Has anyone had problems with journaling using PSE? No matter what font I use, or what size, it is all-caps. I've been using PSE 14 for over a year, and never had this problem, so I think maybe I hit a setting I shouldn't have. I reset all my tools back to default. I shut down and restarted my machine. Any ideas greatly appreciated - thanks!
i am on Cs5 but, check in your character palette, and see if there is a pull down menu, little arrow, and see if all caps is checked?
@Aerobigirl or try ctrl + shift + Y or on mac command + shift + Y here is another video if that doesn't work:
It happens when you use a template that has the all caps for the type tool selected. I'm not sure about your version, but I know when I was using an old version, I could not change it from the type menu box. Like Anne said above- use the shortcut keys & if that doesn't work- then open an template that you KNOW has 'normal' font options & that should reset it.
Yes I had that happen. ------------------------------------------------------- I googled and found this: Getting Text Back From All Caps In Photoshop Elements (Not CAPS LOCK!) February 8, 2010Computing58 Comments After getting rather confused as to why my text layer in Photoshop Elements 6 would not budge from being in all caps (no not because of CAPS LOCK!) I discovered that to get it back to normal you need to do : Mac : Command ('Apple Key') + Shift + Y Windows : Ctrl + Shift + Y This will put the text back to sentence case or lower case (whatever it should be before it was being forced into all caps) ------------------------------------- Try this depending on your operating system and see if that fixes it. Let me know and if if doesn't fix it, I will keep looking. oops I see Anne @AnneofAlamo gave you that solution. Let us know.
Hmmm. When I click on the type tool, the little palette that opens with all my choices doesn't seem to have an all-caps option. I probably have fewer options since I'm in Elements.
WINNER!!! Command Shift Y for the fix! Thank you so much! The last 3 or 4 layouts I've done have had all their journaling in all-caps, LOL.
I wonder if this is how I got myself into this mode. Possibly! If I ever get into this stuck-ness again, command shift y doesn't work, i'll find a template I know uses regular sentence case. Thanks!
winner winner chicken dinner! yeah...and @amien1 is most correct. If you open a template that had caps for journaling or TITLE it will toggle your caps back on.
There was another text issue someone had in PSE, and opening a template where the text was right fixed that one too! So it's a great solution to keep in your back pocket!
I must have had one of those templates/things because I had this glitch this week also. Ugh. I'm gonna screenshot that bit @cfile shared and keep it in my Tutorials folder. All I have to do is remember to look there!
What?? You don't want to be YELLING your journaling?? LOL Glad there was a fix. I would have been going bonkers too!
THANK YOU FOR THIS!! (yes, I meant the all caps!!) I've had this happen to me before and it's so very frustrating. Such good information to have!
Yes, you can bookmark the thread in your browser and/or you can select watch thread on the top right of this thread. So glad you got it figured out. I love shortcuts but had never heard of this one.
Came across this thread a week ago but didn't respond because I didn't have an answer to the problem. Well, guess what? Went to do a layout this morning and all my fonts were in caps!!!! AAAAHHHHGGGGG!!! Then I remembered this thread!! Thank you so much for the Ctrl-Shift-Y!!!! It worked!!!
So glad to know this- I have been "resetting" the tool over and over and it keeps going back. Had no idea that it could be due to a template. NOW we know ...
