Monday, Monday, Monday! I'm not ready for Monday. We were on spring break last week and now it's time to pay the piper. As much as I love to be on vacation, I hate it too. Getting back to the grind is hard. Laundry to do, house to clean... No more sleeping in or eating out and back to having to be the adult. I feel like I need a vacation from my vacation.

Thankfully the kids are back in school and hubbys on a business trip, so I'll take things slow today. Even better, I'll spread things out over a few days. Who says it all has to be done today. Sometimes a girl needs to give herself some slack and not be so hard on herself. Yep, I think some slack is what's in order.

How about you? Do you give yourself some slack every now and then, or do you drive yourself to the breaking point? I'm usually a slave driver to the point of breaking, but today I'm taking a pass. I'm gonna spread it out and not make myself sick.

It all depends on what is going on. I take my time keeping my house ship shape BUT if there is company/party being held I can be a little 'crazy' and 'demanding' to my children on needing the house to look perfect. I know I drive them nuts!!

I'm the only one messing my house up and I'm the only one to clean it. My work is demanding so I definitely do not care too much about having my home in perfect order. It's usually clean and not too cluttered. But it could be better. If you know what I mean. I also like doing laundry. So that's fine. But I am not cleaning every day. Good is good enough.
I never understand how and why people spend so much time on household chores. I rather spend my time doing things I enjoy then spending it on cleaning...

I am more of a slacker, having a lady around twice a week to clean means that if I keep everything tidy it looks great. It was raining today so the washing got a pass. Supper is made and the everything is quiet and peaceful.

When you are a SAHM with a 3yo it seems like every day is 3000 hours long and every night is 3 minutes long.

I worked on some chores this weekend (bathroom & laundry) and ran errands this morning so we're chillin' at the moment before we have lunch.

Oh yes, if company is coming. I'm barking orders to the kids and hubby to help me get everything in order. I drive them nuts, but they still love me... hehe

I used to clean everyday, but not anymore. Mondays are usually my dig out from the weekends and Saturday is laundry and get the kids to clean their rooms day, but today I'm only doing the bare minimum general pickup. I started the dishwasher last night, so I'll put away the dishes and pick up the kitchen. I might do a load of laundry this afternoon, but probably not. Hubby did most of it on Saturday after we got home from spring break, since he needed to pack for his business trip. I'll leave the deep bathroom cleaning for tomorrow and the dusting for Wednesday. I agree I'd rather spend my time on things I enjoy.

I wish I had a cleaning lady and a personal chef too for that matter. Then, I could just scrap and relax guilt-free... hehe

Oh yes the days are long and the nights are short with littles around. Get used to the nights being short, because when they get older they stay out late so you can't sleep because you're worrying about them. Or they come in and wake you up to tell you they're home and you can't get back to sleep.... hehe

I only get crazy about cleaning when we have guests coming. Otherwise, I'm pretty laid back about it. I like the house mostly tidy but I'm not scrubbing the toilets everyday or ordering everyone to immediately unpack when we get home from vacation.

^^ same :-)

I clean on the weekend and pick up around the house a bit every day, but I don't have much down time. I leave the house at 7am, get home around 4:30, and we're either cramming down soup and sandwiches or something before going back out, or I'm cooking and getting a load of laundry in. Sundays are usually the day that can actually be a slacker.

I admit, I did make everyone unpack and put stuff away as soon as we got home. If I wouldn't have, then hubby and I would have ended up doing it alone.

I treated myself well today. I will have to make up tomorrow. I usually do laundry on Monday in and around the usual running here and there, but today it was straight run from one thing to the next. So laundry is waiting until tomorrow.

After returning from a trip, bags are unpacked immediately and laundry is started, at least one load. I went back and forth between my mom and dad when I was a child, and I hate, hate, hated living out a of suitcase. I certainly don't want to see the luggage now when I return home, you know? And on a trip, if it's more than 3 days, I'll unpack the suitcases into storage - closets and dressers - if it's available.

I tend to push myself, even when I'm not feeling the greatest. Mostly that's because I'm never feeling the greatest, and things just have to be done. I give myself more of a pass lately than I ever have, though! I'm never current on dusting, so that means that depending on the room you're in, you could leave messages in the dust. I used to have everything dusted at one time, but I have to take that bit by bit.

I do like doing a little bit each day to avoid a huge cleaning day. Wiping up for a few minutes in the bathrooms each day keeps the "deep clean" to a minimum . . . again, I used to love having everything done at one time, a fresh clean home . . . but that doesn't happen anymore. The toilets get cleaned one day, then the counters, then the tubs, then the floors. By the time the floors are done, it's time to start over! LOL

I definitely think it's good to go easy on ourselves. We are so harsh on ourselves based on what we think others will think of us. Maybe I'm starting to get to that old lady age where I don't care as much about that anymore. I mean, who cares if my house is perfect or not?

This... I do make everyone be neat and tidy... but not totally clean, lol!

Oh, I unpack immediately... then relax! And... i clean before a trip so that I can come home to a clean house!

I also like to clean the house before we leave, but it always seems to get messed up some when everyone is packing and rushing out the door. It does help though to not have a total mess when you get home. I always make sure all the trash is taken out and run the garbage disposal for good measure or else the house will be stinky when we get back. We forgot the trash once and boy was that unpleasant to come home too.... yuck!

I'm a go-getter & usually have a long to do list every day! I work part time so on my days off- especially when kids are at school- those are my cleaning & errands days. I try to not have a bunch of housework to do when we are all off work/school so we can do fun things together as a family. In general- I do laundry & dust M/Th, Bathrooms on Mondays, vacuum on Thursdays (my LEAST favorite chore!) and sweep/run the roomba for the hardwoods daily. Usually monthly I'll do the deeper cleaning- mopping (ugh...), windows, baseboards, walls etc. We keep a pretty tidy, everything has a place house so while it sounds like I'm a clean freak- (duh- dental hygienist here! ;) ) it's really not as much work as it sounds typing it all out here!

Now for vacations- I hate the 'catch-up' from missing my normal routine! I still only do laundry those 2 days, but sometimes hubby with throw a load in after we've been out of town or something. We like to unpack completely & definitely live by the clean house before you leave rule!

~side note & fair warning that it's GROSS!!~
Once when hubby & I were still dating & we went on vacation with his parents- before we left his parent's house for the airport- he went #2 & forgot to flush the toilet. When we got back SEVEN days later- it smelled like something had died in their house. Whoopsie! :backing

I'm definitely more of a slacker. I was just telling my sister about this last weekend... I get frustrated because when I clean, I want things to STAY clean. But they never do, so a lot of times I just don't bother as often. The plus side is that when I do clean, you really can tell the difference. Lol!

I do like my kitchen clean, so I make the effort there and my hubby likes the family room clean, so he keeps that room neat. The back side of the house is a little less "polished" Lol.

I do unpack as soon as I get home. Nobody else does in our house until I force them to.

I'm a bit of a mish-mash....slacker, procrastinator, over-achiever....it just depends on the day, time and situation LOL. I'm a terrible procrastinator and let things slide, being very good at turning a blind eye to what needs to be done (cough...cough....taxes...cough). I tend to take on too much, have a hard time saying no but am getting better and then have to buckle down and really push myself to meet deadlines, which I always meet b/c luckily when I do apply myself, I can focus, work like crazy and get stuff done....but it's the procrastinating that drives me crazy. I am really trying to tackle things as needed, not push them aside til it reaches the crazy time of rushing to get things done. I don't really push my hubs to do anything. I let him do what he wants, when he wants to do it. I'll suggest things but don't freak out if he doesn't do them when I suggest i.e. Sat morning vacuuming, if he decides not to, I really don't care, I know he'll do it the next day, whatever. I'm much more laid back about chores, responsibilities, etc than I was when younger. But I think I went from overly organized to hardly organized at all. I need to be somewhere in the middle.
