Okay, I noticed a sub-conversation starting up in the Jan thread... I figured it might get lost there in time, so... let's start it here again (if you don't mind).

HOW ARE YOU PRINTING YOUR PL?
* are you a hybrid girl who prints as you go?
* are you a digi girl who prints 12x12 or 8x8's or whatever size and slides them into pockets?
* are you a digi girl who prints to a bound book?

WHAT SIZE ARE YOU PRINTING?

WHAT COMPANY ARE YOU USING?

ANYTHING SPECIAL YOU'RE GONNA TRY THIS YEAR (LIKE LAY-FLAT PGS, ETC?)

As for me, I have printed my 2013 albums with Shutterfly and have had nothing but great things to say about the company and the product. My colors are always great when they come back, the quality is great, the binding is great. And customer service & pricing (with their coupons and specials) also great. It's nothing but great (:giggle)

I think I'll do what I did last year and print multiple albums for the year. Last year I did it by quarter. This year, I'd like to see if I can do 2 albums and put half the year in each book. But maybe that won't work, depending on how many pages I end up with.

Also, this year I think I'm gonna save up so I can splurge on lay-flat pages. I don't like that some details close to the center of the spread can sometimes get lost down in the cracks. I am thinking I'll try the flat binding to see if I like it enough to justify the extra cost.

I print at home on my Canon Pixma, on Epson Ultra Premium 4x6 Glossy (for photos) and Epson Matte Presentation Paper (for cards and print & cut elements).

But I also have sent in photos to Persnickety Prints - I would send them more, but I'm just not that together as a person. I just whittle away at my PL album little by little. And I seem to print a lot of things a second time because I change my mind.

I have a fear of commitment.

Last year, I used my Epson Charm to print everything at home to put in physical pockets. This year, I'm doing digital for the main portion of the album and plan to print the 12x12's at Persnickety prints every two month. I'm also adding "real" stuff to insert pages, including photos printed at home, a couple of times a month to use all the beautiful journal cards, cute overlays, flowers, veneers etc that I STILL somehow want to collect even though I'm mostly digi. I'm hoping it'll be the best of both worlds.

I print 12x12 bound books through Shutterfly too. I printed two for 2013 (just got the email that book 2 is on it's way!!!). I'm opening myself up to the possibility of more than two books this year because I'm trying to use bigger photos and may have more weeks that take up more than two pages. Last year I started the year thinking that I would cram an entire year into one book, so did tinier photos in order to fit more on a page.

I have absolutely no complaints about Shutterfly so far. They even accidentally sent me an extra copy of book 2 and didn't charge me since it was their error. So, the only "issue" I've had with them actually worked out in my favor!

I'm intrigued by the lay-flat pages, but I doubt I'll splurge on them yet.

I'm going to try printing my 12x12 layouts with Persnickety. I think I'll print every few months. I am still looking for an album I love. I want a 3-ring binder type album.

I bought an American Crafts album and page protectors for this year.

I print my layouts 12x12 with Persnickety Prints and then stick them in 12 x12 page protectors.

I love Persnickety Prints. The pages are beautiful and since they print a true 12x12 I don't worry about gutter space. I wait until they have a sale (usually May and November) and buy print credits. That way I get the cheaper price until I use all the credits!

I did the same last year, and loved it, so I'm repeating it this year. I love that the whole year is in one book (binder). I toyed with the idea of waiting and making it all into a bound book, but we all like to look through it during the year. I toyed with a smaller size, but I already had the album and page protectors for 12x12, and I prebought print credits, so I'm sticking to 12 x 12 this year.

for my PL pages I print them on the 6 x 4 size photos and trim to smaller sizes if need be. I use Harvey Norman (Australian place)
I then use the corner rounder and slip into my plastic pockets. I have found this to be the most cost effective way for me here in Australia as 12x12 cost $12.00 per page. :( It might be cheaper if I got a book done on sale but I'm not that organized and I like adding to the album as I go along. I do print the pages as a 6x6 for a little mini album and it helps me arrange everything in the right pockets faster.

I've always gotten bound books before but then I have to wait forever to see my book and I got sick of that, so that's why I'm doing pocket this year. I print at home for the instant gratification. I'm still working on 'regular' LOs for a bound book but I have something I can hold NOW too. :)

I will be printing with Persnickety at 12x12 and storing in my 3 ring binder. I am going to try to print every month to keep myself motivated.

I print my photos and journal cards with a Canon Pixma because I am definitely a print-as-I-go hybrid girl. For printing journal cards, I like Neenah Solar white, but I also use Epson Presentation and Staples double sided matte.

Which model of pixma are you ladies using? I've got some persnickety credits I need to use so I'll print some there, but I like the idea of doing it at home too

Persnickety is running a deal for 50 12x12 pages it is $87.50, or $1.75 each. I thought that they did $1.50 at some point or am I mistaken?
Thanks!

I print my cards at home on my Canon Pixma, and have my photos printed at Costco... not quite a print as I go hybrid girl... but definitely keep to a routine of photos every Monday and then print as I go for the journal cards and stuff

for Week In The Life, I've been doing 8x8 Shutterfly albums, except this year, I did a Becky Higgins mini album and kit at Scrapfest, but decided I will probably go back to doing 8x8 digital album

I've had mine for a while (2010? 2011?), so it's off the market - it's the Pixma MG5220. The latest and greatest is the Pixma MG7120, and I would love to have one because they come in white now (and red, and brown). But my 5220 has never had a single problem ... I sort of keep waiting for it to break so I can justify a new white one, but I think it may outlive me. My husband still has a verrrry old Pixma in his office downstairs, circa 2004.

LOL... I've had mine for quite a few years too and don't think it's on the market anymore either, I have the Pixma MP560

ETA: oh wow... Amazon shows that I purchased it August 2010

I do not work for them, so I can't guarantee this. However, I bought print credits at $1.49 last May (Around iNSD). Also, I thought it was November, but it was actually the last weekend of September that I bought the other credits for $1.49.

this is me too, wanted to do 8x8 but couldn't find a nice album so have the Amy Tan Cameras album instead

I am very confused by this all. I don't know how well and 8x8 book would look with Shutterfly. Will the journaling be too small? But, I do have 2 books 10x10 Shutterfly ready to be printed and waiting for good sales. Still trying to decide on the size.

Has anyone printed it 8x8 and how does it look that size?
