It's Friday the 13th!

In October a spooky month anyway.

I'm going out with my friends for a Girls Night.

How are you celebrating it? Scary movies? Regular Friday? Soccer/Football/baseball/sports?

Ha ha Courtney @bestcee ... was just thinking oh I should start a thread when I realized it was Friday the 13th and here you are!! I remember growing up we would (a group of us friends) all go to the movies to watch a Friday the 13th movie Plus we even had a Friday the 13th party once, but alas those days are memories. Friday the 13th is Friday the 13th no difference in the 12th or the 14th! LOL I will be chatting on the phone later with my BFF as we do every Friday night.

Enjoy your night with the girls!!

took DD to a 'how to host a murder' style, masquerade party (all very mysterious with notes back and forth for the last few weeks and venue changes, ultimately held in a warehouse in town), i stayed for an hour and then went back 2 hrs later for pickup - that's been my Fri 13th nite (and saw some of Igor the animated movie in between with DS - thats scary enough for me)

How fun Justine! I bet your daughter enjoyed!!

Yep This is kind of embarrassing but, if you name it, I probably have some sort of superstition about it. No, I don’t walk under ladders, step on cracks, open umbrellas indoors, nor step in the path of a black cat. I do attempt to blow out all my birthday candles, look for four-leaf clovers, and I made sure I had something old, new, borrowed and blue on my wedding day. And of course, Friday the 13th is an unlucky day.

Here is a page I did on it for a MOC layout.

I'm not superstitious at all, in fact I used to purposefully do the "unlucky" things and I still open my umbrella in my office at work to dry it out whenever I have to use it to get in my building. Lol. I pretty much would make Carol go nuts I think. :giggle

I'm not doing anything special tonight... in fact, my not doing anything is my special. :) We don't have anything planned so I can actually sit down at my computer and get caught up on some tasks that I've needed to do since last weekend and then hopefully I will have some creative time to paint or scrap too!

We're a little superstitious here. My husband has a specific route he must walk to Wrigley Field, because it was the route he walked last year during the World Series. It wasn't "working" as well this year, so he walked my route on Monday and they won... so my route is his new route! lol! (And there's nothing really superstitious about my route... I just usually walk the way that requires me to cross the fewest streets)

No big plans tonight... my husband flies home this morning, my son works right after school and my daughter is performing at a benefit gala thing. Other than that... sleep as we were up way to late watching baseball last night!

step in the path of a black cat
I love your page! We used to have a black cat. That was adopted in Massachusetts, and my MIL's physic said was a familiar. Would you have visited me?

My mother was born on Friday the 13th, by a mother born on Halloween (Oct. 31). So, we've considered those things lucky in our family.

NOt superstitious at all. Kids are off school today (teacher learning day or something) so we were planning on going to the pumpkin patch- but it's pretty rainy today... maybe just the grocery store for pumpkins! ;) Otherwise a normal friday for me- house chores (but since kids are home they have to help! :giggle ) and then dinner with the in-laws.

Not superstitious, except for knowing that the Washington Nationals can't play themselves out of a post-season series to save their lives. (Sorry - had to get that in there!)

Just a normal Friday. Went to work, had lunch with a friend, now I'm getting ready to go back to work. fun.

I'm driving the teens ... does that count? They are going to a scary movie and then the home football game at the HS.

I love Friday the 13th. My divorce from my ex-husband was final on a Friday the 13th :giggle

I'm getting ready to put on some comfy pants and put on a scary movie! We're halfway through October and I haven't watched one yet *gasp*.

@IntenseMagic which one? I like spook scary, not gory scary. (Think what lies beneath vs. Saw). So, I love to hear what others watch.

The capitals usually have the same problem. Maybe it's a Washington thing?

It definitely is. There's some sort of post-season curse on our sports teams (but I could absolutely care less about the Redskins - they can loose all they want!).

I'm not a fan of gory either. I don't think that's scary, just gross, and I love What Lies Beneath! I'm watching a movie called Within on HBO. I'd never heard of it, but it's one of those people move in to a new house and creepy stuff happens kinds of movie.

OK...... I ll try explain, because I am somewhere in between.

First of all, in Argentina (where I lived for some years) is TUESDAY 13th, they even have funny rhyme that says on Tue 13th, don't get married or travel and something else :giggle

I'm not too superstitious the way Carol @Iowan is, I don;'t pay much attention to the ladder walking, or even black cats, though I have to admit, I heard some said if you do cross path with a black cat you needed to make yourself turn around your self -like a pirouette? not sure how to explain, something like this
:party3
to cut the bad luck, so sometimes I do it mentally :giggle

Now my kind of superstition comes from my Syrian mum, from very early age, she "educated" us in the power of the "evil eye" and gave us devices to protect us, like everything that has an eye, and in their community, is the color blue, light blue, also the number 5, all things against people's envy/jealousy.
I tried with all my strength not to go with it, but I have to admit she has had more influence in my sub-conscious mind than I ever thought...

My thing is more like this:

I know I have clothes that I consider to be lucky ones, and if I wore a perfume on a day when all was great, I will tend to wear it again and again.... and fear a bit if I don't or change it, something could go wrong.... things like that which my rational mind tells me is ridiculous...but keep doing it anyway
:imok
:rollin

couldn't agree more. I have never liked gory, but up until I had Sarita, I LOVED scary books and movies. The Shining was my fave for quiet a while (the book) and then the movie too.
These days I will once in a while watch something, but I don't much enjoy, makes me nervous.. I think it was 3 years ago we watched the Exorcism of Emily Rose and another one on that type with Antony Hopkins but watched it with Sarita and still, couldn't sleep at all that night LOL

didn't do anything yesterday but then again, I don't do anything much these days!!!!

Yep, I’ve done the lucky perfume thing too. :gigglep:gigglep:giggle:spin
