Hello and thank you for coming to chat with us!!!! I'll be finalizing this as we go, if you aren't in the chat room with us now, you have until tomorrow to finish your page, and there is a lil present for you if you come to the chat!!!
First of all here you have some tutorials to help you out in case you would like to have a look:

and a tutorial (though a bit old) from our very own amazing @jk703
http://thetypativescrapper.blogspot.co.uk/2011/06/extractions-sweet-and-simple-basics.html

http://www.digitalscrapbookinghq.com/use-masks-photoshop-elements/

Here is a video for Craft Artist Professional, which I actually have learned a trick or two and have not even finished watching... I ll come back with more tips when I have time to finish watching!!!!

1. choose a photo that will be easier to extract. You can choose full body, half or just a head, think about the difficulties on extracting lots of hair though. Your extraction does NOT need to be human. It can be a pet or a thing, just try not doing it toooo easy as we miss the point of learning together!!!!

2. ok, so first choose your photo- extract- then look for at least 5 elements...can be the same, if you like blank space or minimalist, you can choose 5 or more stars, or it could be 5 different elements, they do NOT need to be together in the page, just your page needs top have at least 5 elements

3. For the background, I would like you to choose something that will make your extraction stand out…be that a patterned paper off your photo does not have too many colors, or something plain to show it, but it HAS to show your extraction.

4.Your extraction has to have a shadows. You can also add a line around it like making it into a sticker this is optional. :)

5. Give your page a title, make it so it is done with an alpha and a font. it can be small or big, but in my humble opinion, big tittles with extractions rock!!!

6. You can add more papers, more elements, whatever you prefer, or leave it as it is at this point, just do the finishing touches and you are done!!

Thank you so much all for attending the chat!!!!
It was so wonderful to get together again and have a laugh apart from learning a bit more!!!!!

If you didn't attend the chat but want to make a page, you can do so until tomorrow, same time the chat started, to post it in the gallery, make sure you post a link to your page here too so I can leave you some love!!!!!!

As usual, The Lilypad rules apply here for your LO:
Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product.

Thanks once again!!!!!

I am so sad I missed a chat with you Cynthia. Extractions are something I still work on - like you said - it definitely helps when you have a nice clean picture so you can easily pull your extraction. The first one is one I did last week that is probably my best one because it was a nice crisp photo - so it is to date my favorite extraction. But the second one is one I did today on a kind of blurry photo so it is not as crisp and clean - but I extracted 2 people instead of just one because I did not want all the background in this layout.

I love these technique chats - so I redid the extraction on this layout just now after watching the instructional videos and I am so glad I did - what a difference!! Thanks Cynthia!!! @MrsPeel
Before on left after with refine tool on Right:

Okay @MrsPeel you sucked me in:) Here is a layout just for you!

Ok. Extractions are not anywhere as tedious as I thought. My last time was using the magnetic lasso which I have never mastered. These two tutorials were so so much better even though Scott Kelby seemed just a bit too enthused.

Just to show you I did get the hair strands with light coming straight down in my one bathroom. Instead of a dark shadow I used a glow. You get the point. The transfer behind me makes me glow even more! LOL

So sorry I missed the chat! Love all the pages! I may still try to squeeze one in :)

Tried 4 extractions and was only somewhat successful using the polygonal tool. Didn't do too well on the tail so so it went off the edge of the layout. Problem solved! Thanks for the technique SS. Here's mine:

wow LOVE the pages and amazing, super amazing extractions!!!!!!!!!!! I will come by your galleries to leave you some love in a bit,
Thanks for the chat last night to those of you who were there, I love chatting and I had such a great laugh and I am pleased we have learned a bit more all together!!!!!

Now I have to look for a photo with an extended arm or leg or a strong outline to keep playing with this. Otherwise ...poof, I forget!
