she's sick.....doesn't look good. My nieces husband is going to look at it but my friend's husband is an IT guy and with what I described he told her he thinks it's dead 
I am ok with using my other one for a month or two, will just have to get a mouse as I hate the touch pad on this one. My DSLR won't be happening now but it is what it is. I am missing CC but grateful that I have my CS5 disc so can at least scrap and keep up.
