First of all, I'm sorry if this has been answered before. I looked through all the threads here but I couldn't find one about this. I have just started redoing my kids baby books with the project life baby editions, and I am ready to send off for my first batch of pictures but I am not sure whether to order them in glossy or matte. I have read that the mattes can come out too dark and the glossy is to 'finger printy'. Are either of these true? I am super duper confused. Which do you use for your project life? and if you don't mind telling me why you chose one over the other? Thanks ladies!!
I print at home but have used both glossy paper and semi-gloss paper. I actually prefer glossy, especially since the semi-gloss paper is a lot more expensive. Matte paper is too flat to me. Is there any way you could send off a few pics at a local store first, in different finishes, so you can compare and see which is your favorite?
I was actually thinking about doing this but I thought I would ask first in case there was like 90% of you who used the same then I could just skip that step as I am anxious to get the first pictures in the books. That is a good idea though just to be on the same side and I may still go ahead and do it.
I get my photos printed at costco and choose the lustre option - right in between glossy and matte. I like it, it has a nice sheen to it but it doesn't get finger printy.
I print at Persnickety and print with their gloss option. I find that the images really pop on the glossy paper. It does tend to attract fingerprints, but we don't touch the prints once they're in the album, just the page protectors.
I print at home on Epson Ultra Premium Glossy paper. (how's that for specific?) You lose photo detail/crispness when you move towards the semi gloss and matte finishes. Colors aren't as vibrant and edges aren't as sharp.
I use this Canon 4x6 paper. It's glossy and prints nicely. I don't care about fingerprints, since it goes in the page protector, but I would say that the fingerprints don't show on it anyway.
Where are you printing from? I agree with Liz, Costco lustre is great. I've never been a fan of glossy but I have found that on e you put them in the protectors, you can't really tell a big difference.
