I finally posted a video!! https://the-lilypad.com/forum/threads/my-sticker-book-video.62458/ And Jen @jenevang I printed some of your stickers! Monica... it took me longer to get around to it.. but I did it! @umyesh
I'd LOVE to see your clear stickers... I love the clear ones best, but I'm worried they will smear. I'd really love to hear how you like the avery clear sticker paper! I almost ordered some of the Silhouette brand today.
EEP... LOVED IT... I was actually going to create some actual planner stickers soon and you've inspired me!
I printed the LOD freebie from Becca Bonneville. Mine did not smear. I used the default setting on my printer, just an older Canon inkjet. I think the colors are a bit less intense compared to it being printed on bright white. Oops - now that I see that pic larger than life, I can see I did not get the sticker down straight. Oh well.
those look great! i want to try clear printing now. i always had bad luck with vellum - but these look so cool!
Well done @Karen and @BevG It sure is fun isn't it! I finally printed some images onto my sticker paper, some free ones from Creative Market, and some from TLP. I added ValWibbens sticker action to them and a simple drop shadow. The colors are accurate enough for me (as they are muted watercolors) even on my cheap paper but cutting that 'Blessed' sticker was easy but getting it separated was a challenge. The plant was betteras I worked with the extra white before I took it apart. The other bits I'd made for my TN journal in December were printed on 4x6 photo paper, stuff I have that I probably will never use otherwise. I'd like hints of scissor cutting on sticky label (full size) type paper if anyone has any. All easy enough til I got to the cutting!! All in all now I may just go back to the standard cardstock and glue for the two gifts I'm doing. But for my own journal I'll probably work on the sticker/label paper.
I love those plants Maureen! You’re brave fussy cutting with scissors but it turned out great. When I used to do a lot of cutting out stampin’ Up stamp sets (the sticky backed rubber came in sheets and we had to cut them out or at least trim them up and stick them to wood blocks) I had a pair of non-stick scissors made by Fiskars to help with cutting through sticky stuff. Maybe they still make those?
You always need scissors! It's a tool! (that's what my hubby always says when he wants something new for the garage.)
@BevG What kind of Avery label paper did you print on? I bought some of the Silhouette brand clear sticker paper yesterday at Michaels and it is SOOOOO thick. It prints really great, but I kinda want something thinner possibly.
Avery 18665 Clear Full Sheet Shipping Labels for inkjet printers - they are about $1 a sheet. They are pretty thin. They are not a glossy/shiny label though. When you look at them with the backing on, they look yellow, but the actual label is clear.
@BevG I ordered some of the Avery sticker paper and I LOVE it! It's super thin, just like I was hoping and I actually love the matte finish. It looks a little more dull while on the sticker sheet itself as compared to the really thick Silhouette clear sticker paper, but when I stuck one of each in my actual journal, the Avery paper looks a lot better. I spent last Saturday playing around with that and I also ordered some of the white sticker paper from online labels (except Amazon had both, so I ordered from there). Anyway, I took some pictures comparing all the different sticker papers I've used and I keep meaning to take two minutes to post those here. Hopefully I will have time at the computer this weekend to do that, but I just wanted to say that I appreciate your recommendations here!
@Karen - Yay!! I played some more with mine - printed off a lot of Dawn's flowers, some LBW, some M3, and yes -- so nice. Can't wait to see your pages!
My planner is more a hodge podge of stickers than planned out layouts. I write often in my planner. I just bought the Colorful Boxes to cover-up my scribbles when those items later change. Love them! Anyway, here are a few of mine using the Avery Clear Labels. You can also see some of the weekly stickers I have made like the piano one and the bowling one. I also had a yoga one from a M3 kit but I ran out of them by the time I got to these pages.
Well, here is one comparing the different sticker types I've played with: I took some snapshots of my favorite emojis from my phone and printed those as stickers. The two stickers (above) on the left are with the online labels brand white sticker paper and honestly I can't see a significant different between the online labels brand and the Silhouette brand for white sticker paper other than the online labels brand is a LOT cheaper per sheet. With the Avery vs. the Silhouette clear paper, I would have said after just printing that I liked the Silhouette paper better because it was glossy and looked a bit brighter, but when I put the stickers in my journal, I really like the Avery brand better too. The Silhouette brand clear paper is SO thick and looks grainy in my journal. I used the same print setting on all of these too. Silhouette clear on the left and Avery clear on the right:
