I'm getting an error message when I try to upload a layout. It meets the less than 1MB and 800 pixel requirements. But it says I have a 50mb limit and my current total is 49.6 so I can't upload... Is this true? Should i go delete old layouts?
Don't delete. Let Laura take a look at it. We've all (well a lot of us) have more than that uploaded. @lmccandless
Oh I thought the file size limit for the gallery was 250k? And enquiring minds want to know, how do you find out what storage you've used already?
Yeah, that's really weird. I know I have more that 50 MB in my gallery... I tried to look and see if I could find a total in my gallery, but I didn't find it. I'm interested to see what's going on, but I'm sure Laura will get you sorted soon.
This is the error I'm getting, i just tried again in case it was a temporary glitch or something...but I got the same error. A link to the screenshot... https://www.dropbox.com/s/rhps3glogieadrz/Screenshot 2016-02-10 08.48.35.png?dl=0
dont know if it matters but your layouts are big if you look at info on your second to last is 1600x800 before upgrade 600x600 was largest, don't think it went that far ahead but i might be wrong
Hmmm... maybe it's a combination of things. Your gallery limit might be low (not sure of settings Laura has for everyone, or limits) and your layouts are on the larger size. With the image you posted, It appears that your layout is 597KB. When I upload, mine are usually less than 250KB. So maybe the gallery size limit needs to be raised, and your layouts need to be saved a bit smaller? What about if you sized your layouts to 600 x 600 versus the 800 x 800 that you have been doing? Some of the layouts are nearing 1MB for one 12 x 12 page and that takes up a lot of space, so maybe that might be causing an issue too!? (I'm looking at the layout sizes under the information tab near the bottom. Hoping it all works out!
@zenjen - I've adjusted your permissions and increased your upload limit. However, Jenn is correct...many of your layouts are double or triple the suggested limit of 250k. So, you will probably want to compress more before you upload to avoid this problem in the future.
Thanks everyone, I am so sorry about the size. I think it said somewhere as I was uploading that the size limit is 800x800. I will definitely adjust in the future and watch the file size too. Is it ok on double size layouts to make it 1200x600? Again so sorry and thank you
I think many people do 300x600 for double page spreads. I don't choose to load mine that way, preferring two single uploads instead. But that's just me.
I prefer two single uploads and then in the credits, I include an image linked to my Smugmug so that you can see the double together. Sorta like this one... https://the-lilypad.com/forum/galleries/aground-l.239588/
I have uploaded two singles and put the thumbs next to each other in the description (see: https://the-lilypad.com/forum/galleries/first-day-of-ballet.242252/ ) and I have done 800x400 (see: https://the-lilypad.com/forum/galleries/big-shopping.238781/ ) depending on the page.
For doubles I do the single pages at 600x600 (less than 250kb) and the double at 600x300 (also less than 250kb). I use a save for web action for singles. I know Cheryl/Fiddle Dee Dee has one free in store now too. That is a quick way to get a reduced file size and a slightly sharpened page that looks good on the web.
I save mine as 800 px wide. Even double pagers or hybrids. That way they fit the limits and are large enough to see. Also, in the new gallery you can click the photo and it brings up a larger size view.
