WHERE I LIVE

Last year, we focused on techniques to add interest to our layouts. This year, I am starting a new series. I would like to take this year to dive deep into telling meaningful stories and writing out some of those memories that I've been putting off creating layouts for.

Each month, please join me for an *extra* slow scrap. I will host a chat with a prompt and ideas for multiple ways to document stories within the prompts. Then, you will have 48 hours to create your layout...yep...extra time, in case you need to find a photo or rustle up a memory.

March 22 | Where I Live

You may interpret the prompt in any way that is meaningful to you. Here are a few ideas to get your mind thinking deeper.

1. Where I live as a HOME
Tell the story of your actual home or homes that you have lived in. Maybe you have one favorite spot in your home that you like to relax in or the kitchen where everyone gathers.

2. Where I live as a PLACE
Tell a story of the country you live in..or the city. What is the weather like? What sort of seasons do you get? Where do you spend time outside of your actual home?

3. Where I live as a PERSON
As they say, "home is where the heart is" but maybe your heart is overseas or maybe you are living far from family. Who is your home and what makes them special?

Instructions
1. Use the prompt "Where I Live" - and put that somewhere on the page, so we know it's for the scrap...a title or an element
2. Add a meaningful story - yes...journal! but there isn't a limit or certain amount....it's all you
3. Photos optional
4. make a page you LOVE.

Please post your completed layout in The Lilypad gallery. GALLERY RULES: Layouts must contain at least 50% TLP products. (Templates count as 15%.) Uploads must be less than 250k. List all credits; no off-site linking allowed.

So sorry I missed the chat but got busy this morning and totally forgot it. I did make a page and chose to picture and talk about the house we live in now, why we chose it and how we feel about it.

My story doesn't have a plot, but it does have several memories, and I enjoyed the research and planning of the page, comparing my home of childhood and young adulthood to my current home.

Thanks for the lovely series, Farrah. I am sorry I missed the chat-grandson's hockey playoff game. :byay:byay:byay

Here is my journaling:
I have spent a lot of time in dank, dark basement suites in my lifetime.
When my husband and I bought a house,
I finally felt like an adult. That marriage
ended, but the house allowed me to support my
daughter and me until we decided to buy a condo.
We built that condo and lived there for some
time, but eventually, I could no longer handle
the stairs with my scoliosis . So we looked for a
place for m e. Kaitlin had moved away to raise a
family of her own. I moved into what was to be
my forever home in a small town-it was full of
sunshine and all on one floor. I loved it. I was
part of a new comunity in the building. Long story
short, Kaitlin’s marriage ended and she asked if she
and the kids could come home and live with me for a
short time. Of course they could. But we needed more
space. We looked at houses-we would have money from
the sale of both houses - but then Kaitlin’s grandpa
passed away and left her a lot of money.
We were surprised to learn we could afford to build the house of our
dreams! And that is what we did.
We built a gorgeous home with a beautiful studio for me and all the space two littles
could ever hope for. I am amazed by how perfect our new home is.
The home where I live is my Sanctuary. Grandpa would be pleased. He loved
us both and wanted Kaitlin’s life to be better. I am the Gammie, my daughter is
the mommy and I am so blessed to be living with my grandchildren, to be able
to watch them grow up The home where I live is a home I never imagined I would have.
