im-gonna-take-it-back-return.gif

I had a bunch of returns to take back today to multiple stores. Took me all afternoon. I hate doing returns even if they have a good return policy. I'd much rather get it right the first time and not have to go back and wait in line to return items. My hubby, however, doesn't like to try things on and would rather return items... or in other words have me return the items. I'm so over that and after today I told him, if he won't try things on, then it's up to him to return them because I'm not doing it anymore. :giggle

How do you feel about returns?

I have to deal with them because I buy most of my clothes from an online seller and I can't try them on in the store because there is no local store for me to do so. It's pretty easy to do it online though. Going to stores would drive me nuts.

We don't end up doing very many returns, but for those that we do, it depends on the store. Target is close, returns are usually quick, and I can combine the trip with other needs, so I don't mind those. I have started making Kaylee do their own returns though since they prefer the at-home try on, and I figure it's good practice for them to know how to do it.

I order clothes a few times a year from JCPenney because they have basics I either can't buy locally (tall jeans) or that I don't want to drive all over to find (tops that meet my work dress code). It's a bit more of an effort to return those, but the ease of being able to get what I need is worth it.

So I guess, overall, I don't mind returns, but if I had to take an entire afternoon doing it, that would bother me too.

I don't buy many clothes at all. And, when I do it is usually my favorite style of jeans so I know what size to get or sweatshirts/t-shirts/sweatpants. It's been 5 years since I bought a nice dress and I got it from Blair. Ordered several, tried them on at home and returned the ones I didn't want. Their returns are easy.

I really haven't had great luck purchasing online, and would rather go in store than have to try on a bunch and end up returning all or most of it at the end. I do not like going to a customer service line. Not because of the employees, but because there are usually one or more people acting like children and fussing and making a disgrace of themselves.

@keepscrappin I would definitely have my hubby make his own returns if that's what he chose to do. My hubby has no problem doing his own shopping and his own returns.

I don't like shopping much period.. I'm not q shopping a shopping kinda girl.. I buy a lot of shit on Amazon and just return to Kohls If it doesn't fit. KOHLS makes it easy to return Amazon stuff and is close to work so it isn't really an extra trip. I'm kinda lazy like that....lol
Eric is the big shopper in the house...

We shop locally when we can and order online when we can't (or when we're buying additional colors of something we already know fits). I seem to be a hard body shape to fit; in the store I may try on 10+ items to find one that fits well. I'd much rather try on at the store and not have to return, but it doesn't always work out that way.

I don’t generally buy clothes online - I tend to shop at charity or op shops and anything I don’t buy there are just from a local department/big box type store. This is mainly because the last time I bought clothes online there was a huge muck up - poor quality, received extra stuff in a different size, was missing stuff and the closest shop was either 90ish mins north west or about the same south of where I live. I did the return but that was the last time I bought clothes online

I don't care much either way but lately I am just awful at getting things back to the store I meant to return them to. It's so frustrating to have all this junk in a pile that I need to take back (mostly amazon returns that need to go to Kohl's). But, there they are in the storage box waiting for me to get it together... Grr...

Huggles!!

I don't love returning stuff, but I do it if I need to. My son tries to do the same thing as your hubby... he never wants to take the time to try stuff on in the store. He says he'll try it on later and then fully expects me to use my precious time to return stuff for him, but I refuse. He's finally getting better about not arguing with me about it at least. :giggle

My parents are the worst about returning stuff. They order a TON of stuff from Amazon and then if things don't work out, they just give all their cast offs to me. Its insane the amount of money they waste just because they can't be bothered to return stuff... and it's SO easy! You literally click a button and then drop stuff off at Kohls or the UPS Store. You don't even have to package it up anymore. The latest item was a $400 wheelchair. I took it home thinking I could sell it on Facebook Marketplace, but apparently that violates some healthcare policy, so not I'm stuck with a brand new wheelchair in my garage and I don't know what to do with it.

Do you have a local senior center? Or meals on wheels? Our senior center has a wheelchair that was donated and they use it for guests that need it. They may also be able to tell you where it could be donated or who might accept it. Sometimes meals on wheels has similar information.

I did two returns yesterday. One - I wasn't paying attention and got the cord going the wrong way so back to Amazon through Kohls it went.
The other was an electronic lock that the electronic part wasn't working right. So back to Lowe's it went. Sigh, I ended up buying a different one on Amazon that no one local carries.

Tiny rant: I hate when I have to use Amazon because no one local has it available or it's out of stock. Like the cord I needed. Simple computer headphone splitter, but no one local had one. Ugh.

I don't mind returns, but I don't do a lot of them. I tend to be a research first, then buy person. And I either try stuff on at the store, or I buy the same style in a different color. Which sometimes does backfire on me, but works well typically.

I need to drop an Amazon return at Whole Foods today, which is just up the street from my office. I try to be very careful when buying so that I don't have to make returns. But if I need to, I just suck it up and do it. I'm cheap, lol!!!

Yes, this! I'd much rather try on at the store because I have a hard time finding things that fit me correctly. The sizing and cuts are different on every item even if they say they're the same size. Men's clothing is more standardized so my hubby doesn't have that problem and can't understand why I don't like buying clothes online. Plus, I like to feel the fabric and see if it's flimsy or see through... can't do that shopping online.

I'm a research first person as well. When I ordered the new computer, I looked into what connection ports it had to hook up the 2 monitors. I realized it didn't have a VGA port and my one monitor is older and VGA. I texted the tech guy, told him what ports were on the computer and he sent me a link to a cord on Amazon. That way I knew it was right! I would have eventually gotten there but he got back to me in less than 10 minutes while he was at work.

I also agree about not being able to buy things locally. But then living in a small town that happens a lot. I was actually looking for something at Wal-Mart and when I asked about the item, they said they don't carry it. I responded with "guess I'll go to Amazon". They told me to try Wal-Mart online. I said "no thanks, I'll stick with Amazon". Then I did some more research and found I didn't need what I was even looking for (although it was like a $3 product).

The couple of times I had to return Amazon items, I did the UPS pickup at my home. Kohl's is 25 minutes away and we don't have a UPS store in town. Heck, I even looked to see where Amazon order pickups were close to me and I'd have to drive the same 25 minutes to pick up. Although we do now have the little blue Amazon vans delivering in town. Just started in the last 3 months. The closest fulfillment centers to me are 60 to 90 minutes away.

It's definitely a pain when the online shop messes up your order and there isn't a local store. We had this problem back in February with some jeans that DD#2 bought online. She ordered the correct size but the pair they shipped were sized incorrectly and we had to drive an hour to pick up some in the store. When we got to the store they didn't have dressing rooms open (still closed from the pandemic) to try on, so I bought them and made her try them on in the mall bathroom. That way we could return the jeans that didn't fit before making the trip back home. What a pain but we were finally able to get the correct size and color.

I have a friend who always has returns in a pile. She shops like my hubby with the intention of returning some items. I can't stand the piles and had to get them out of here before time was up to be able to get a refund.

I agree, I can't believe how some people behave in public... definitely disgraceful!

@dotcomkari @Memaw2Wm - I am glad Kohl's takes Amazon returns but even then it's not very convenient, (at least at our Kohls). They put the return station at the back of the store so you have to go through the entire store carting your returns. I know they do this to try to get you to buy stuff in store, but our Kohl's stock is so low that it's pitiful. I'm afraid they are going to close it, the selection in store is that bad. You literally have to buy online because they don't have much in the store.... so sad.

Has the Amazon return window ended? I'd be looking for another place to sell that thing... craigslist, mercardi, yard sale... something.
