HI everyone... I am an only child. I always wanted siblings. Never got them, lol! :giggle

    Do you have siblings?
Where do you fall in the birth order?
Do you have characteristics of your birth order?
    Are you closer to any?

I am an only... but my uncle (moms side) and aunt (dads side) were closer in age to me than my parents. So, I didn't have siblings, but I did have that way older brother/sister relationship! They were never Uncle and Aunt, and always just their first name. What I didn't have was that closeness in our relationships, or that tit for tat relationship (happy or annoying). I have good relationships with my family as a whole, but I am closer to them than others.

I do follow the characteristics of being an only child. When growing up I was mature for my age, perfectionist like, conscientious, diligent, spoiled, independent, avoid conflict, and I will say I was selfish until I knew better, lol!

    Do you have siblings?
An older sister and two younger half siblings

Where do you fall in the birth order?
I was always the "baby"/yougest until my half-sibs were born. Now I'm second of 4

Do you have characteristics of your birth order?
I grew up as the youngest so I would relate to that the most but I would still say no. I had to look it up but youngest kids are described as attention seeking and social. I'm super shy and quiet, so really neither of those things.
    Are you closer to any?
Definitely my older sister since we grew up together.

I'm the eldest of 3. We were close as children, but not as adults over the distance.

I am the youngest.. my brother is oldest and we had a stillborn brother between us.

my brother would say i was spoiled, but we have a very close relationship although we live across the state from each other.

    Also an only child.

Both of my parents had siblings. Mom had brother and sister and Dad came from a family of 17 of which 15 grew to adulthood. Although one of my uncles was killed in WWII so I never knew him.

I grew up being very close with the 3 kids my mom's sister had (2 boys and a girl) and the 4 kids one of my dad's brother had. This brother and Dad were only 15 months apart so were very close. I came 10 months after their oldest daughter and 8 months before the next daughter. The 2 boys are 2 years and 4 years younger than me.

However, the 3 kids of my mom's sister are very much like siblings to me. The oldest son is 4 years older, the daughter is 14 months older than me and the youngest son is 9 years younger. When I was in college and the dorm had a sibling weekend, I had the youngest as my little "brother". The daughter has been with me during all of my health issues since fall of 2023. She came to stay with me post surgery (3 times) and took me to appointments to the specialist. She had to drive almost 3 hours to my house then another 90 minutes to get to the specialist. We both call each other our "sister by another mother". Had something happened to my parents when I was still young, this was the family that I would have gone to live with.

I was an only child too. Learned to be by myself and enjoy my own company but like you, Jenn, I always wished I had had siblings. I was independent and mature for my age. Sharing was a hard concept for me to learn since I never had to. Our household was very quiet, just the 3 of us. My mom's brother was a few hours away and we would visit every wkend or two, where there was a much bigger house, 4 kids running around, dogs, and the in-laws' aunts, uncles and grandparents always around too, so it was exciting to visit them and be amongst the flurry of activity always going on.

Do you have siblings? Yes, I am one of four.
Where do you fall in the birth order? I am the oldest!
Do you have characteristics of your birth order? Not sure, would need to check what characteristics are.
Are you closer to any? It changed alot in the past. We tend to argue/fight alot. My husband says we go in circles...love fight love fight. Right now and for a while it's been with the two middles sisters I'm closer with. The youngest, I rather not talk about :crazy3

Do you have siblings? Not really, a step sister but we didn't grow up together so I don't count it.
Where do you fall in the birth order? Oldest and only
Do you have characteristics of your birth order? All of them
Are you closer to any? Not really the age difference and language barrier rules that out. I grew up with cousins that were like baby brothers to me.

Do you have siblings? Yes, I am the oldest of four girls. Three of us were born within 5½ years, the youngest is 18 years younger than I am. My youngest sister is 19 months older than my son, so she was more of a older sister to my two kids, than an aunt.

Where do you fall in the birth order? Oldest

Do you have characteristics of your birth order? Some ... always obey the rules, people-pleaser, responsible, bossy, organized, and on-time ... NOT a leader (unless pushed into it), nor a high achiever.

Are you closer to any? Right now I feel closest to #2 sister (the original middle sister), that said for decades she drove me insane, lol!!!

    Do you have siblings?
Yes - two older brothers, an older sister & a younger sister.

Where do you fall in the birth order?
    4th of 5

Do you have characteristics of your birth order?
    Not sure.

    Are you closer to any?
I’m least close to my oldest brother since he’s nine years older than me and lives out of state.
I’m most similar to my second brother and we live the closest so we see each other the most.
I’m probably closest to my older sister now because she talks to me the most.
I was closest to my younger sister growing up because we always shared a room.

    Do you have siblings?
I have two sisters and one brother

Where do you fall in the birth order?
I am in the middle - sister and brother above me and sister below

Do you have characteristics of your birth order?
DEFINIELY ! very much the middle child who turned out to handle life better than my other sisters.

    Are you closer to any?
Lately I am closer to my older sister but only because we are the ones who see the most of each other. I used be close to my brother but he now lives in New Zealand so I do not have as much contact with him. My younger sister and I were close when we were young. Her husband pulled her away from the the family in a sense but now he is no longer with us, she has returned to be more part of the family.

Do you have siblings? I technically have 5 - an older half sister and an older half brother from my mom's side, a younger "whole" sister from my mom's and on my dad's side I have 2 younger half brothers. I only grew up with the "whole" sister though as the rest lived mostly with their other parent. I didn't have a relationship with my bio dad and didn't meet the younger two brothers until I was in my mid-twenties.

Where do you fall in the birth order? I'm the 3rd child, so neither youngest nor oldest.

Do you have characteristics of your birth order? I definitely have middle child syndrome but I also have some traits of being a first born as my older siblings moved in with their other parent when I was 9 or 10.

Are you closer to any? Not particularly - we came from a pretty fractured home and never really had a chance to grow up together/get to know each other and being military means I don't live near any of them now. We're more like friendly acquaintances than relatives but I am going to Disney next month with my older sister next month and we're both excited for that! :)

I have 2 sets of siblings…. Adopted and biological. I’m the middle child in both sets and dear god I’m the balancing force in set (bio—-they are polar opposites) and in adopted set, I am the rebel…..

Characteristics…. Adopted—not really even though folks swear my adopted brother and I look alike. He’s mixed Hispanic and Caucasian with a touch Native American. I’m Korean and Caucasian.

Bio…. Well there is no denying we are related. No DNA test needed there. We are all very loud when we are together. No other specific characteristics come to mind and that could
Be because I didn’t grow up with them.

I was closest to my adopted Sister (she passed away over 20 years ago) and out of remaining siblings, probably by adopted brother.

Do you have siblings? One brother

Where do you fall in the birth order? I am oldest

Do you have characteristics of your birth order? Maybe some, based on a quick google. I am responsible and did well with academic stuff, but I don't feel like a leader.

Are you closer to any? We are not super close, as our lives are pretty different and we live across the country from each other, but we do get along well when we are together.

I have a sister 5 years older and a brother 3 years younger. My mom had an ectopic pregnancy between my sister and me, that explains the long time between us.

I am easygoing and a peacemaker, which is what Google just told me are two characteristics of middle children.

My brother and I have always been closer. My sister was eager to grow up and I was not. So I played more with my brother. And now as adults he and I are more similarly-minded as well.

    I have one sister

Where do you fall in the birth order?
I'm the oldest by 2 years

Do you have characteristics of your birth order?
I don't really think so. I'm the more laid back, go with the flow one. She is the more structured one (dare I say "uptight" :giggle).

    Are you closer to any?
We're not super close. We don't have a whole lot in common but it's fine when we do hang out.

I have one younger sister...we aren't very close. We hardly talk and are very different people. I'm more quiet snd shy and a homebody and Jodi is popular and a party animal.

Odd fact.. I was suppose to be an identical twin ..but my twin died at child birth due to twin to twin transfusion syndrome.

Another odd fact my husband is an identical twin

I'm super surprised to see how many only child peeps we have here. Like... are only children destined to be scrapbookers or something? :giggle

Do you have siblings? I have one sister

Where do you fall in the birth order? I'm the youngest

Do you have characteristics of your birth order? Not really, I have more characteristics of being the oldest. And I definitely was not spoiled. My mom told me a zillion times as a kid that I was unplanned and that she wasn't ready for another baby yet... and I was a hard baby apparently. :eyeroll

Are you closer to any? Definitely close to my sister. We are only 16 months apart and were always close growing up and even today. We take vacations together and our kids are all close in age and talk almost daily. I love that!

So many different mix of dynamics! I think as an adult having a sibling is different than having one as a child/growing up. I would venture to say age and distance also is a factor on closeness.
