Regional Foods?

And I biomechanically NEED some authentic poutine. The only time I've had it, I've had to make it at home. lol. We don't live far from Canada, but it's not big in Windsor.

Chicago style hotdogs and deep dish pizza...two of the greatest things about living where I live. Another great thing..Jimmy John's..I've never lived anywhere with a Jimmy John's before and I have to say I love that we can usually get a sandwich order delivered in like 15-20 minutes.

I used to live in St. Louis and there are some interesting regional foods there...St. Louis style pizza (aka Imo's) isn't my favorite but DH loves it..DH has an American Test Kitchen recipe for it that he was really thrilled with though. I'd still rather order a deep dish pie any day of the week. Also toasted ravioli is another St. Louis thing...served as an appetizer with marinara sauce..so yum!

Honestly I have lived so many places and have so many fond food memories. I wish I could take a trip through the US and visit all my favorite food eateries...But then I would probably weigh twice what I do now.

Ya, I grew-up in Windsor and never had a really good poutine there. I actually didn't try one until I was in my 20's; I was afraid I would like them too much. LOL

We have some great sushi and other seafood along the coast of California. I have this weird rule now when I travel. If the place isn't within 2-3 hrs of a coast, then I'm not going to eat their sushi!

I LOVE sushi. Maybe I better NOT eat it near a coast... I'd hate to ruin the stuff I'm used to and have available. Haha.

We have a winter festival every year, (coming up in February), where all of the different cultures make their native dishes. They have pavilions set up all across the city - Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, English, First Nations, French Canadian, German, Irish, Metis, Scottish, Ukranian, USA and Mauritius.

Here's the link if you want to check it out....Lieutenant Governor's Winter Festival

You know what's sad...I've never been. :( Maybe this year!

Otherwise, we're smack dab in the middle of Canada and we've got great farm fresh vegetables and amazing corn on the cob!

I think Utah is best known for a burger place called Crown Burger. . . it has pastrami and beef on it, to die for! (and then, add that much needed fry sauce!) Golden!

also~ jello, funeral potatoes, scones, honey and Bear Lake raspberries, Brigham City peaches and Maddox Chicken!

Y'all need to come on down to Arkansas! Take your choice of BBQ or Catfish! Yum-O~

Here in Louisiana we have no shortage of wonderful, delicious foods! My favorites are gumbo, red beans and rice, jambalaya and sauce piquant, all of which are regulars on our menu at home. And, beignets just may be my favorite food. Ever.

I don't know what's regional to Tampa, as we just moved here. I'd imagine citrus fruit & products though.

But I'm from Massachusetts where the New England clam chowder is awesome. So is any type of seafood and Boston baked beans (although I wouldn't know about that...I don't eat beans).

When I went to Montreal, Quebec I ate poutine any chance I got. Poutine is french fries with gravy and cheese curds. Totally a heart attack waiting to happen...a yummy yummy heart attack...LOL

Our fast food restaurants in Canada sell poutine as well, but they aren't as good.

MMMMMMMMM..... Pooouuuuutiiinnnneeee!!!! lol! Seriously people, everyone needs to try this! lol!

Well... I know BBQ has been mentioned... but as someone who lives right out of Memphis... and grew up there... I think I have more the right to mention it. :p

Ummm... I don't know what else. lol I know there are some things we have that some people don't care much for, or haven't tried, but I don't know how much of it is regional just to my area, or is regional to the whole southeast.
