September 2022 Random Challenge

Happy September Scrappers,

Welcome to the September Random Challenge where we are going to use vellum creatively on our layouts.

Vellum is a semitransparent paper. It can be plain, colored, or have a pattern. You can use vellum to add dimension to your pages, cut a shape out of it, cut a word out of it, use it to tone down a busy photo or use it over a busy background paper as a place for your journaling! The possibilities are endless, and I can't wait to see how you use vellum on your pages!

My example:

I clipped a pattern paper to the vellum cut out layer in this template by Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs to highlight my photo.

Challenge rules:

• Create a NEW layout featuring vellum

Gentle Reminder:
Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product. Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery and then linked to the September Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread (please use the share BB IMG code found on the right side in the gallery).

The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month:

2 challenges = 10% off
4 challenges = 20% off
6 challenges = 30% off

If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from the Lilypad! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges).

Shadowing vellum can be tricky at first because of it's transparency. Here's a product that contains a shadow style for acetate/vellum.

And here's a link to a tutorial on customizing vellum shadows in PS and PSE. If you use a different scrapping program, please do a google search for program specific instructions.
