SEriousLY? GSC? why?? favorite? Pad Patter 2/2

I looooove cookies so I don't buy any. When they ask I just make a donation. If I buy them, I eat them. All of them.

just had a sweet little girl scout drop off my cookies tonight ... at 8:15 pm!! Talk about good service. I now have 2 boxes of thin mints, tagalong, and do-si-dos. And I no longer have that $20 bill in my wallet. Oh well ...

I was like, what?? They changed the names? Who knew... it's Samoa's and Tagalongs over here...

I don't think I've had any since I was a GS myself. I remember liking Thin Mints and Tagalongs and not really any of the others. And I really cannot understand the attraction to Samoas. :P Never seen anything like a Lemonade or Shoutout before. Scouting is different in Denmark and there are no cookies, but I don't really miss them, tbh. If you gave me a Tagalong, I'm sure I'd eat it :giggle but I'll live.

Thin Mints All The Way!!!

On Order right now..... I was told middle of FEB3>

Some interesting facts: (FYI)
Next year will be the 100th birthday of the selling of girl scout cookies (1917)
They started baking them in the homes of the girls with mom supervising.
In 1933 they sold for 24 cents a box (per box of 44 cookies!) or 6 boxes for $1.24
During WWII they had to sell calendars instead because of the shortage of sugar, flour, and butter.
In 1951 they had only three varieties, sandwich, mint and shortbread. I was 12 years old then and remember selling these. If I remember correctly (give me a break, that was 64 years ago!!!!) they sold for 75 cents a box.
Troops can now set up stores on line to sell their cookies. It teaches them how to run an on-line business.
Now tell me this MADE your day!!!!! :bk

I love the caramel Samoas too. Years and years ago we found a recipe to make our own thin mints cookies at home and did so every year for Christmas. You dip Ritz crackers (I know it sounds weird, but they are fantastic) into a melted bag of chocolate chips (in a double broiler), with some mint extract and tiny bit of oil. Dip them and lay them on waxed paper. They are SO good and I love the hint of salt from the Ritz crackers with the mint chocolate. I could look up the actual recipe if anyone wants to save money and make your own at home. Do they make GF Ritz?

As a Lifetime member of Girl Scouts and having been a leader for 25 years, I thank all of you who support GS cookie sales. Besides all the deliciousness, the girls learn valuable skills through the sale. Troops use their profits to fund more opportunities for the girls whether it's camp or travel. Councils turn that money around into girl programs and leadership opportunities.

Most councils are set up to allow customers to donate their purchases to either deployed military or to local food banks if you want to support a Girl Scout but either can't eat the cookies or don't want to be tempted.

My favorites are Thin Mints, PB sandwich, Lemonades, and Cranberry Orange Crisp.

Tagalongs and thin mints. And the thin mints are half dairy/egg free and the other half not. So, we have to be careful so that our daughter can have them.
I agree, they are expensive....
