I’ve pinned a lot of paper layouts on pinterest https://www.pinterest.nz/jmcdon87/layout-inspiration/ so keen to start scraplifting them. Since I have over 1300 pins pinned and am overwhelmed by it all, would you split them up into say number of photos, title work, clusters etc or another way. The end goals are to be inspired and lay off the templates for a bit to stretch my budget.

@littlekiwi I don't know how I would work it, other than I would go with the photos I have and work that way.

Re the templates that you do have, have you mixed them - to mix a few templates together to make a new one to stretch your budget even further ? or rotate the template to get a different perspective..remove some items from a template and rotate a few of the items or flip it horizontally this way they will be different compositions? That is what I would do if I was a template scrapper all the time and needed to stretch for my budget.

There are many ways to use the same template differently. (Dalis @Dalis was doing that with the challenges this month using the April Challenge Template as the main base... I think @Rikki Rikki joined her in that exploration.)

I create as I go alot of the time, although I have used templates and a lot of the designers have free templates offered on their blogs for challenges. I say mix and match and where ever you get inspiration from scrap that based on your photos.

I also agree scraplifting from others (giving credit of course) is a great thing too. That is why I enjoy the scraplift challenge every month as you can peer through someone's gallery and scraplift something that isn't your norm and you can scrap out of your comfort zone, with some guideance.

Whatever you decide Jennifer, I can't wait to see you fill up the gallery :) I am loving your pages since you started scrapping again with the MOC :)

I’ll get back to scrapping soon @cfile Had to pretty much write April off, just lots on my mind at the moment - my job interview is on the 7th and my mums cardiology appt is on the 8th of May (to know what the next steps in treating her are etc) so scrapping has just been number 999 on the list lately.

I totally get scraplifting, just need to figure out ways to know whats on my board so Im thinking categories (basically what drew me to the layout) might be my best option so that I actually use the inspiration.

@littlekiwi Jennifer, I just thought of another source too for you. Even if you cannot make a chat whether it is a slow or speed scrap, the instructions are posted and even if it isn't in time for completion for a coupon, you can still use that as a guide for scrapping one of your pages. That will help you to scrap without a template and let your creativity loose :giggle ... also check prior months challenges, and those that you weren't able to do at the time, because of time constraints, you can do at your leisure to complete additional pages. Also repeat an MOC challenge that you really loved with different photos... there are so many ways at our disposal to stretch our imagination, including a pinterest board with ideas :)

Also I understand re your Mom.. that takes precedence over everything else. I will keep her in my thoughts and you as well re your job interview. I know I use scrapping alot to get me through rough spots. Keeping you in my thoughts.

I like your idea of splitting them up as to what inspired you to use that layout. There are many times I will do a layout based on 4 or 5 different layouts I am scraplifting; taking an idea from each of them. That is really fun and challenging.
Keep us posted on your interview and your mom. Hope all goes well and I will keep you both in my prayers for good outcomes.

When I pin a layout for inspiration I include in the pin details what it was that inspired me. To stop myself getting too overwhelmed I tend to delete pins after I use them and refrain for adding more if there are 10+ outstanding.

OMG, what an amazing compilation!!!!!!! WOW!!!! Seriously, amazing! I would literally pick a random number and look for that page/inspiration and scraplift that page OR something that you like from that page. EASY PEASY.... I would be willing to do it with you! This looks like a fun challenge!

I second what @cfile said. I will be forever grateful to @Dalis for the "template challenge" this month which was so fun! Depending on how elaborate the template in May is I will do that again. I never thought you can get so much life out of one template.

Also, don't forget sketches! I am planning to use more of them in the future because they give you a general idea but don't stifle your creativity in any way because you can go from your starting point to wherever you want. When you look at the sketches at Let's get skecthy (a lot of the team are paper scrappers I think) people sometzimes modify those sketches so much that it is really mind boggling. One can still see where they came from but added their own style.

I’m definitely not looking for more ideas.....I think 1300 is more than enough! It’s more about how to organise my board so that I actually am able to find inspiration from what I’ve already pinned.

Sorry Jennifer... I was offering you suggestions since you did not want to buy more templates because of your budget, I was offering alternatives on your template issue.

I am so glad you enjoyed it. I should do one more page w/ that template. LOL!!!

@littlekiwi I would say don't worry too much about organizing them because you will spend your "play" time organizing and never get to play. Just pick a number at random and GO FOR IT!

with as many as I have, I need some way of whittling it down into a more manageable amount even if it’s just putting it in groups of 100-200 cause too many options causes indecision with me. If I broke it down into smaller amounts then I’d use the pick one randomly approach I think.

Makes sense, but don't loose yourself in the indecision, ok?

I really enjoyed going through your pinned layouts! You've found some really lovely things when searching online.

A few things jumped out at me as I quickly zipped through it. Different things might pop out to you than I saw, but maybe go through your album and quick-view it like I did. Here's what I might categorize yours as:

Circles
Columns, rows (linear)
Grids of columns and rows (two dimensional)
Banners, flags,
Lots of photos
Sketches
