Just went to turn on my laptop and all I get is a black screen with the caps lock button blinking. Seriously having heart palpitations here. I grabbed my old laptop as a back up but it won't even let me open the Adobe CC application.

Now desperately searching for my CS5 disc....

Can you use your old laptop to search for troubleshooting for the newer one? Not sure what a blinking caps lock means!

did that Lorry and what I found isn't looking good :( going to leave it sit for the day and see if it works tonight.

No longer under warranty and am now looking for CS5. My nieces husband works for Best Buy so hoping he can take a look at it for me. I would buy a new one but just not in the budget at the moment.....maybe in a couple of months I can. Old laptop runs Vista so can use that in the meantime.

Don't have my last 5 MOC layouts backed up or my last 3 YIR 2014 and 1 PL 2015 backed up so not too bad if I have to redo. At least they are all posted :)

Installing CS5 now, hopefully will be back in business in a few :)

I'm glad you have most stuff backed up, but still sucks. Why can't we have computers that never fail?

I hear you! I had an EHD failure in the fall and lost a tonne of digi stuff and ALL my 2013 layouts, thankfully my pictures had already been transferred over to another EHD as backup to my backup.

Now getting re-familiarized with Vista, a 17" screen and the really sensitive touch pad, lol. Also downloading my fonts into my font viewer and putting my shadow styles back in CS5. . .I may be able to scrap at some point later this evening :dizzy

Good news is I am fortunate to have another laptop to use until the other one either sorts itself out or I can get it fixed.

That's terrible Jaye! I'm glad you at least have a laptop to work on in the meantime. I hope it is an easy fix for your computer.

Gosh, I agree, computers are not allowed to break down!!!
Surely hope you get to resolve your problem.

Thanks ladies, I had forgotten how stripped down this computer was. I had done a complete reset so nothing was on it, lol. Got my font viewer up and going, Dropbox d/l and my favourite shadows installed in CS5. Now to get down to business and try to scrap a page!

glad to hear you are able to carry on scrapping at least!!!

I back up online as I had one too many bad experiences in the past.....

Oh my - I can totally imagine how you feel!! I hope it can be fixed or at least all the stuff recovered! I had the same issue last November and thankfully it was right on Black Friday (there is a silver lining here!!) so my husband, my hero, went out real fast and got me a new computer! Couldn't do the same if that happened today either!

well I stumbled along and got today's MOC finished. Feels weird on a 17" screen though as used to the 15". Whole keyboard is different as well (number pad on the side) and a very touchy touch pad. But I always did like this computer and as I said earlier, very glad I had it.

What is it with laptops? I had to do the factory restore on my Lenovo 3 times and when it was only three years old, I had to have a second hard drive installed. When the second one died just one month later, I gave up and bought a new Toshiba. I'm just waiting for it to fail. Backblaze has been my friend. I hope your situation get straightened around.

Ugh. I sure hope that putting your laptop in time out helps! I'm so glad you had another one around so you can continue with your MOC pages though!

time out didn't work :( Maybe if I give her another day or two? (wishful thinking)

Oh bummer. Well, maybe after it's sits awhile, it'll get lonely and decide to behave. Either that or I hope that you can get it fixed fairly cheaply.
