My amazing husband and I were talking about what spices and seasonings we use most often in cooking and it had me wondering... what are your favorites?

Me: Garlic, Onion Powder, Everything Bagel Seasoning and Jerk
Husband: Garlic, turmeric , Cinnomon, Sesame and Cumin

His mom requests I bring TACO and Everything bagel seasonings every time I come over form America! she is so addicted to them! she uses the everything bagel on Everything i swear! *L* its her favorite and she can't find it there . And tacos there are basically just meat and cheese with no spices .. so yeah.. taco seasoning was very different to the whole family

Garlic (fresh or powder), black pepper, onion powder & salt - on like everything I fry.

Otherwise I use a lot of chili flakes, oregano, basil, ginger, turmeric, cayenne and curry powder.

We love it spicy. Depending on what cuisine I cook, I just stuff like gochujang, sambal oelek, teriyaki, miso paste, sesame oil - anything that tastes a lot of umami :D

Honestly outside of salt & pepper I don't use a lot of seasonings regularly. It's partly I think because I'm intolerant to garlic, I can have a bit in some prepared seasonings and sauces but not much plus I'm not one for spice to start with. For fish I'll use lemon pepper & Mexican I'll use taco spice. I end up using more sauces than anything on my protein mostly.

Faves are garlic, basil, oregano, thyme, smoked paprika, black pepper, chili flakes, dill and lemon pepper for fish.

I use the most garlic, onion, cinnamon, and turmeric but I use everything, a lot, in everything I make! Not much cayenne -- sadly, I can't handle hot spicy -- but lots of everything else. And I'll take this opportunity to advertise my favorite seasonings seller, Penzeys. https://www.penzeys.com/ :love

I was addicted to a South African seasoning they had at Trader Joes a few years ago - loved it so much I went back and bought a few extra to assure I would have enough until the next year (assumed they would bring it back seasonally) but they didn't bring it back and I'm now out. :disagree
It had flakes of smoked paprika, garlic, basil, and sea salt and came in a grinder - I tried to duplicate but failed without the flakes of smoked paprika :groan
I ended up searching and found a brand similar on Amazon, so perhaps this post helped spur me on :happydance2

I'll second Penzey's - I've been shopping there for over 25 yrs! Sadly Covid did in our local store, but the first 15 yrs was catalog, then online sales, so not too big of a deal.

Garlic, garlic, and more garlic haha. I also love lemon pepper, onion powder, red pepper flakes, and smoked paprika.

I was just at our trader joes & noticed a bunch of the grinder seasonings were back in stock- I'll have to check for this one! It sounds delicious!

My current go-to is a seasoning mix that one of our billet boys' family got us from a local to them market. It has Himalayan pink salt, onion, garlic, sesame seed, cayenne, black pepper, chili seeds, parsley & chive. It's a little spicy but SO good on chicken or salmon!

I also love Everything Bagel & put it on almost everything too- so good on eggs. It's been on my normal breakfast lately- avocado toast with a fried egg. YUM!

Garlic, Onion, minced onion, oregano, basil, Cavenders Greek Seasoning, Salt, Black Pepper, Truffel Salt (after cooking) Kosher and Sea Salts, cinnamon and other seasonings here and there.

Oh boy... all the seasonings, except Curry. Garlic, Onion Powder, Salt, Pepper, Italian Seasoning Grinder, Basil, Oregano, Montreal Steak, Everything, Chili, Cayenne, Paprika, Red Pepper, Cinnamon, Ginger, Cumin, Nutmeg...

I especially like Kinders different seasoning blends too.

I want to try Flavor God, lol! Anyone try these?!

Besides salt and pepper, my favorite seasoning is McCormick's Montreal Steak. Love it on baked potatoes.

I'd say my most used are garlic, chili powder, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes and paprika. I'm a big fan of everything bagel spice, but I don't use too often.

A new favorite is smoked paprika. We'd never used it before and my hubby found a couple recipes with it and we both love it. Yummy!

Salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder for meats.

Basil & oregano for Italian.
