I love to rearrange furniture. I mean, it is how I deep clean. Pull everything to one side of room, scrub baseboards, walls, and corners! I will steam clean, and scrub and then rearrange the furniture in new and creative ways. I enjoy it. I think it is because we moved so often as a child (Dad in Navy).
I also love to move rooms! My kids love it too. We pull everything out of one of their rooms, scrub it down. Sometimes paint. Then another kid (used to be set of kids) move in. We usually do this on yucky weather days. Wet, and cold in winter and so wicked hot in summer.
Yesterday, I moved my huge U shaped desk (thank you to my husband and strong boys). From one room to another. I steamed the tile floor in new room, to sanitized.
So, today, I am putting everything back. The hard part...
Do you rearrange? My best friend has had her couch in the same spot for 25 years. They bought a new couch and it went right in the same spot. It looks good, but I love to change it up?
How about you?

and for the record...I am exhausted! bhahah

I would love to do that but we have a very small rental house & not a lot of furniture so there's not really anyplace for it to go other than where it already is.

Our bedroom is a converted sunporch so it's not connected to the house's HVAC system. We had to flip the bed from one side to the other so we could stick a window A/C unit in this summer. The room is so small that there's just enough room to walk between the (queen) bed & the wall. When the A/C unit is in, you have to lean backwards over the bed in order to get past.

I can't wait for our forever house! I will move the furniture every day in there! :giggle

I do the same thing as far as the cleaning, but I don't rearrange quite as much. We have a large sectional sofa that only fits together one way in the LR. We got my oldest son a bunk bet with a desk and shelves underneath and it only fits in his room one way. And I have my late grandmother's antique BR furniture which is sooo heavy that I don't move it more than once or twice a year. That being said, I was brought up in a very clean household. We were taught by my step mom how to deep clean and I continue to do that now. I can get the kids to help with cleaning the baseboards and such now, but the ceilings in this old farmhouse are so high, I can't even reach them when I stand on a ladder. I can't wait for Spring to take down all the curtains to wash & hang outside.

The family room has a big sectional and it only fits one way ... so we don't rearrange (unless you count moving the single chair and table to make room for the Christmas tree) ...and I always deep clean and move everything at that time (also usually in the spring too).

Our basement, on the other hand has lots of opportunites for rearranging the couch and TV. We've done that quite a few times over the years. The latest rearranging includes one big wall that now has a huge projection screen.

I love a good deep clean where the carpets/floors and every inch of the cushions get cleaned! Such a good feeling after it is done!

I am with @3BluEyedBabies too with wanting spring to get here so I can take down the curtains (well the white sheer parts) to clean them and open the windows! Ahhh! Love that!

Yes! We have one particular room we have rearranged a bunch. First it was office/den, then playroom, now it has become 1/2 bedroom for my oldest and 1/2 playroom. I'm kind of itching to swap our living and dining areas now but can't quite pull the trigger. I definitely need to do some deep cleaning though! :)

Nope, absolutely not. I'm a stubborn creature of habit. I have to do something with the kitchen though, it's just not working for me.

Oh! I love to rearrange furniture, closets, rooms, etc etc! I rearrange the living room and bedrooms about every 4 to 6 weeks. Once I've rearranged I change out the decorations as well. I obviously, can't rearrange the kitchen, but I do change out the decor there once a month or so - and rearrange what's on the counter tops. When I rearrange, I too, do the deep cleaning. I find it very therapeutic!

Used to drive my husband bonkers - now he embraces it! :-) Or at least he doesn't complain! LOL!

I have known my husband for 39 year and his parents house is practically the same as it was the first day I walked in - different furniture, but in the absolute same place! :-)

I am not allowed to re-arrange. I have tried through the years but Hubby likes it best the way it is now. We have added and subtracted through the years but no moving around for variety. Thankfully he helps me move stuff so it can be cleaned, but back it goes.

I am currently working on downsizing my craft space because we are giving the office to my daughter. My kids get their own rooms now, and our "office" moves to the living area, in the open.

We haven't done much rearranging since we moved into our home 4 years ago, but I hope with my declutteriing and downsizing in the next few weeks, we'll have options for other things in the house to move. So far, I've cleaned out some kitchen cabinets, so I can move some infrequently used kitchen appliances into that space, etc. I am excited to see the changes all over my house. But it's a slow process, not something I can do in just one day. Haha

Nope, not these days.

In my younger days when I lived in apartments, I would move furniture around. And, I used to move the furniture around in my office/craft room. However, I've got so much in here now that there is really no other arrangement that would work. My computer has to be on a certain wall as does the TV.

The living room is really the only room that could be changed around but I like the major pieces where they are. I have gotten rid of a few larger pieces from the living room and the guest bedroom so I can move minor things around. The 2 bedrooms pretty much need to have the bed on the walls they are on and look best that way.

As for deep cleaning, what is that? I can't do daily dusting let alone a deep clean. I dusted just the living room last week and had to quit because of my allergies flaring up. Physically, I also have a bad lower back and right hip so moving furniture is not something I can do anymore. 10 years ago, yeah, was not quite the problem. I moved a bookcase from the office to the living room and it took me an hour to do it and it isn't that big a bookcase and it was empty. Had to put it on a large towel and pull it across the floor. Every 5 feet I had to stop and sit down to rest my back even though I had on my back brace.

So since there is no man in the house to do the heavy lifting, it don't get done!

I loved to do that when I was growing up. Then I'd draw a map of my bedroom in my diary and label the furniture. :D

As an adult I haven't been as compelled to rearrange furniture. I used to think about it, but for the most part, the furniture fits best just one or two ways. The only furniture I've moved since we redecorated our house in 2011 is my big comfy chair (you may have seen it in a couple of scrapbook pages :love ) from one corner of the family room to the other, and a bookcase. The chair was originally moved just to make room for the Xmas tree in 2016, but I liked it so much in its new corner, I left it there. I also want to get a second, similar chair so we have more seating space, but who knows when we'll get around to it.

My mother used to rearrange all the time. But every apartment and house that I have lived in doesn't leave much to rearrange. There is very little wall space in both our living and family rooms - gotta love open concept, right. One wall in our family room has a fireplace and 2 sliding doors. Another wall has a door to the powder room, a door to the basement, and a little alcove space that fits the TV. The last wall has the steps to the upstairs and a door to the kitchen. So, yeah, that leaves just one place for the couch.

When I was younger, my parents never knew what my room was going to look like b/c I moved things around just about weekly LOL!!

Now, I set it up and leave it be, maybe once in a great while I'll get a bug you know where and rearrange, but not often. It think it's because these cookie cut houses are pretty much set up to force you have the rooms set up a particular way.

I love to rearrange furniture! Actually, I'm in the middle of picking up the play room because I want to use it as an actual dining room. (I also want to have bookcases made for one of the walls so it's like library/dining room, but that's a long way off!) Clearing out the play room also means I have to pick up and rearrange DS's room so that all his toys fit in his room instead of the play room.

@JillW your ILs sound like my parents! For the almost 35 years they've been in their home, they've always had the living room sofas facing each other. When my brother and his wife moved in while house hunting, my brother moved one sofa so it made an L shape with the other one, just to clear a wall for my brother's big tv. My mom, in a state of shock, called me and just couldn't believe it--not out of anger but in sheer surprise the 2 sofas could still fit in the room with one of them turned 90 degrees. That layout had never occurred to her.

As soon as my brother moved out, that sofa went right back to its former spot!

I am not a rearranger (is that even a real word?). The last time I tried to do that I wanted to move my daughter's room around. I wound up pinching a nerve in my neck and it gave me grief for MONTHS.

In all fairness, though, our home now has a very open floor plan and there are only so many ways to arrange things. I rearrange smaller things - like things on my shelves - more often. But furniture... nope.

When I was younger, my parents never knew what my room was going to look like b/c I moved things around just about weekly LOL!!
Now that you mention this - I remember rearranging my bedroom all of the time - :-) I guess it starts early in life!

I don't. Things can stay in the same place for years, and aside from being moved to clean the floor, they pretty much stay put. I used to change my bedroom around, but I don't even think about it anymore. I am more addicted to cleaning the computer desk and making sure the desktop is clear of clutter and ready to be used. My 14 year old leaves dishes, crumbs, plates, everything. UGH UGH UGH!!

I hate rearranging furniture, but that might be because my husband is constantly moving things around!

It runs in my family. Practically every time we visit my parents things are different, lol. As a kid we would never know if our lounge would be the same when we got home from school. Mum LOVES to change things around, and I do too. I am a bit more limited than I would like in my current rental, but I am still moving things around all the time. Enough that my friend comes over every 3 weeks or so (for craft) and says, "Um was that there last time?" LOL!!

I do have to be careful now. With quite a weak back (3 pinched nerves, same spot, in 5 years) as a result of weight and having children, I have to watch out for my back and actually ask for help, yuck! No more moving the big couch by myself.

And another gif... I want some of this furniture... AMAZING!! "Moving furniture" takes on a whole new level, move over Murphy Bed's and Sofa Beds.
