Scrapping opposite seasons

This is specifically for those of us who live south of the equator!

How do you all scrap with products that so heavily feature the seasons being opposite to us? Eg: Summer isn't June through August rather December through February etc yet there's mentions of specific months or kits that feature a tonne of snow & cozy vibes for winter - those are just a couple of examples I've thought of today.

I avoid seasonal/calendar kits for that reason. Anything that mentions months in a word art or title is generally not much use, Northern hemisphere calendar related quotes and sayings don't work. Most winter kits are too wintery given that it doesn't snow where I am. I avoid buying snowflakes - that limits the Christmas kits too.

You can also use the kit and a font to make / recreate your own coordinating word art with the month you need.

Being from South Africa I can so relate to your dilemma... sunny Christmas and no snow in winter means that certain kits are very limiting as well as our school year runs Jan-Dec not Sept-May. Also the abundance for seasonal stuff on sale when I am not in that season can be overwhelming... thankfully I don't scrap chronologically so I tend to pick photos that will match a specific kit (for CT work or a challenge) otherwise I only really buy kits that I know I will use or are seasonally/theme neutral. I tend to avoid halloween kits as it's not something I ever celebrate. I will also substitute wordart or make my own if it's not applicable... ie work around what is included to fit with what I am scrapping.

So unless the challenge calls for current photos I will use last year's photos (or even before then) if it will fit the challenge requirements.

I have the same issue here in the "Valley of the Sun" (i.e., Phoenix, AZ). We are in the desert and so we don't get changing leaves, sweater season, snow, etc. at all really. For us, winter is the season we go outside and enjoy the beautiful weather rather than staying inside and being cozy.

So, if it's a very themed kit, I will scrap older more seasonal photos that go with the theme. Or I'll skip the word art. I often modify journaling cards by adding word art or other elements to cover the themed words or designs on the card.

I used to live in Southern California, so I can relate. I'm surprised there are not more designers from the southern hemisphere or warm climates addressing this issue...

I lived in Phoenix for 30 years, now I’m further south in the Tucson area. Not much for seasons here. We kind of go between beautiful and beastly hot, with a touch of it’s a little chilly today. Mostly I avoid anything that has a major seasonal twist. And I seem to gravitate toward more neutrals and muted tones no matter what.
