It's been Spring Break here for my kids and sadly, DH and I both had to work. It happens to also be Easter week which is one of our busiest (DH is a pastor). So, I've been trying to figure out ways to entertain the kids.

We (well, me and kids and friends of kids, LOL) did make it to Zoo Atlanta on Monday which was super fun!

But here's the thing. It's been GORGEOUS here the last few weeks. Warm and sunny. And in true Spring Break fashion, this week turned cold and rainy :giggle

Why does that always happen?

Anyway, anyone else on Spring Break? Doing anything fun?

We won't be going anywhere far for spring break - DH & I both have to work, too (ours is week after next) - we are on the interstate that leads to MOST of the beaches and Disney (we are about an hour north of Florida), so I try to avoid that like the plague! We will probably head off somewhere on a mini-adventure on my day off (Friday), and DH will take them fishing on his day off (Monday), and they will be completely spoiled rotten by grandparents on the days we are working!

We're both retired so every day is kind of a break day! hehehe However, my son and family are coming over on Saturday to let my granddaughter tell us about her trip to London and Paris. It was a school trip, she's 16 and Nannie (me) paid for the trip. She is the adventurous soul and I suspect will end up being a world traveler. This has also sparked 14 y o younger sister to decide that she wants to be an exchange student in high school.

My spring break from college was this week. The kids' spring break is next week. It doesn't matter that much though. If I'm not at school, I have to be at work since they only let me off work to be in class. Whatever. I have been able to pick the little guy up from school, so he doesn't have to go to daycare afterwards. Between hubby & I, the kids will only go to daycare 2 days next week. I have to take them to school with me on Wednesday, that should be interesting. I'm bribing them with the pizza place we have on campus & my teachers love the idea of having the kids in class. Wish me luck.

My husband got three whole days for Spring Break...at the beginning of FEBRUARY!! Seriously, it was the coldest part of the year. His school is in Mobile, AL, where Mardi Gras was born, so they get Mardi Gras as a holiday. They decided to ever-so-generously also give them the Monday before and the Wednesday after Mardi Gras off and call it Spring Break. Thanks, med school!

On the plus side, it's spring break for the city/county schools here in Huntsville which means the office is empty, plus with it being Easter week and Good Friday today, even more people are out. So I'm going to work at home in my PJs today, because nobody will care...or know. :giggle

It's just DD and me for break this year. DH has to work and DS went to Florida with our church youth group (I'm hoping he comes back with his phone, wallet and without a severe sunburn!). While we've spent most of the break at the rink so she can practice her programs for the upcoming season, we have done some fun things. On Tuesday we hiked at Shenandoah National Park and yesterday we went to the Tidal Basin in DC to see the cherry blossoms (they were at about 1/2 peak, but they were still beautiful!). But we're back to the rink today, and DS comes back at about midnight tonight. That's about it for us.

We start Spring Break... today. The boys headed to Florida, and I have a quiet house. Yes, it's nice, but knowing they are already on their way, makes me a bit sad. They will go to the pool, beach, a water park, a go kart place, maybe an aquarium, and some more fun stuff. I told them to bring the sun and warmth back with them!

We will face-time, so I'm looking forward to that. I am looking forward to scrapping tonight! :giggle

we have Spring Break the first week of April, but today is off for our snow day we didn't use! woot! My girls are working, my oldest hired my 2nd son to work for him and my hubby took the day off!
We are going to spoil the Littles today! I am just buzzed! It is the first time it has just been the 5 of us hanging out for the day!
New clothes, socks, and shoes..and they don't know is we are also getting bikes at the end of the shopping adventure!!!
I am so jazzed!
Spring break we will be riding out bikes EVERYwhere!! This is the joy of SPring and summer to me...to ride!

Oh, they are going to be so, so excited!!! What a happy day for you all!

My husband started Spring Break today and he is so ready for the break. He is going to play golf this afternoon.

We are not going anywhere, just going to work on some projects around the house and visit his mother.

I'm stunned to actually have spring break plans. There was only one time that I was able to take my daughter anywhere for spring break. Fifteen years ago, I left one job and had a break before starting another, so we went to Disneyland.

But now she is taking me... to PARIS!!!!! I'm beyond excited. Although a wee bit nervous as well. :/

I'm lucky in that she can't handle Kennedy all on her own, so I get to go along to help contain him (and calm her down). The plane ride is going to be a rough one for a high-activity ADHD kid. The funny thing is that on the way over, we couldn't get seats together so they are together but I'm by myself. I told her that if she brings it up at the counter, they might be able to ask if someone would move so we could be together. She was asking why someone would give up their seat... and I pointed out that a solo person might not *want* to sit next to a hyper 6-year old for ten hours. LOL. Who knows. It will be a wild adventure for sure. With the length of the travel, we're really only going to have about 3 days (pieced together) for seeing the sights, but it is still exciting.

My spring break, if you can call it that, is no school today or Monday. I am so envious of those who get a full week. We never have :( I have been painting my bedroom since 6:30 this morning and I am whooped. But I wanted to get it done so that maybe I could enjoy a couple of the days. The kids will all be here tomorrow for Easter dinner and then hopefully I will get some "break" time on Sunday and Monday.

How exciting!!! And we will be able to live through you when we see your beautiful scrapbook pages!

Our Spring break started, but no special plans for us.

I made the communion bread for this weekend. 8 loafs! We will be going to the early service on Sunday and then come home and we are doing a brunch here with all our children.

It is Anne! We get together once a year and put together all the flour and dry milk put them in ziplock baggies so when it is your turn during the year all you do is dump the bag and add the remaining ingredients into your bread machine. We all have bread machines we do the dough in then bake them in the oven. Even have a cute cross cookie cutter to press into the dough. :)

4 c. flour
6T. rye flour
6T. wheat flour
6T. dry milk
1 1/2 t. salt
1/2 c. sour cream
1 1/3c. warm water
3 t. yeast

once the dough is done mixing and rising in the bread machine we cut into four sections form into balls and then flatten with your hands or rolling pin. press the cookie cutter about 1/2 way through and let rise again for 15+ minutes Bake at 350 for 24 minutes

Each recipe makes 4 round loafs.

To me the only negative to the fresh bread is the clean up. LOL we need to vacuum up all the bread crumbs. LOL

Oh! BUT I have done it with out the bread machine if you don't have one.

Clara's first day off was Thursday (the day it decided to sleet and snow) and she's off all next week. Alex had Friday off due to a teacher furlough day and will have next Friday off due to a teacher walk-out (day of action), but his official spring break isn't for another three weeks or so.

So, since it's just me and the girl, we're going to Disneyland! We leave tomorrow after sunrise service on the beach here in Chicago! Can't wait!! As for Alex's spring break, he doesn't want to go anywhere. He wants to just hang out here and work. Not very exciting but how can you complain about a kid who would rather make money than spend it?
