Try going from top to bottom and then clipping and changing opacity on the overlay

okay not sure what you are doing here my dear... the two highlighted layers you have there must be at the top.. Also I think the width of the overlay is too wide.

if it is directly on the paper it should be like I am reflecting in my layer pallette: and the blend mode set to overlay

Here it looks like the line is too sharp and thin.

I am going to try and show you the layer pallet

@AnneofAlamo here are two screen shots so you can see the overlay for each of the gray 50% fill layers. Of course since I was using your flat image I had to finagle a bit but this is basically how you would do it following my tutorial with no styles or paper overlays... It is just using a 50% gray filled layer that you paint the line on and clip that to the paper/photo layer below

Does that make sense now? The gray layer on each is the 50% gray fill layer set to overlay and you would use the soft round and paint a black line across..l then adjust the opacity and fill and as you can see the 2 layers have different settings based on the page. I also manipulated the shadow underneath to bend a little to also help with the bend / folded illusion.

    Hope that helps Anne :)

My brain is fighting this. I love the effect, I think I am confusing something.
My puter is doing update of ridiculous length...so gonna play a game with boys, and come back and focus.
I think I hate my pages so much. Haha.
I shall put I some Christmas music and try later.
