waiting to see how my sweetie outdoes my sons..:hummm

Laura, my heart goes out to the young woman in your post--how heartbreaking!! I just hate cancer so much!!!
And what an amazing opportunity you are having at Cleveland Clinic--I love that. I think that family advocacy is huge and so important for everyone to be aware of.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms!

We don't have huge plans. Micah is working nights this weekend, so he is already gone until tomorrow. The boys are going to their grandparents and i am having a little girls night with a friend.

Laura, you have a full weekend of really special events! Enjoy your time with your dad and mom!

We are tree shopping tomorrow, then headed to our favorite winery (didn't I say that last weekend?? :wine) And then Sunday I'm taking my mom to get a pedicure!

Sounds like an amazing weekend Laura!

Not many plans here, just a quiet one celebrating Sunday with my family and hopefully getting a sleep-in haha!

Happy Mum's Day to all the Mothers out there xx

Well I am currently recovering from a cyst that burst in my lady parts so I'm just going with the flow. Got a few things to do on Monday but til then im just resting

I am always saying that you are one of a kind, & I am quiet sure everyone agrees.

I know the feeling about being able to give.... but most of the time I was actually being paid for it..I worked at the National Health Trust for North West London and University College of London's Hospital as an advocate, that included Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital...when I was 4 & half month pregnant I asked my boss please not to send me to GOS as I just couldn't deal with it... by the time Sarita was born I had been called to work for immigration service so I did less and less health work... you are an amazing woman and there should be more Lauras in the world :)

I was actually coming to say I have been trying to organize myself after I had over a week with my right arm in a sling...so now I'm getting better and dealing with my (huge!) to do list..... which includes the pad's European meet- I'm just waiting to have more info about another operation Sarita needs to have (in her foot) so I will know if I can travel or not....

Weekend will be dedicated to catch up scrapping the challenges and catching up with the galleries!!!!! I have some shopping to do as I have a couple of coupons too :)

ETA: Happy Mother's Day girls, I always forget as where my mum lives is in October, and not sure when it is here in the UK :giggle

That's a plate full Laura and all such important work, you amaze me my friend! Our weekend is fairly typical except for Mother's Day of course. Rugby Friday night, Dad and Tate scout campout Saturday night and family time Sunday. I wish you could record things at the Cleveland Clinic for us, that would be such a kick!

Oh man, cancer sucks so much.

DH is on call this weekend. Went in last night for a study..found out on the way in that there was one already ordered for today so he decided to just spend the night at the hospital. Not expecting him to make it home tonight either..but hopefully tomorrow. At least in his line of work there are always beds for him to sleep in..lol.

So it's just me and DD hanging out for the weekend. We're planning on watching a movie later (The Princess Bride was requested). We're doing some cleaning and organizing right now. Hoping to get started on a scrapbooking project or two I've got cooking up in my head.

Sounds like a full weekend Laura, my thoughts to that young lady. What an experience you will be having with your dad, wonderful to help pass on information and educate others.

My weekend plans have gone out the window. Supposed to be Finn's obedience class, out for lunch with my boy and then his first baseball game of the season.

Braeden hit a deer tonight. He's shaken but not injured thankfully, the deer was killed and my car left on the flat bad of a tow truck with a crunched front end and leaking fluid. Tomorrow will be spent trying to get a rental car and have all that done in time to get Braeden to his baseball game.

here we had a week of illness, blegh! my little lady Rosalie had a bad cold, and she brought all over to me...
Happily today finally i feel a little better, but not the most.

Otherwhise we had plans to go out with the kids, but now we had a lazy stay at home weekend. I did get spoiled today for mother;s day. But next to this we didn;t do any special.

Oh goodness! My heart goes out to that young woman. I hope the benefit was a smashing success. I also hope that everything went well at the Clinic with your Dad. What a great opportunity!

I had a weird weekend that just *poof* was gone. I spent time on both Saturday and Sunday working on a Wax Museum project that my son had due today. Wasn't exactly thrilled to have that to work on over Mother's Day, but I was spending time with my son, so that's good right? ;)

Saturday we had two soccer games and my hubby went fishing so I spent the day trying to catch up on the laundry monster in my basement.

Happy Belated Mother's Day, everyone!

I hope that the benefit was a huge success for that young lady, Laura! It's always heartwarming to hear the stories of support and help that people give. Sounds like a great time for you and your family to open up and give lots of information to the clinic. Hoping it went well!

Jaye - Hoping Braeden is ok - sounds scary!

We had a girls night out in Atlantic City... so we did a little gambling, a bit of eating, and LOTs of catching up! It was wonderful... but a late night. So, I napped a little on Saturday and we just hung around home. Sunday, DH and the boys made breakfast and then we went to the beach. I was upset that I forgot my camera... but we took my mom out for lunch, and hung out for a bit... before back to the regular sunday - grocery, laundry, relaxing.

thanks Jenn, he's ok thankfully, no injuries and we have our rental car. Unfortunately he can't drive the rental until I hear from the adjuster because he is a 'young driver'. Hoping I hear from someone today with at least a little bit of information, never had to use my insurance before (a good thing I know).

How scary! So glad that Braeden wasn't injured in the accident.

Happy Belated Mother's Day everyone!

We went out to my favourite restaurant, one of the best Chinese restaurants in the city. It looks like a dive from the outside but the food is amazing. Good thing we had a reservation - the restaurant was packed!
