PSA: Photopea is a gamechanger if you are used to scrapping with Adobe

I use affinity on my iPad to scrap and I have it on my laptop too. I was still holding on to photoshop because of light room for photo organization and for some styles that I still like to use. I loaded a style into photopea and it worked great! If I can find something else to organize my photos so I know what I have scrapped I will be dropping photoshop completely. I just downgraded to light room only for the remainder of my subscription. Any ideas on what to use to organize my photos so I know what has been scrapped?

I too am limping with PS CS5 & windows 10...all the changes that are going to need to happen this year with technology & I'm not looking forward to it!

While this isn't dealing with individual photos, I do tag all of my layouts: in Photoshop it is under FILE, File Info and then Keywords on the Description tab. I can then search on the tag and find what I've scrapped already. I will usually tag on the year, the family name, the location, if it is heritage (I use TONS of heritage photos in my layouts), etc. etc. I went back to the thousands of layouts I've done over the years and tagged them all a few years back. It works for me.

If I gave you the impression my photos are organised, they're not. There are alternatives to Lightroom though if you use it for RAW conversion or presets etc, are you just using it as an organiser or for tags or something similar?

This is what made me change, there was an Oct deadline for Win10 support I believe & my old HP couldn't support Win11; can't say I'm loving Win11's file structure unfortunately

I had the idea to tag my photos I’ve scrapped in Lightroom but I can’t keep up with it. I do put my layouts in Lightroom and tag them so I can browse or search them by keyword to see if I scrapped something before.

I used Pinterest in a similar way - I have hidden boards with different themes so I have copies of my bird pages on a separate board to Singapore layouts etc. so I don't tag but it helps me sort visually & it's almost like a digital album that's free & cloud based that links to the original layout and credits for reference if I want to create a complementary partner page later on

Justine, you genius - thank you for sharing this! I have already started sorting some private boards and uploading layouts! I have so many trips and events I want to document, many that I have started but not finished. I had started a spreadsheet but it wasn't really working. This is so much better, I can now easily see what I have d one and will make it easy to see what else I want to work on.

don't get me wrong, i love a spreadsheet (my trip planning ones are epic multi-tab sheets) but i'm not good at putting images in the cells (if there's a way to do that tell me please because i have tried with little map excerpts (jpg and png) for particular areas but it doesn't seem to work in Google Sheets) but i am a pinterest addict - if it ever gets discontinued or disappears then i'll be a sobbing mess and i'm really up the creek. i have way too many boards and i hope you won't get sucked in to endless scrolling like me (it has become really ad-heavy lately though)) - happy pinning/organising!

Definitely love any new options for people to affordably come scrap and play!

PC Mag Australia called Photopea a very capable online clone of Photoshop in this pretty comprehensive article about a year ago, which piqued my interest while looking at different graphics programs recently.

My own digiscrap specific roadtest of Photopea with several screenshots is here on the TLP blog if you want more info or tips
https://the-lilypad.com/road-testing-photopea-for-digital-scrapbooking/

It looks and feels very similar to Photoshop (coming from CS6 edition) but much cheaper and zero commitment if you want to try it out so it's suitable for unsure beginners as well as those that are used to the bells and whistles of Photoshop (and probably later versions of PSElements).

And for our non-english speakers, it's apparently also is available in other language versions; & Photopea creators definitely have a sense of humour and dedicated followers among the graphic design world

- they also have useful tips on their twitter/x page like this one about their drop shadow effects box, not that i'm a fan or follower of that site but i'm a fan of quick visual tips versus long videos for a simple thing)

Let me know if you've given Photopea a try or would based on what you've heard or seen about it.
I am going to check it out. PS is a bit pricy for me. I use PSE but would like more features. Thanks for checking this out.

Not having used PSE myself, I can't comment on how different it will be, so I'd be happy to hear how easy or hard the transition is from PSE. Let me know how you find it & what you think either in this thread or Pm me if you prefer
