So the answer is in...

@cookingmylife That's "The Message" version. I like to use it in conjunction with the New American Standard Bible. We use the NASB at my church, but sometimes I like a more readable version. Between the two versions, as well as some other versions, I'll usually get a better understanding of context, etc.

I use the YouVersion app ~ available on a variety of devices. I use it on my phone, my Kindle and my PC. You can choose the version that you want to use. It includes The Message. They also have audio so you can have it read to you as well. There are reading plans, devotionals, and tons of other resources.

I also use Bible Gateway if I'm on my computer and need to do a quick scripture search. It also includes The Message version.

Hope that helps!

Thank you all. I can't believe how well I'm handling this -- thanks to lots of counseling. And a lot of learning this year.

Dad's diagnosis is a hard one is likely a little advanced, but after a year of him just not being himself and little hints we noticed a little but didn't seem like anything It's nice to know what's happening.

I was going to suggest The Message. It makes the Bible jump out at you because it's our language and it's relevant to today. Not that the Bible isn't. The man who translate it stayed as close to the real meaning as he could but put it in terms and experiences we would recognize. I love it.

I'm really not a heathen but being raised Catholic we never read the bible in school - grade, hs or college!
So yes, this translation really jumps out as you say Carilyne! Thanks ladies.
