So, Disney announced yesterday that they will be creating a new streaming service (not until 2018 or 2019).
Hulu started for the same thing - NBC {edited to add Fox and Disney own Hulu too} decided they didn't want to share on Netflix.

You can also get HBO, among others, as a stand alone streaming service now.

I saw a comment online that soon streaming is going to cost more than cable did with all the different services.

So, that's my question. How many streaming services do you subscribe to? Which one is your favorite? Do you wish you had another one?

We have Amazon prime, and the streaming included with that. We also pay for Netflix. And Google music, which includes YouTube Red. We watch quite a bit of youtube content, so I'm including that too.

DH wishes we paid for HBO for Game of thrones! And we have a Hulu trial right now, but I don't think we'll keep it.

We share dd's Netflix subscription but thats the only one we use. We still have a satellite tv subscription though.

We have Amazon Prime. I want Netflix, but don't want the additional cost. And with everyone going their own route, I agree, it may head toward the expensive side to get all the services. I won't bother.

We do get free movie channels/On Demand at home because DH works for Verizon, so that is a perk. I like my TV/internet/land line to be on the low end, it's $108 after discounts. We don't even have/use theland line, but it's cheaper with it. I don't want another bill for TV. We pay an arm and a leg for cell phones at the moment, even with a discount!

That's actually a big reason why we've never canceled cable: for us, it'll soon be just as expensive (or more) to purchase individual streaming services at $10 to $15 per month. And I can't miss a Hulu show I've never seen, so we haven't even done the free trial.

But we do have Amazon prime so we have access to prime content. That's how we watched our movie last night. And we have Netflix discs and streaming. But that's it. I'll be sad when NBC and Disney stop using Netflix. But I also can't believe it took Disney this long to decide to make its own streaming channel. They have a channel you can subscribe to on cable. IDK what it's called but they put different movies on it each month.

Anyway, maybe soon TVs will be completely obsolete cuz we get everything via our phones or laptops. Or maybe TVs will be called "streamers" cuz traditional 1cable will be completely out of business and everything we watch will be via streaming apps on our "old" TVs.

We have Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Instant, and a digital antennae. It's been a year since we cancelled cable (our small cable only Comcast bill was rising exponentially and was $200+/mo when we left) and we haven't missed it for a second. It's easy enough to grab HBOGo or Showtime for a month, after a season ends, to catch up.

With all of the above we're still saving nearly $200/mo. I thought it would be harder without cable but it's been totally fine. We can watch local stuff with the antennae or hit Redbox for a movie if we can't find it on any of the above. Seriously, cancelling Comcast was one of the happiest days of my life. :)

We've been Netflix subscribers since at least 2005. I don't remember when we started, but I remember that was the year we canceled Cable TV and one of the reasons was that we figured Netflix was enough. And it has been, along with a little Google Play and a lot of YouTube. No one in my family is complaining -- and we do follow a couple t.v. shows and enjoy movies a few times a month -- so it's working for us.

Lol, I didn't even think about those who have cable still! We don't, so paying for Netflix and Amazon isn't bad.

We've actually used it to 'catch up' on the regular shows that we used to watch on TV. I've been binge watching top chef, and top chef masters on it. Lol.

I'll be sad when NBC and Disney stop using Netflix
NBC used to release shows quicker to Netflix, like at the end of the season, but now they keep the newer ones on Hulu.
I misspoke earlier, NBC and Fox own Hulu (and Disney). So, there's a lot of current Fox and nbc shows on Hulu.

I'm in the Netherlands.

Only Netflix for me.
I tried Amazon Prime for free for a month but it was a complete joke then in my country.
HBO I am not crazy about. Everyone who I talk to, said they joined mainly for GOT. I don't like GOT, so my logic is that I don't need HBO.
Then there is this thing called Videoland in my country. I believe it has a lot of Dutch shows and movies. And I am not really into that. (I know..)

So that's it. Netflix it is.
(and an occasional international show via a streaming website, such as The Block AU)

We have Amazon Prime with a subscription to HBO and Netflix. We had Hulu for a little while but no one ever watched it. We cut our cable about 2 years ago when the bill went over $200 a month with internet. Now we pay for just the internet. I don't really watch much tv at all, DH likes the HBO, and DS likes Netflix.

We have just Netflix and Amazon Prime (but only because we buy lots of stuff and want the free shipping). Netflix gets watched a lot here. I didn't think Disney leaving Netflix would be an issue, but I heard the 20yr old complaining to the 15yr old about it. No other TV and no landline for us.

I am thinking about Google Fiber when it gets here. It is about 25 miles from here with plans to come this way. AT&T fiber is already here, but their rate is higher than Google after the introductory first year.

We have the trio thing with our cable company : its a package deal to have internet, home/land line (which barely gets used) and the basic cable. There are still a few channels on basic cable that the kids like - so we hold out on that for now. I imagine when the kids move out - that will all go ... and we'll have to research what the best deal is for internet service alone in our area.
We mostly watch our streaming stuff though : Netflix, Hulu and we do have Amazon Prime. We sub to HBO Now only when there is something we want to see and then we let it go again. (I started on GOT season1 -with the free 7 day trial - so I think I'll be subbing to that too this month!)

Right now, I pay for Netflix and my daughter pays for Hulu and we share the passwords with each other. I'm a new Amazon Prime person now and she gave me a Roku for my birthday, but it's not hooked up yet. We pay enough for cable, so I'm not sure I want to anymore each month.

We have Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu and during The Walking Dead and football season, we purchase Sling. We watch a lot of YouTube as well.

We have Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime...and I don't doubt for a second people will soon be paying the same if not more for streaming services and then add additional charges from the internet companies, b/c they're going to start putting data caps on and charging additional fees if you go over. Cox is doing that already; they cap at 1 terabite I think and after that it's $10.00 per something, not sure b/c I don't have them.

And to be quite honest; I'm not super thrilled with any of the 3 that we have, so if they start raising the rates I'll drop them, get rid of the TV, keep the internet and call it good.

We still have cable since we can't stream on our internet. I live in a rural area and my internet is lucky if we get 2-3 gb of download and I was told to stream you should be at 5gb.

We also can't get cell phone service without wifi so it has definitely been a struggle to reduce our bills but still have options for tv shows.

@AllisonPennington $200 per month just for cable?! Yowsers! No wonder you canceled. There's no way I'd pay that much, either.

We'd canceled internet and switched to Century Link a couple months before that and within no time our bill was back up to where it was when we had both. I've never in my life received a Comcast bill that reflected our actual contract. LOL

ETA - Brett just informed me that I have it backwards. We canceled cable first. And then our internet only bill was back up well past $200/mo so we canceled that, too. (and that was pre-data cap)... I need a nap

FYI - we stream 24/7 and Century Link is awesome!

$200 just for internet isn't better lol. ;) We pay $150 for our bundle (cable, internet, home phone). It could be less but I like fast internet speeds cuz I'm impatient. (DH is watching me type and he said "cuz you're crazy" bwahaha!) Plus I had to have DIY and BBCAmerica (and I think Cartoon Network, which the kids insist on having for Teen Titans Go), and those are on a higher tier. Oh well.

I saw a comment online that soon streaming is going to cost more than cable did with all the different services.

That was the discussion we were having in the car yesterday after our kids told us about Disney. It annoys me actually. I loved Netflix in the beginning because there was so much variety... but as everyone begins to have their own streaming service, they all become so specialized (or all original content). Clara is sad about Disney leaving Netflix because she likes to go back and watch old Disney shows (the teen/tween ones) just for fun. But she doesn't like to do that enough to warrant paying for another subscription. Our theory is that as there are more and more streaming services, people will get more and more selective about what they subscribe to. And with that, providers won't have the reach they once had or think that they're going to. Meaning, that we occasionally watched Disney content on Netflix, but will not watch any once they move to their own service. There are other groups (for lack of a better term) of shows that we would no longer watch if they moved to their own service.

We have Netflix, Amazon Prime (rarely, if ever watch it) and still have cable. I'm going to have a hard time giving up cable... maybe it's a generational thing though (??). I love to flip through and find something on to watch. I also like to put on the tv as background while I do other things (like scrap)... I can't do that with Netflix shows, because for some reason, I tend to only put on Netflix when I actually plan on paying attention. My kids and I like to find something on to watch together while we eat (when my husband is traveling)... it's usually something on Game Show Network so we can play along and yell at the tv :-)

I'm apparently rambling without much of a point... but I'll end with... everyone having their own streaming services, I don't like it. LOL!
