Scrapping Style changes?

When I started scrapping I hardly ever used templates. Didn't download freebies and it was rare that I even wanted to use them. They used to take me a longer time to scrap with them then without even with clipping papers and such.

Then I started where I'd use them for a challenge or every now and then if I saw one I liked a lot. I learned how to make them my own and got better at making them work time wise for me. But still wasn't too keen on using them all the time.

Now...I seriously can't get enough of them. I find myself looking for cool templates more than before and using them on a majority of my LO's now. And I'm like, whoa what happened to me, this template snubber....turned template lover:beat. ROFL!:moo

So tell me, do you have something similar with your scrapping style that you have changed over the years?! :thinking2

Oh, my scrapping style is all over the place!! I enjoy the changes, and go with the flow! Lately, I'm totally into paint! I add paint to almost all my layouts.

I like paint too, but don't use it as often as I should. lol

I have a style ... but definitely veer off of it often. It's fun to play differently and try new things/ new styles. I think the monthly Style challenges here are so perfect for that!

It's funny you mention that about templates because sometimes they can go really quick for me ... and other times - OMG it can take forever to get it done. So weird. But I do really love using them!

I started out as a very clean minimalist scrapper. After a few yrs I started using a lot more brushes, paint and overlays and then discovered that I just loved to cluster. So these days, my pages are a lot fuller. I'm still a bit of a minimalist though, usually.

I've definitely morphed from a more filled style to clean and simple over the years! I look back at some of my older pages and wonder if they were scrapped by the same person!

I yearn to be a clean scrapper. Lot's of white space, clean, crisp lines....I am not that at all. Maybe one day I will grow into that type of scrapper. I also use more templates now because I love how versatile they are and I have less scrap time than I used to.

This is so me! I used to think templates were sort of cheating (what a scrapping snob hmph....) but now am totally addicted to them!

I would also love to be a clean lines scrapper occasionally but it seems I am incapable. I just have to add some paint and a border and , oh some sprinkles would look good there and some word art and before you know it, back to my normal messy style...

When I started scrapping it was without templates, but the last several years I've been almost strictly a template scrapper. I find that it removes a lot of decision making from my process that lets me scrap faster than before.

I am a pretty clean scrapper, with a solitary cluster. It's funny... you look at my gallery and that is what you will see. I have completely changed. I started out with heavy clusters, layers, and everything but the preview on my pages. In the last 7 years of scrapping, I have whittled down my style to a clean and simple scrapper. I LOVE templates, and started out using them for every.single.layout! I have grown and can scrap without them if needed, but still prefer templates. Less thought involved, lol!

In the 10+ years I've been scrapping, my style has changed lots of times I think, if I even have one lol. I love playing around with different styles. I was the same as you as far as templates go, now I can't get enough of them!!

Ha ha - and I have gone the opposite way - from clean, simple templates to clusters and layers and paint using templates, to gasp - art journaling and no templates! I like templates as they help me arrange things on a page and they do help me scrap faster. It has been fun to try new styles, which the challenges here at TLP do!

I can definitely see that my style has changed since I've started. I used to scrap lift so many layouts because the program I started out using wasn't compatible with any templates. Then I switched to PSE and then to PS. I very rarely scrap without a template now.

I used to do the whole thing with the flowers and the buttons and all those cutesy little things. But I'm finding out that I really like my pages to be simpler now. Some of my favorite layouts are just big photos and not much of anything else. I still prefer to scrap lots of pictures, using doing2-page spreads. I like that when I open up my albums that the whole story is in front of me.

If you see a single photo in a layout from me, you can almost be sure that it is either for a challenge or a CT layout, and I will usually then make it into a double page spread if it will be included in my albums.

Exactly what @KarenW said!

I defenitely have changed my scrapping style since I begun like better shadow work and using stamps and paint.
When it comes to my layouts I´m all over the place depending on my mood! :bk

My natural style has 'shrunk' over the years! I used to have GIGANTIC photos on my pages & now it's usually just one small photo with some clustering & journaling around it & a whole lotta white space around that.

If I have more than two photos on my page, it's a template. The same applies if you see a page of mine that's all 'filled up' with stuff from edge to edge.

i started reading this thread on my phone the other day and this is me too - so not completely weird or we're both wird, whatever
