Sandy?

I'm praying it's not as strong as they are calling for... Sending lots of safe thoughts your way east-coasters!

School's canceled for us tomorrow and we've prepared for the inevitable power outage. This time last year we were without power for five days. Luckily, I had not been introduced to digital scrapbooking yet so I didn't miss my favorite hobby at that time but this year, I will be very sad if I have to spend my day off with no Lilypad. *sniff* Seriously though, hope all my East Coast peeps are safe and happy.

keep safe. fill up a bathtub in case the power goes really kaput - then you have washing type water if needs be. ;)

they are calling it FrankenStorm, and say it's the biggest storm to ever hit the US
hopefully, am far enough inland (here in PA) that we'll just have some wind and rain, how much? who knows!
stay safe, everyone!

I'm supposed to have an appointment with my new reproductive endocrinologist tomorrow. I was really looking forward to this appointment but it is supposed to be when the storm is starting to get worse. I don't know what to do. I would brave the storm if it was a local appointment but it is an hour and a half away. I am so frustrated. Why does it have to be so hard and involved to have a baby? I should be able to make that happen by staying home! Lol!

Oh no, Roni, that's terrible. I really feel for you Roni, IF is stressful enough without having to deal with bad weather.

I had to drive about 300 km each way for my IF treatments and appointments. Near the end of our IVF cycle (which was winter of course), they recommended staying in town in a hotel to avoid the possibility of trouble getting there if the weather went bad. They've had a number of people who spent $thousands and then missed their retrieval or embryo transfer because they got stuck in snow on the highway or worse.

Maybe you could call and explain and they could fit you in later on? Doctors do sometimes squeeze extra appointments in for just this kind of reason.

Hoping all our East Coast girls are staying safe, and that the storm is not as bad as being predicted. Hugs.

Bathtub full of clean water is a great idea, especially if water mains freeze and you don't have drinking water.

I'm at my mom's this week for my birthday and she's just outside Toronto. We're under heavy wind and rainfall warnings right now. I just came back from going for my run and the rain is starting. It isn't supposed to hit southern Ontario until later tonight after it's passed the US east coast. Stay safe everyone.

Sending everyone prayers. Y'all stay safe and hope that Sandy goes by quickly and without any damage.

Stay safe all of you!!! I guess that is one of the good things about being in the southwest. The worst that ever happens is we get a dust storm now and again. lol

we had a really big tree fall about a block from us - it's laying on top of all the power lines and they are working on cleaning it up now - we still have power right now - but one of my friends about a mile away is down ...

feeling bad for all of you closer to the storm!

Thanks for your understanding Heather! We ended up braving the weather but we went to the appointment a bit early. The roads driving there were bad but we took a different route home which was better. The appointment went well. People in the office were really nice and we liked the dr. He was really down to earth and straight forward. The nurses seemed great there too. I met the lady in charge of the research studies and I loved her. There is an IVF study coming up around the new year we should be able to do. It won't be free but it will be reasonably cheap for IVF. I'm excited but nervous!

YEAY!! I was wondering if you made it.

I have a friend saying 600,000 people are without power in NY. :(

We just heard from my brother on Long Island, NY. He is without power and they estimate he will get it back in 7-10 days! Ugh!

Winds are roaring around here - in NH and Maine. About 150,000 without power right now. I'm dog sitting while my sister works the 6am 6pm shift at one of our local power companies. Ironically Grady (her dog) could care less about the winds. I just took him out and he wanted to go for a walk and is throughly unimpressed that I cut it short! I'm one of the lucky ones that still has power for now.. Knock on wood. My friend is getting married Saturday. Her fiancé is a lineman - working out there now - prayers that he's home safe and sound in time for his big day. Spoke too soon - lights are flickering. Hoping everyone is safe out there..

Thinking of all you East Coasters - stay safe and sound...

yikes, I heard it took out the entire Atlantic City boardwalk!!!

all I lost was my mailbox and post, whew!

All of my family lives in New England and my younger brother lives in NYC. They said that it was getting bad last night. I hope everyone is staying safe! I think I saw that 6-something million people are without power this morning? That's crazy!
