It's teacher appreciation week at our school and I'm on the committee. Not good timing with iNSD this week, but I didn't have a choice. We are doing a Harry Potter theme and it's turning out wand-erful!

We are doing something special each day.

We made wanted posters for all the teachers and staff and put them up last Friday so they would have them this morning at the Hogwarts Express Breakfast.

We had the kids do notes for their teachers and we're delivering them on Tuesday by owl post (owl balloon with the notes attached). We are also doing a Honeydukes Candy shop in the teacher's lounge that day.

Wednesday we are giving the teachers cozy socks and a laundry basket to collect all the treats their students bring them.

Thursday we are giving them pretzel wands and Scholastic Dollars gift cards.

And on Friday we are doing a Great Hall luncheon. I'm projecting the Great Hall scene on the wall and we'll line up the tables like in the Great Hall and have floating candles and other HP-ish decorations. It's a lot of work, but we want our teachers and staff to know how much we appreciate them. Plus, it's been fun working with the other moms to come up with all the HP ideas.

How about you? Does your school go all out for teacher appreciation? Have you helped with teacher appreciation week? Do your kids love doing teacher appreciation activities and giving their teacher thank you notes and/or gifts?

Kayla, that is SO FUN! You are taking care of the teachers and staff, as they deserve. :) TBH, this year I just gave money for the gift cards the PTA buys every teacher. I do little things throughout the year for the teachers (even if it's just buying Purell or Kleenex lol!) and I volunteer in DS's class once a week...maybe that lets me feel like I have an excuse to just throw money at the PTA lol! They do a great job making sure all of the teachers/staff are taken care of.

Sara, That's awesome you're able to help in DS's class each week. My DD's teacher hasn't needed much help in the classroom this year. She's in 6th grade so it's more student lead now, but I've certainly been in the throw money at the PTA situation many times before too (definitely did that for the school play. I didn't want to go in and help that early in the morning). It's all good though. They need money as well as volunteer hours and you should feel good about any way you are able to help out. I know every little bit helps and they are so grateful for any and all help (time or monetary).

Wow! That's a lot! Love the theme. I don't remember anything like that at all when I was a student and when I was a teacher there were just some small celebrations. Now with my own children, we homeschool. All 3 of my kids have expressed their appreciation on a few occasions. :D Usually just with words, but that's fine with me.

That's just awesome, Kayla! So much thought went into that and of course you had to know a lot about Harry Potter, which I don't. I'm familiar with some of it, but just the basic words and names. I love it!

The teachers NEED to be appreciated for the extraordinary work they do! Very nice!

You know that phrase, "Too many cooks in the kitchen"? Sometimes I think it's best if I just hand over my money and let others "cook"!

That's so cool!! I love it!! It seems like the elementary schools get so much more stuff like that than we do at the high school level. We do usually get donuts or something brought in one day, but that's about it lol.

I love that Kayla!
It's not known here in the Netherlands, last couple of years they have 'juffendag' it's a day with games and treats for the kids and most kids give a gift to the teachers.
I always try to make a beautiful present and I encourage the children to make something (a drawing or write a postcard) themselves.

With 4 kids and a job with different shifts it takes a lot of planning to help in each class, but since all teachers know I'm creative they know where to find me when they need help.

How fun! Our PTA goes all out- we spoil the teachers pretty rotten! ;) I also make super cute gifts for them- last year I did these: You can buy a set of redbox codes & have them mailed to yourself- I made cute little cards & then filled the bag with popcorn & their favorite candy! Super fun & different than a starbuck gc!

I know what ya mean about the high school teachers. Sadly, I admit that I don't do much for them. Maybe it's because my kids have 8 different teachers and it feels overwhelming to come up with that many gifts. Plus, I don't think teenagers think it's cool to take a gift to their teacher.

oh yes, they are definitely blessed by your creative talents. I can't tell you how many times I've used my digi scrappin skills and creativity to help teachers in tons of ways... bulletin boards, party games, decorations, class books, etc.

What a cute idea! I just might have to copy you. thanks for the inspiration!

Our teachers have really earned their week of appreciation around here! They've been down at the capital for a week, pushing for better funding for education (I'm in Arizona, if you couldn't tell). Our teacher appreciation week is next week and I need some good ideas quick!
@amien1 That's a great idea! I wonder if our teachers are tired of "red" yet or if they'd like the play on words.
Too bad I can't slip in what they probably really want - a bottle of wine!

Holy cow! It's hard enough for us to remember to bring a flower this week! There is just way too much going on with scouts, dance, my school, their school, & work! Have fun!

I haven't heard anything about the school doing something for Teacher Apprecation Week. Depending on who the current PTA president is, sometimes things happen and sometimes they don't.

My daughter's teacher is leaving at the end of the school year for a position at the middle school so we'll be getting her a nice gift in a few weeks.
