Do you have a tattoo/tattoos? What is it of? Why did you get it? If you don't have one would you get one? If so, what would it be of? I don't have one, but I have wanted to get one. I even have a pintrest board of some that I like. I would probably get something very minimalistic like a nose and whiskers which would work for a cat or a ferret. Maybe one day.
None. I wanted to get one in the 80s - when I was a cool rebel LOL - but it wasn't as common then as it is now. Then I met my husband, and learned that a tattoo is permanent, and if you regret it, it's hell to get removed. My husband was an even worse rebel than me in his teens, and had some terrible tattoos (both how they looked and what they represented), and he could never wear short sleeves, no matter how hot it was. About 10 years ago, he finally went to a proper tattoo parlour, and the artist helped him create new tattoos to cover the old ones, but he's still a bit hesitant to wear short sleeves. I was talking at work about his tattoos (we work at the same place) and out work mates didn't even know he has tattoos - and he has 4. I have a dream tattoo though, I want to have, in small print on my neck: "BEST BEFORE 1967-03-16" (when I was born). That's my kind of twisted sense of humor. LOL
I don't have any but I'm not opposed. I can imagine someday thinking of one I'd like to have and going for it. I often admire other people's tattoos.
I don't have any, but have considered getting one. My bestie has a couple of tattoos and has been begging me to go get one with her when I turn 50. My biggest problem is that I can't decide what I should get. I want something unique and meaningful, but also something that will still mean something to me is 20 years too. Then I get overwhelmed trying to come up with something and just give up.
@Karen We're of similar mindset on this. I also have not been able to think of something I'm sure I want to display on my skin for the rest of my life.
I have six, and I really wanna get more. they are small ones, some have meanings, like, in my right wrist I have a small tattoo with a pile of books and a cup of coffee on top...cause I'm a bookaholic and coffeeholic... there's a small star trail on my ankle(no meaning, just cute), a simbol of my city in my forearm, a red rose in my shoulder(it's the symbol of one catholic saint that I admire), one lotus on the other shoulder(the meaning of the lotus flower, I love it) and a small peacock feather on my hip, to cover a scar. This feather is ugly now, I should recover it, but really don't care. I wanna have a sunflower, it was my mom's face flower, I saw a cute one on instagram...maybe soon I'll get it done!!
@Karen & @michelepixels That's the thing. Even when you are a grown-up you can change your mind. I mean, if you make stupid tattoos when you're a teen, you probably will outgrow them eventually. But I had an idea that I wanted to write "redeemed" on my left arm, just where a t-shirt would let it show. And I was over 40. Now I'm a convinced atheist, and it would have been awkward if I've had that tattoo. LOL
I currently don't have any. I have 2 planned... it's getting the one drawn and choosing #2's location that I'm stuck on. I can't wait! They both have meaning to me, and I don't want them overly large. #1 on my wrist and will be drawn letters interlocking of my kids initials - S/C. I'm having trouble drawing what I want for #1. #2 is my star constellation, very light and dotted.
I don't mind tattoos on other people; many I like. However tattoos are not for me. If the military was not my career, I would be full of holes. Was always a fan of piercings. Now that I'm recently retired and a bit older, I won't get piercings. I still like them...but also find beauty in skin with no tattoos and no piercings. Not to mention, as I get older, I am certain I will have to go through MRIs etc.
Not a fan, although as an older teen I thought about getting a small flower tattooed on my ankle (it was a thing in the early 70s) but I didn't thank goodness. My xDH had my name tattooed on his arm before we were married (against my wishes), then added a devil above it, then "HOT STUFF" above that after we were married ... I was po'd. Then he got po'd when his army pals came on to me. Sheesh. He now has a HUGE eagle tattoo covering that mess up ... pretty sure his second wife didn't like my name on her hubby. ;p My granddaughter's boyfriend is an incredible tattoo artist. I admire his artistic talent, but am still not a fan.
I have a small butterfly on my back and an infinity sign with my kids names on my wrist. I would like another but I'm pretty indecisive about what it should be and I want to be sure.
My BF has 11 tattoos which are contained to his arms, chest, and back. His back is fairly covered (mostly with words) but his two more "controversial" tattoos are also on his back. These were all tattoos that he got way before he met me. I don't love every tattoo but they are, honestly, a scrapbook of his life that he wears. Each one tells a story about a certain time in his life even if that story is no longer the one being told. [I also think they make him look "cool" and hardcore which is a nice juxtaposition to the romantic secret nerd he actually is.] My family, especially my dad, is super-judgy about tattoos e.g. the only people who have them are criminals or otherwise bad people. I even prepped my dad before he met my BF about said tattoos because I knew how he felt about them. He has asked me no less than 3 separate times about them: how many, what do they all mean, etc. as if I haven't noticed them or would be surprised that he had noticed them. This super-judgment is part of the reason why I've put off getting my own tattoo. I've wanted a pilcrow (the new paragraph editing symbol) on my wrist for 5+ years. I've also toyed around with getting a butterfly which has come to symbolize my journey with and survival from pulmonary embolisms. My BF and I have discussed getting "always" tattooed in each others' handwriting as well. We'll see which I get! I'm worried about the pain but I also know I have a pretty high pain tolerance & tend to (over)worry about everything. My BF wants to get a sleeve of a spiral staircase-type bookshelf (remember that bit about being a secret nerd?!) with books that have special meaning for him, me, and the 4 kids. All of his tats so far have just been black but I can't imagine getting a giant bookshelf sleeve without some color in it so I'm very curious about what that design will look like if/when he gets to the point of getting it.
I'm a rebel - I have one and want at least one more. My family is big on tattoos. I'm falling way behind. I have Breathe on my right wrist and planned to get Create on my left wrist, but haven't done it yet.
My husband was the reason I waited so long to get mine! He HATES them! The night I came home with mine, he was so angry. I said, "well, you can either get over it or stay mad at me the rest of my life". He reluctantly got over it.
Nope, never been a fan. My brother-in-law had some horrible tattoos on his forearms that he got in the navy back in the late 1950s. They were enough to turn my kids off tattoos.
I have "Just Breathe" on my left wrist I have 6, but tattooed 7 times (one was an add-on to a previous). I have the Just Breathe one, a Yin-Yang on the back of my neck, a dream catcher on my shoulder blade, a tribal on my stomach, a big tribal across my lower back (hello 90's LOL), and a rose with a vine on my ankle down to my foot. I would love to have lots more but $$$$$$ The one I really want is a big shoulder piece with watercolor flowers, but I'm waiting until I commit to the gym and my arms look the way I want them to look first.
I had really wanted one years back but then life got crazy and I put that on the back burner. I never thought about it after that time passed. I might rethink it though. Not sure.
Don't have any. Don't want any. Have never wanted any. LOL. But I saw someone at the gym the other day with a tattoo like this and I kinda liked it. But I still have no desire to get one.
