Tonight, my husband was telling me about Harry Potter houses, and that you can be sorted. It started from a discussion with a doctor at work who was a Ravenclaw until she went to medical school. And now she's a Slytherin. To which he responded: I can see how medical school would make you evil. :giggle

So, my Silly Little Question: Have you been sorted? What are you? Does it feel right?

I shall take the test later today.....when I figure out where you do that.....:backing

No I haven't (haven't read the books or stayed awake to see the end of any of the movies :hide) but we were at the shops before DD's birthday & clothes shopping is painful but we did come home with a Huffle puff shirt (she was adamant that although she is playing quidditch for sport at school this term (?! I know, right!) she was not letting me buy here a gryffyndor shirt as she has taken the test & got hufflepuff multiple times (and apologies for spelling etc).
On the other hand, DS sits at the gryffyndor table at school; his whole class was sorted at the start of the year & the room has painted canvas curtains hanging on all the walls to make it look like a castle (or Hogwarts to those that might recognise it apparently - he has a very fun & dedicated teacher this year)

I think I did this once a while back, but I don't remember where I was sorted. I'm not so much a Harry Potter fan...haven't read the books and only watched one movie because DS asked me to watch with him. I'll take it again later today and see what it comes up with :)

My daughter is completely in love with Harry Potter and has been for a while. We took the quiz a while back.

She is a Hufflepuff. While I thought she would be a Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff truly fits her and she loves being a Hufflepuff. My husband is a Ravenclaw and it does suit him well. I am a Gryffindor, which I am not sure about. But I actually used two email addresses and took the quiz twice... and got Gryffindor again. So I am trying to own it. I just don’t feel like an overly brave person and Gryffindor is known for that.

How interesting. I never took the time to be sorted, but I will do that later today. I never wanted to read these books because I didn't' think it would be my thing with the wizards and everything, but a 7th grade girl that I used to take home after school read a ton of books so we'd talk reading on the way home often and she basically "bullied" me into reading Harry Potter. :giggle She kept saying, I can't believe with as much as you read that you haven't read those books yet, you HAVE to. I did read them all and I'm glad that I did because now I understand references to them that I hear and see all the time, but in all honesty, I like the movies better than the books. {ducks} Usually when I say that around die hard Harry Potter fans, they give me the worst glares. Lol!

In 2011 I joined Pottermore and got sorted into Hufflepuff. Later I came across another sorting quiz and also got sorted in Hufflepuff. But the thing that confirms it most strongly is that Hufflepuff is the one I would have chosen for myself. My daughter Caroline also identifies as a Hufflepuff and has collected several items to wear to show that off. I think my daughter Rhiannon identifies as Slytherin, but I'm not sure; that might have changed. My husband is the only one of our family to not be very interested in Harry Potter beyond just reading the books once, so I can't remember if he ever took a quiz. My son was interested, but was still a preschooler at the height of our involvement in the Harry Potter world so he never got as obsessed with it as his older sisters.

I think it's neat how Rhiannon has called Harry Potter a classic. She doesn't consider herself to be in the fandom anymore, but she still highly respects all that is HP and thinks of the series as a model to her for all other literature she reads or stories she watches ever since. :) She was nearly 6 when she asked us to read the first book to her. That was so convenient because that was in 2007, when the last book, Deathly Hallows, came out. So we were able to read the whole series in less than a year! Only she kind of lost interest in the middle of Deathly Hallows. But we re-read the whole series multiple times over the next several years and did lots of HP related stuff. For example, my girls learned to sing Harry Potter in 99 Seconds and performed it for a couple of shows in our homeschool community.

@Karen I wouldn't glare at you for not reading the books, but I would want to make sure you understand how much you're missing. The movies are good in their own right but they leave out so much awesomeness from the books. Like Peeves the poltergeist. He's one of the best characters in the series!

Oh I read them all! I have a strict rule that I HAVE to read the books before I watch movies based on books. Maybe I wouldn't have liked the movies as much if I hadn't already read the books because I did know all the backstory and all the details they left out.

Oops, I read your post too fast! Now I am glaring a little. No, just kidding. :giggle

Before I went to London with my daughter and her students 2 years, she made the whole group of us take the test. Then she bought us t-shirts to wear when we toured the Warner Brothers Studios where all the movies were filmed.
I'm a Hufflepuff.

We've never been sorted but we all say we're Gryffindor. We have to be with 3 of us having red hair! The Weasley's are Gryffindor and everyone says, "Hey, look it's the Weasley's!" when we visit Harry Potter World.

I haven't read the books, but 2 of my kids have. I love all the movies and we re-watch them a couple of times a year. My son who's been gone on a mission for 2 years re-watched all the HP movies when he got home. In fact, I think he and his little sister have watched them 2 or 3 times already in the month he's been home. My 12 year-old has read all the books 3 times and is an expert on all things HP. She can tell you everything that's different in the books and movies. It's amazing what she knows!

another slytherin here! It fits me. Not the whole "evil wizard" part, just the determined, competitive, driven part. lol.

also, the books are so much better than the movies! the movies don't even compare to the books.

Though it's been a while, I've read all the books (from the main series, I never quite got into the newer prequels). DH and I got into them about the time book 5 came out, I think. DS has also read and re-read the series. Recently, there was a little Harry Potter "celebration" at Target. So we took the kids and they were "sorted" by the talking sorting hat toy. DS was placed into Ravenclaw and DD into Hufflepuff, which actually works for them. I've never really taken the time to be sorted so I'll have check out that quiz when I have a little more time!

Ok, so I just took the test. DS was standing here when I started and he said "I guarantee you will be Ravenclaw". I asked him why, and he said "because you are smart and creative (awwww) and I don't know what you were like as a teenager, but I think you are Luna Lovegood". And sure enough, I'm Ravenclaw. From what I've read, it seems pretty accurate.

I haven't taken the quiz yet... but Clara and I were both told we were Gryffindor by the Sorting Hat at the Harry Potter exhibit on the Warner Bros. Studio Tour. I should take the quiz though to really see.
